          —–   A glance towards the figure and Prospect          lets out a low laugh.  The Emeritus bloodline is          certainly of interest to him.  Does he believe in          what    the    ‘Unholy    Church’    stands    for?          Absolutely not. Does he find it all amusing and          a great source of entertainment? Oh, certainly.           But  the  men  who  take control as leader and          faithful    guide    are    the    one’s    who    his          interest               lie              in              highest.           “Do you regret?”  he asks,  “Had you been          able  to  turn  things  unto a different path,          would  you?  Or are you content with your          own                                                solitary?”

“Really?” Something in his tone made Lark stifle a laugh. “Well you certainly have a curious energy about you.” True; she’d met many creatures and deities and beings over her life, some kinder and some truly heinous, but the one in front of her now… Excited her. 

“I’m lark!” She announced, giving a bob of her head and her hand out to shake. “Its a pleasure to meet you mr. uhmmm…” her nose scrunched up as she thought of a possible name. “Poe. You seem like a Poe.”

Though he knows he should’ve expected a spirit of life to act in such a way, he still catches himself being surprised. It’s strange being around someone who shows now real fear, not even the sort that’s hidden beneath polite smiles and sideways glances. Fear has become part of his taste, sour and always there.  Until now. The familiar taste is gone and replaced with something he can’t seem to place.  “Prospect.” he corrects easily, head tilting, “But call me what you will. A title or name is meaningless in the end.”

Jay kept their eyes ahead and not on Prospect, knowing they’d most likely lose if they tried to challenge him again. No, this was a slippery slope to play, and a growing part of them enjoyed it. At least up until he hurt them. That was a sign they’d gone too far and one they didn’t want to experience again. 

“I want to prove things that’d only be harder to do if you knew about them,” They responded. His remark about the last time stiffened their body. Parts of them were still healing, such was life with a fragile body. “No,” their gaze flicked towards him then away again. “That’s unnecessary. Besides i have better things to do than beg.”

Prospect turns to look at the other, eyes dragging across their frame unabashedly, studying. He’s meet plenty of people who pick and poke at him as a sort of adrenaline rush, a challenge, seeing if they can break through the cold facade they claim he puts up. It’s only when it’s too late that they realize it isn’t a facade, but a protection for themselves, a hidden shroud of the rage within. Jay’s only slightly different - but not exempt.  Stepping forward, he hums out a slow sigh, leaning towards them, “Oh? What else could you be doing?”

Prospect’s low snicker at first seems unexpected - but the longer it goes, the more it seems to register. At least potential reasons for such laughter seems to be more expected. 

“Hm, right. Can it really be a director of its own course when it keeps falling into many of the same traps albeit in some variation or another? Likely not. Some figure it would have been a chance to learn over the years - but clearly, that opportunity was never really built in anyway.“It had always been likely to come to some end or another, it should not be surprising in the least. It was just a matter of narrowing down which means.

“Whatever humans go though - whatever new war, new drug, new religion or ideal - it’s all predetermined. It’s been done before, over and over again, experimented with to the breaking point to see which variables remain and which change.” His tone is melancholic, quiet, yet the way he speaks hints that this is something he’s been through, an experience instead of a story.

“Humans search for others out there like them - and they’re right. There are so many more. But you’d wish you were truly alone in this universe if you knew the truth.”
