Sieun's homeroom teacher gasps as Sieun shatters the windowpane and screams "Mwo Shibal!"
It's her star student who has consistently scored the highest numbers, now completely broken. She's seen him crumpling over time, the same system that's supposed to protect the children, fails them over and over.
She became a teacher so she can help students, so she can make them better human beings. What happened? When did she lose track of her life? When did she become another cog in this messed up system?
(In the webtoon, there was a teacher who supported Sieun and Suho, and helped Sieun find Eunjang, the only school willing to take him in. Maybe this teacher did that in the show. I would like to believe that. She has some good in her, I can see it.)

Kdrama I have watched
137. Study Group

I saw the trailer for the show and it looked good, somehow I only ended up watching it now.
I don't usually like school themed shows but this show was good from the first episode, l loved the members of the study group and their interactions. The fight scenes choreography was amazing. The show had a great balance of serious and comedic moments.
Highly recommended, I can't wait for S2!

I thought I loved jihoon’s eyes but when Hyunwook said
"(Park) Ji-hoon's gaze is the best. Maybe it's because of Si-eun's aura, but later on, just looking at her hair gave me a desperate feeling. He seduces me with his gaze (laughs)"
“Jihoon hyung's bead-like eyes are really jewels. They look like sparkling diamonds. They really shine when they shine, but when they're sad, they look infinitely sad. I don't think anyone else can imitate the atmosphere that those eyes have.”
"We had amazing chemistry. I came to think that Ji Hoon's eyes are like gems while working with him. When you look at his eyes, you will instantly understand what I mean. He has such deep eyes, and that really helped me to get into my character."
“I remember Jihoon hyung's eyes and his hair messed up with his sweat. Jihoon hyung is an actor who expresses everything with his eyes. His aura and energy are good so his gaze isn't just something ordinary.”
In multiple interviews I knew i couldn’t compete against him

After beating everyone else responsible for harming Suho up, Sieun throws Beomseok to the floor, climbs over his chest and screams "Shibal!" And then asks in a milder voice "Wae?"
Beomseok, who throughout the scene was like a guilt laden person waiting for justice to be served so his guilt can be alleviated a little, says "I don't know why." Takes a pause, looks into his friend's eyes and says "You, of all people, should understand."
"I understand" says Sieun, "so you should understand too."
He lifts his hand to punch him, but doesn't do it. He can't bring himself to. What good will it serve? What difference will it make?
He just gets ups and leaves, and Beomseok remains on the floor, feeling worse than before. The only friend who understood him, understands him still, but is leaving him for good. And he deserves it.
If only he would have punched him.
Sieun was an emotional mess at that time, going through so many emotions. Yet he was able to set that aside and not hit him. Is that what Beomseok should understand? Restraint when facing your friends as enemies.

I am so emotionally attached to this pink pillow. What do you think became of it? I hope Sieun took it.
Maybe he keeps it somewhere hidden in his room and uses it to comfort himself when things seem hard.
Maybe it's in Suho's hospital ward, helping him sleep there too.
Or maybe Sieun gave it to Suho's halmeoni and she uses it on a daily basis to remember her grandson.

Looking at this image (movie poster?), Weak Hero Class 1 seems almost like a standalone indie film rather than a Korean drama series.
This show hurts my heart in all the best ways. I hesitate to say that anyone can "save" another person, but I truly believe Suho prevented Sieun from going down a dark path in his life. Without him, Sieun would have likely ended up in jail, or worse.
Suho and Sieun each fought to preserve whatever childhood was left for them, and then lost their innocence together. At the core of their tragedy was a central motif seen in relationships in both seasons: guilt. At the end of Season 1, and throughout much of Season 2, Sieun felt that he robbed Suho of his youth - that the danger and violence that always seemed to follow him eventually destroyed Suho too.
What Sieun doesn't realize until the end of Season 2 is that there is such a thing as unconditional love. That Suho was always going to choose him time and time again, even when no one was watching, and even when he received nothing but pain in return. Isn't that the kind of love people dream of, no matter how impossible it may seem? That "I would take a bullet for you, then do it again" kind of love?
And of course, Sieun was always going to do the same for Suho. This is foreshadowed in the dream that Sieun has in Season 1 in which he is facing Suho, but has his back turned to Beomseok while they are talking in their classroom. In the end, Sieun would choose Suho over Beomseok - he would choose Suho over anyone, and there is no fault or blame in loving another person so much.
Praying for a Season 3, but in the meantime, I'll keep re-watching just to think about them...

