~~~WLW POLY VAMPIRES INTRODUCTION POST!!!~~~

You there! Do you like women? Do you like vampires? Do you like polyamory when given the respect and adoration it deserves? Then you’re going to love one of my current projects.

Working name: This Kind Of Night (subject to change)

Progress (as of posting): Chapter 16/20 in progress (first draft)

Genre: (Queer) Romance/Supernatural/Mystery

On a dark and stormy night, Victoria Lanes finds herself at a manor housing three mysterious women, who take her in to shelter from the storm. All three of them are alluring in their own, dangerous ways, and the more she tries to run away from what happened that night, the closer she gets to the women… and the mysteries they may be harboring.

This is a queer and polyamarous story, where the three women Victoria meets are already in a long-term relationship when she meets them. This is a mutual, respectful and healthy relationship, and stays that way throughout the story.

Read below for more information about the girls, their relationship, and hints of their backstories!

This story is still in its early stages, so everything is subject to change.

*Note: This story takes place approximately 2005.*

Eloise

Age: 26 biologically, ~105 chronologically (been a vampire about 80 years)

Physical appearance: Blond, shoulder-length hair, pale, ruby eyes (wears blue-grey contacts when incognito), angled eyebrows, stronger upper body, slightly calloused hands (will usually wear gloves when meeting new people). 6’1

Dress: Prefers dressing like a gentleman from the 1920s (vests, button-ups, overcoats, dress pants)

Blood of choice: Wagyu-quality cattle (had it once in Japan and literally has never gotten over it)

Earns money off her parent’s old estate and acting as a negotiator/mediator/third party between established vampire covens

Polite, distinguished and traditionally charming

Two fun facts: Hates modern cars, but is okay with planes, trains, etc. / Used to love stealing her father’s clothes and sneaking into her uncle’s rooms when they visited to try on theirs.

“Thank you. I’m never sure who to be careful around, these days. I get used to referencing them as my wives in private, and then there’s an incident, and I have to retrain myself all over again. It’s terribly exhausting. Things were less accepting back in my day, but they were at least more consistent.”

V: “Back in your day?”

“There I go again. I’m… older than I look.”

Allison

Age: 21 biologically, ~50 chronologically (been a vampire about 30 years)

Physical appearance (prone to change atm): Short black hair styled up, naturally intense gaze, crimson eyes (wears green contacts when incognito, but tries to avoid doing so at all costs), silvery scar on her neck, petite upper body, long legs. 5’10

Dress: Prefers more modern but still high quality fabrics, enjoys dressing thematically and sexily (silk dresses, dark makeup, lace pajamas, etc)

Blood of choice: Human. Tied between wolf and healthy deer if Eloise is asking

Earns money by attending parties (specifically for vampires) with people who want to loosen others up by appearing with a beautiful lady, or just enjoy her company (is firm with the fact that it never goes further than that)

Mischievous, quick-witted, sultry, and more quick to judge humans

Two fun facts: Loves dressing up “like a vampire” for the irony of it. Once convinced Eloise to dress like Dracula and Lilith as Carmilla for her birthday. / Absolutely freaked out at the drag scene in New York City in the 1980s, and fought tooth and nail to get into some shows.

“Men. Always those individuals that make it so hard to remember some of them are okay.”

V: “We’re done. I mean, I assume he’d figured that, but… once I get back, I’ll cut him off.”

“As you should! If you ask me, you got pretty lucky, pet. What better way to deal with an awful fight and breakup than a few days away from everything?”

Lilith (Lily)

Age: 24 biologically, 32 chronologically (been a vampire 8 years)

Physical appearance: Heavier, wispy brown hair (usually kept up in a bun or braid), softly shaped face and body, big and slightly downturned garnet-red eyes (wears brown contacts when incognito), small mole under right eye. 5’7

Dress: Prefers softer and more comfortable clothing, a bit more reserved and willing to blend in. Enjoys lighter colors

Blood of choice: Mountain Lion

Not currently earning any money; bit of a risk since her family is still alive, but always wanted to be a nurse

Sweet, romantic, and gentle

Two fun facts: Loves watching slasher films and laughing at how anatomically inaccurate they are. / Still enjoys sleeping, even though vampires don’t have to.

“Pleasure to meet you. Eloise tells us you were out in the storm? It sounded just terrible, even from inside.”

Victoria Lanes

Age: 23 (biologically and chronologically)

Physical appearance: Left somewhat ambiguous for now

Dress: Comes in wearing casual 2000s clothes, but ends up borrowing the clothes of the trio during her stay—doesn’t know much about high fashion

Food of choice: Any combination of chocolate and strawberries, but has an appreciation for home-baked pastries

Currently unemployed: is interested in old-school horror films, travel, and civil rights, but really isn’t sure what she wants to do with her life

Observant, conversational, and blunt

Two fun facts: Was named Victoria after her parents were trying very hard to have a child for years (she was the “victory”) / Will eat anything

“You’re not open. All of you speak so vaguely, you avoid things, talk in these circles and side tangents trying to distract me. And I let it happen, because I don’t know you. I don’t know what’s going on. I’m not going to push, but… don’t act like you’re honest angels.”

Eloise and Allison have been together for about 25 years, having met when Allison was recently turned and had a love-hate relationship until it settled firmly on the love side of the spectrum. They met Lily when she was still human and 20 years old, but couldn’t really be together (since vampires had a hard time settling down) until a series of events that led to Lily being changed at 24, and she’s been with them ever since.

I’m already planning out extensive worldbuilding for the vampires, but here are some rules for my versions right now:

Vampires can’t be seen in mirrors (there’s an underground industry that makes a killing off of painting them)

Vampires don’t need to sleep, but can and usually will during the daytime, because—

Vampires will burn in the sunlight, starting off as very bad burns and boils, eventually burning through their skin completely

Vampires can drink/eat things other than blood, but it doesn’t provide sustenance, doesn’t taste appealing, and can upset their stomachs in large quantities (it’s common practice to mix blood with small amounts of alcohol, spices, etc.)

Vampires do have hypnotizing ability commonly called Compulsion, which needs to be exercised like a muscle to be used skillfully

Vampires exist all over the world, and have for many centuries. Since the rise of communication technology in the 20th century, they’ve become more aware of each other and more centralized.

I already have plans for a sequel book to this one, but gotta get this done first! I’ll probably be posting excerpts/side stories of them as I go along, since I fall more in love with them all each day, and I hope you do too!
