bonus headcanon bc i realize this is buried under ten years of Lore(TM): Zekrom and Adair are functionally inseparable. That's how the split created two wholly complete, arguably equally powerful beings from one. the dragons were born from the connection between the original dragon and their heroes. As a result, they share a soul, a fundamental part of their being. If Adair were to die, he would still exist, in some capacity, as part of Zekrom. Their auras are fundamentally indistinguishable. The only thing that separates them is their memories, something that will cease to be the case if/when Adair dies. This is why Zekrom feels so strongly about their connection to humanity. As they see it, they are human. They are every bit as human as they are a pokemon, or a deity, or whatever you want to call them. Humanity is a fundamental part of them and Adair taught them that's a good thing. they love that about themself. they love all of the wonder and inventiveness and desire that humans possess and embrace it, wholeheartedly.

headcanon; anyway fusion is utterly horrifying to Zekrom. In their experience, it's a little bit more than just shoving two beings together into one body. Their own will and personality matters extremely little in the fusion process; while they remember it, as though they were the one acting, they did not at any point feel as though they were Themself. Kyurem, being More of the original dragon than Zekrom, who is more their first hero than anything, kind of takes control in that situation. (Not that Zekrom has none, but Zekrom also isn't fully themself in that situation.) Fusion feels fundamentally incorrect. It is horrifying, disgusting, and physically painful for all parties involved. zekrom despises anyone involved in causing that to happen to them. they exist. they have a right to exist. fusion is a fundamental contradiction to that, in their mind.

Genuinely kind of funny how much of my lore is just buried in nine years of blog. Like the fact that adair had two spouses and (at least) four children. One of which is Zekrom.