While I absolutely loved Weak Hero Class 1, the second season is what truly cemented the deep love that Sieun has for Suho. I've seen it said that all of Season 2 is basically a love letter to Suho from Sieun, and I couldn't agree more.
What makes Season 2 so devastating is Sieun's devotion to Suho when Suho is unable to give him anything in return. Throughout the season, we see Sieun visiting him several times at his hospital, sitting outside of his room. Visiting Suho is like a religious experience for Sieun; he feels that he must face the consequences of his actions that led to this - that in his mind, he must repent for the sin of "killing" Suho.
In other words, Suho is a god-like figure for Sieun in Season 2. He sees Suho everywhere, as if in a trance-like state - in his dreams, and in his newfound friends, from the way they eat to the way they fight. He views Suho as a standard of morality, his mind flashing back to when he told him not to cross the line. Messaging Suho and apologizing to him out loud is akin to confession - a way of coping with his guilt and despair over losing him.
After waking up from unconsciousness, Sieun's body immediately feels the need to see Suho. "I'm sorry I'm late," he says, as though Suho was expecting him. He doesn't want to disappoint him for not being there that day, and wants to assure Suho that despite everything, he is forever faithful to him.
I could go on and on, but I think this is what makes Season 2 so sad to the point where it's almost unsettling. Suho, in his comatose state, becomes a higher power for Sieun - someone who is incomparable and above all others, someone he looks to when he is weak, when he is stuck in the dark, and when he is lost without hope.

What if Sieun and Yeongi never really removed each other on the WithMap app, and still open it every now and then to see where the other is? Yeongi sees that Sieun visits Suho often and finds that very comforting.
Maybe after Suho is well again, they go and find her and become friends again.

The fact that Yeongi always went around playfully holding Sieun's arm and using his shoulder as a headrest, just dragging him around happily? And yet, when she was the most miserable and broken she's ever been, she sits at a distance from him and then finally leaves.

Sieun finds the whole world very predictable. Even Suho, with all his quirks ends up doing things that are typical of him. But not Beomseok. Sieun often finds himself startled by Beomseok's actions. He's just constantly doing things that seem contrary to his demeanor, both good and bad.
Sieun knows that maybe he's been through a lot, so he looks out for him a lot and he forgives a lot of his mistakes. Even after doing the most despicable thing ever, Sieun can't bring himself to hate him.

Don't come at me for speaking about it, I know a lot of people hate Yeon Si-eun's mom and I'm not saying she doesn't deserve some of that hate.
What I actually wanna note is that in s1 Si-eun basically falls asleep to the voice of his mother while he is studying(afaik it happens more than once). Those recorded lessons where she teaches students and sometimes even mentions Si-eun is something like a lullaby for him. Just a kid yearning for his mom in a troubling time, even though logically, he knows she is of no help to him. She's not a mother in the sense that he needs her to be and never was.
In s2 he doesn't do that anymore. Mostly because he lost his love for studying, but also, his mom is right there. And somehow that is worse for him. It doesn't matter if he talks to her or not, she doesn't listen anyway. She says her piece and takes it as a fact without checking in.
That's probably why Si-eun eventually breaks and talks back at her, making her cry since she did not expect this from Si-eun. Well, she didn't know him, so it's hard to tell wtf she really expected.
I just think it's really sad that this whole situation with his mother became a "be careful what you wish for" situation. On some level, he really wanted a mom (not necessarily his own) and that wish was granted with a twist. He got to live with her in a new apartment, a new environment, attending a whole new school where he once again knew no one.
It makes me even sadder that Si-eun so desperately needed a hug, but the only mom he has was never mom material and therefore has no idea what she's supposed to do. (Not defending her, cuz wow, girl had so much time to read up on how to be a mom and didn't. Years. YEARS.) So of course he got worse and worse, until Jun-tae.
Someone who has more characteristics of a mother than Si-eun's actual mom. Caring, loyal, loving. I will leave it at that.
#omg juntae is Sieun's mom!#where do i find friends like that#sieun watching her mother's lectures to feel close to her just breaks my heart every time#weak hero
