Okay now that mutuals have got me thinking abt Dusknoir’s mini beg-for-his-life at the Stoneship Temple scene again;

Do you think Sombra, terribly injured, reached his large arms and hands out to Ribbons? Out of muscle memory, rather than a quick trick? Trying to coax her to get near him, as the light in his cyclopean eye returned. Just like when he was in Treasure town? Probably the last time Ribbons saw that glint? His voice returning to a softer, deeper tone as he tried to gently plead with Ribbons to not side with Arata?

Do you think she nearly falls for it and steps forward, before realizing her mistaking and taking 5 steps away from him in disgust for nearly making her let her guard down.

And the moment she comes to her senses and inevitably sided with her brother, that soft expression and light in his eye dies out. Immediately returning to his stoic, cold look.

I feel like I’m going into nirvana with @quietbox’s tags

actually you know what i think about. how long do you think it took dusknoir to realize hero had forgotten the teensy tiny little detail about how changing history would kill them. because the way he waited until the very end to reveal that is so interesting to me. did it click for him at some point that they didn’t realize how tragic what they were doing was? was him desperately dropping that truth bomb both a self preserving act but also perhaps a genuine warning? man

OHHH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. Okay. Normal time.

I absolutely believe that it’s for the latter reason (Self preservation AND genuinely warning hero). Because in game, the way his dialogue actually feels like he’s pausing the villain monologue for a second??? Repeating the words ‘…Is this what you truly want?’ Like he’s actually desperate. Makes me SO INSANE. Like he’s actually dropping his bravado/mask to see if his first, genuine plea to Hero will be enough to get them to switch sides. Maybe there’s still a chance to save his own skin. Make hero realize that Grovyle’s plan is utterly idiotic and suicidal.

But the second Hero rejects it, rejects him, the mask is instantly back on and he attacks them. And I just. I LOVE AND HATE THIS GHOST SO MUCHHHH HE’S SO SELFISH BUT FOR A GOOD REASON.

I made some art of it (that I legit need to redo) BUT IT HAS ME GENUINELYYYY TWEAKING OUT. I’ll be honest I think I clocked his desperation for survival in THAT scene, and not EP5 bc of how well crafted it is.

SPEAKING OF EP5. HE DOES THE DESPERATE SENTENCE REPETITION AGAIN THERE, TOO. WITH THE WORDS:

Going from his genuinely intimidating assassin side to that of a kicked and battered sheltered animal with those 5 words. I cannot explain to you how much this ghost bewitched me.

I know I showed wips for the voidland comic thing. but I legitimately need to draw Dusknoir losing the idgaf war with himself Post-ep5 (well, losing to ribbons through timelines.)(they don’t know they’re competing and failing)

alright fine so maybe i am a sucker for ‘character ‘pretends’ to be nice to others then hardcore stabs them in the back but definitely secretly still feels some affection toward them but will never ever admit that bc they already dug their grave’
