Last wednesday I did the first funkscapes live show on @dublab.de for this year. More to follow. The mix was kickstarted with a track by @voertuig_070_ (Dutch for vehicle) straight out of their soon to be released "Techno Garage" LP on @tonaloceans . Looking forward to that one... In February @harristojka, his wife and manager @valeriestojka and myself met in a beautiful café in Ottakring in order to talk about the reissue of What A Funky Night. Next year will be the 40th birthday of this killer funk tune straight outta Vienna. Expect a 12" super sound single with the original version of What A Funky Night and a previously unreleased version of Marihuana. Test pressings of funkscapes 004 have just arrived. Alright everybody, 2022 saw the first releases on funkscapes! Time to show some love to the people that helped me along the way. Thanks to the artists and labels that were down with the idea of reissuing their music or unearthing previously unreleased material respectively. Thanks to the designers and photographers letting me use the original artwork and photos. Thanks to Aradea Barandana and Offer Van Kesteren for providing dope reworks. Thanks to Carsten Daembkes for great mastering and vinyl pressing coordination. Thanks to Sebastian Saffenreuter for resurrecting and refreshing the original artworks. Back in the 1980s Jimmy Patrick Longfort (left) and Walter "Waldi" Jaeger, resident DJ at Ratinger Hof (right), met through Walter's girlfriend.Together they jammed at a musicians commune on Kieshecker Weg in Düsseldorf. With some early demo material they got to Christopher Lietz, producer of Die Krupps. In his studio they worked on the song that later became ATTENTION ❗ Read the full story in the extensive liner notes by Rudi Esch that come with the official and extended reissue of this 12". 📸 @alwinkuchler (Excerpt from a promo postcard found thanks to @magic.nut_)

In 1987, on 30th of April, Citro played an energetic and playful show at the youth centre Saarbrücken. Luckily the band recorded it to a cassette which has been unearthed during the reissue process of their Smile EP. Now those 14 songs, most of them unreleased compositions from their broad œuvre, got remastered and are available on cassette again. Limited edition of 100.
