Full Text of Email: To whomever it may concern: On July 31st, 2020, Creation Entertainment released tickets to an online Supernatural event, including personal meet and greets with members of the cast. I note the date because at this point in time, the United States has over 4.6m COVID cases, and over 156k deaths. Over 20 million Americans lost their jobs in May 2020 alone, and the country has hit unemployment rates greater than that of the 2008 recession. We are also witnessing a modern day civil rights movement to bring attention to the racial atrocities Black Americans face, during a pandemic that is disproportionately affecting their community in terms of number of cases and a lack of government financial assistance. With all this in mind, how can you justify charging over $300 for a conversation that lasts 180 seconds? People are dealing with unprecedented challenges right now, and you are knowingly exploiting that for financial gain. Maybe it will make someone’s day to talk to their favorite celebrity, even for a brief amount of time, and they may be willing to pay $371 for that moment. But they shouldn’t have to. And, may I add, it is completely insensitive to insist on “light” and “pleasant” conversation topics only, considering all the above mentioned struggles that individuals and communities are currently grappling with. It is irresponsible and unethical to take advantage of people at their most vulnerable like this, and I want to know how these prices are set, and how you can justify them. Because from where I’m sitting, it’s unconscionable. At the very least, these funds should be donated to support those most affected by current circumstances, rather than collected as profit for a select few.
