a dream of mine

So I had this dream the other night where I was watching a movie with my partner on my couch, and I don’t really remember what the movie was about but there was one scene where the mc and their dad were at a farmers market and all I could focus on during the movie was that in the background you could see two people: a taller person that looked predominantly masculine and the shorter person that seemed AMAB and was wearing a cute skirt and crop-top. The two of them were looking at a wig/makeup stand, and the shorter one picked up a blond bob-cut wig and started ogling over how nice it looked and how they wanted it so bad, and then the person running the stand handed it to them and (because for some reason in my dream all the background conversations were just as loud as the main focus of the movie) said “go wild, I love seeing people explore their interests” and the shorter one looked so happy and they started crying and hugging their companion and it was so cute. This is what I mean when I say I want more representation, not just in characters, but in backgrounds of films and shows, because even just seeing someone getting to properly express themselves and live their lives the way they want to as a regular occurrence can make SUCH a huge impact on people who are still in the closet and want to see someone just like them or someone they can look up to; and by normalizing things like these, not only will more and more people will be comfortable with expressing themselves, but more people will come to understand that we exist and we deserve just as much visibility and respect as everyone else. We need more stuff like this for everyone and I won’t rest until I see it done.
