Dev diaries that show how to make a game? 🙅♀️
Dev diaries that show the tension and drama of making games with your boyfriend? 💃
Our first three eps are up, and there’s enthusiasm, silence, deflation, elation, it’s all there.
Our next game is called Janet DeMornay Is A Slumlord (and a witch).
We're taking a lot of inspiration from Beetlejuice and Poltergeist. That horror-comedy tone feels like it's been abandoned this millennium and I need more of it in my life.
Our second game, Queer Man Peering Into A Rock Pool.jpg, is disguised as an alzheimers-sim, but is actually a really joyful, weirdo time set in a mash future of Tsai Ming-Liang's The Hole, and Evangelion.
Except on this red ocean the boys actually kiss. Gainax are cowards.
Making this was a hectic slog, and we almost cancelled it three times. Lucky we didn't, because the response has been great. @isshehungry played it on stream 😍 I was screaming.
If you all need a really cute and beautiful comic to read, I highly recommend "Puu" by Nabi! It has some breathtaking cultural influences in the illustrations while telling the story of Jameel & Saboor!
Our first game, Pebble Witch, was about being a gay, chibi witch apprentice giving rocks therapy.
It was set in Kiama, cos I think recreating towns you visit is important. Let's capture a time and place, yeah?
It's about sitting a waiting for rocks to speak. I didn't want to feed the hectic-attention-spam beast. You eventually find the little rock that has some unresolved trauma, and just take it for a walk.
It's very small, but I'm quite proud of it still. Especially as our first game, made in just 3 months. If you ever bought one of the excellent Queer Games Bundles on itch, you no doubt already own it.
