Breath of Fire series relay race taking place this Saturday and Sunday!

In case you were looking to spice up your Twitch-watching pastime this weekend, the passionate folks over at RPG Limit Break will be livestreaming a Breath of Fire series relay race!

The race is split between “Team Ryu” and “Team Nina”. Both teams are comprised of BoF speedrunners representing 8 different time zones. The stream will go live bright and early on Saturday, November 19th at 5:00am EST / 2:00am PST / 9:00am GMT and will keep going until the Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter runners finish sometime on Sunday, November 20th.

Here’s a breakdown of the contestants, with Team Ryu in blue and Team Nina in red:

Breath of Fire (SNES) – RyuQuezacotl vs. Nihil922

Breath of Fire II (SNES) – EmkanK vs. Jenja23

Breath of Fire III (PS1) – ELmaGus vs. Neoslash72

RPG Limit Break is also encouraging users to tweet out their thoughts about the race and their memories of the Breath of Fire series using hashtag #BoFRelay.

I had a Breath of Fire 3 speedrun playing in the background while I was working on stuff and felt inspired to draw Momo, the scatter-brained, bazooka-carrying engineer!

BoF3 is one of my favorite games. The story line gets a little confusing at times, but the characters are fun, humor is cute, and sprite work is friggin’ GORGEOUS! I recommend checking it out sometime, if you haven’t!
