You could have just called me”, Lola pointed out. “… so I’m going to be babysitting Grace so that you and Evie can make the most of your time in the city?” she teasingly questioned.

"That's exactly what happened," Charlie joked, their banter never having ceased over the years. When she guessed his intentions, he grinned guiltily. "I'd like to take her out to dinner and it's not really baby-friendly," he explained. "Would you really want to disappoint Grace by saying no?"

“Cute kid, fatherhood suits you. I bet she gets you a lot of attention from women too”, Nikolai said, only half-joking. “Hell, she’s cute enough that even I’m a little clucky”. 

"You're damn right she does," Charlie confirmed with the cocky smirk he had never lost. "Simmer down, Novak. At least buy me dinner first."

“Thank you.” Mina laughed. “That’s great. I’m expecting a girl too so tell me, what should I expect if your girl’s anything to go by?”

"Well... not a lot of sleep, for a start," he told her with a laugh. "But it's all worth it. My girl, Grace, she's wonderful. Always seemed to know how to get what she wants. Either that or having her's made me soft," he smiled fondly as he spoke. "You're lucky to be having a girl. How much longer have you got?"

"I feel bad for whoever tries." He smiled, "Mine's not even two and I'm pretty sure she already knows she can get whatever she wants. You got any tips for when she's older? Else I think I'm fucked."

Elijah watched him interact with the two girls and waited until they left before calling his name and wandering over. “Hey! It’s been way too long. How you doing?”

"Hey, man," Charlie offered a friendly smile. "It's been ages. I'm good, yeah. Pretty busy; 's good to have a bit of a break. How about you?"

You should be well aware that I never fuck off,” she reminded him, returning the hug. “Another thing that will never change,” Hannah shrugged simply. “Seattle. The dreary weather reminds me of the misery of my childhood. It’s oddly comforting.”

"You'd think I would've learnt by now," Charlie replied with a grin. "It must've slipped my mind, not having seen you in so long," he explained. "That sounds... kind of shit," he thought, laughing lightly. "Can't say I imagined you ending up in Seattle. How'd that happen?"

“At the very least, I can assure you it’s drool free,” Ryan told him with a laugh. The statement didn’t phase her much. She’d been a parent long enough to know what Charlie was talking about. She smiled at the toddler wiggling around in her father’s arms. “If it’s any reassurance, I bribed him with a dollar to come over and apologize,” Ryan admitted before refocusing her attention on Grace. “Look at that smile. Seems awfully familiar,” she teased, having seen a similar expression on Charlie’s face plenty of times in the past.

"Good to know," Charlie grinned. He hadn't been expecting her admission, however, and he raised his brows in surprise. "You bribed him?" he couldn't help laughing. "Wow, Ryan. That's a great piece of parenting advice; I'll have to remember that one." Grace was already a handful enough, he could only imagine what it would be like once she was older and had more independence. Somehow, he guessed a dollar wouldn't cut it with her. "So I've heard," he grinned proudly, as he adjusted his hold on his daughter, hoping she would settle. "Have you got any more kids?"

"'S alright, mate," Charlie smiled down at the boy, with a patience for children that had grown only in the last few years. "Don't worry about it," he reassured Ryan. "This one's drooled on and broken enough screens already." In his arms, his daughter Grace was trying to squirm herself free, but as if she knew she had just been spoken about, she looked at Ryan with a cheeky little expression. "Least yours can apologise."

“What do you say, Reece?” Ryan looked down at the little boy sternly, who hung his head and held out the cell phone before mumbling a small ‘sorry.’ With a sigh, Ryan shook her head, giving the other person an apologetic smile. “He must’ve swiped it when you put it down. He’s obsessed with this weird game my husband has on his phone. He’s always stealing our phones when we’re not looking,” she explained. “Anyway, I’m so sorry. If he did anything to it, we’ll buy you a brand new one.”

Arden had gone to the cafe in the hotel foyer to grab a coffee but rather than going straight back to her hotel room, she stopped and watched the interaction between Charlie and what she assumed was his daughter. She never thought that she would be looking at Charlie Styles with a fond expression on her face but that was definitely what was happening here. “Fatherhood suits you, Styles”, Arden said simply before taking a sip of her coffee.

Hearing Arden's voice again came as a surprise, as were her words. Becoming a father certainly hadn't been on his agenda, but now, he found he wouldn't take it back. "Bet you thought you'd never say that," Charlie smiled over at her. "I can't say I expected to hear it. It's rather nice, actually. I can almost believe it."

Amber-Jade had woken up early to work out in the hotel gym and as she made her way back through the lobby towards the elevators so that she could head back to her room, she stopped dead at a very familiar voice. “Charlie Styles, is that really you?” the redhead asked incredulously. “The voice and the suit suggest yes but I just never pictured you with a daughter… I’m starting to think that I might be one of the only childless people here”.

"Red," Charlie greeted her with a grin, chuckling at her comment. "Yeah, well, can't say I did either," he admitted, although now, he was undeniably happy that he did. Grace had changed a lot for him – though evidently not everything, as he couldn't resist joking, "Well, I could help you change that, if you'd like." He smirked, not having forgotten the fun they'd gotten up to in college.

“Did you really just let Grace go off with Evie before I even got to say hello? You are a terrible best friend, Charlie”, Lola complained. 

"How was I supposed to know where you were?" he defended, though he smiled at her, more than happy to have run into Lola so soon. "Besides, I'm sure you'll see plenty of Grace while we're here," he promised, the hint of cheekiness in his smile already suggesting his intention of getting Lola to babysit for him at some point in the trip.

Hannah watched the interaction go down silently, not wanting to interrupt until she was sure she had a full grasp on the situation that was unfolding before her. Once the woman and toddler disappeared through the hotel doors, she grinned, calling out to the man. “Charlie Styles.” Hannah made her way over to him, smirk tugging at her lips. “Is that you under that domesticated persona?”

At the too familiar sound of Hannah's voice, Charlie grinned as he looked her way. "Fuck off, Callaghan," he laughed, no heat in his words as he greeted her with a hug. "Long time, no see. You're looking as stunning as ever. Where've you been hiding?"

“I wouldn’t go that far. I’m currently a beached whale.” Mina joked before she took his hands and pulled herself up to stand. “Yep. A little girl.” The brunette confirmed, not mentioning her past miscarriage. “Have you got any, Charlie?”

"You look nothing of the sort," Charlie assured her charmingly. "Congratulations," he smiled genuinely. Since having his own, he finally understood the joy in having a child. "Yeah, I've got a little girl. Bit of a handful," he admitted, chuckling. "But she's great."

"it's been a while," charlie agreed, smiling over at joey. "how've you been, man?"

“Emma’s only four and we just got her but… I already feel like I’m raising a teenager. Seriously, I’m gonna pick her up from school one day and they’ll tell me she’s in some sort of juvenile detention for four year olds.”
