Premio Battello a Vapore 2015

Stamattina si è svolta la premiazione del Premio Battello a Vapore, ero fra i primi 10 finalisti come “miglior illustratore”. Le mie farfalle nello stomaco finalmente sono volate via, purtroppo non ho vinto, ma già arrivare fra i primi 10 su quasi 160 persone, è una bella soddisfazione! Il livello era altissimo. Quest'anno non mi posso proprio lamentare, sto coronando tutti i miei sogni! Ecco le mie illustrazioni per il concorso, a tema “Piccole Donne”.

I've read little women more times than I can count, and I personally see Jo as transgender. Of course she wouldn't know what that meant, but she talks about how she wishes she was a boy a lot, and I'm just looking for someone to back up my thoughts. Thanks!

I think that is a perfectly valid reading. Jo frequently expresses her wishes as wanting to *be* a boy, rather than just act like one. At the very least, Jo is somewhere on the spectrum.

When I was 13 my great grandma told me that I am related to the man that the character Laurie was based off of :)

Helped me through some difficult times in my life. I always related to Jo March and it was she and her family that helped me find myself. When I received the novel so many years ago as a birthday gift, I never dreamed of the impact it would have on me. I still have my well worn copy and it sits right beside Pilgrim's Progress on my book shelf. I hope to someday pass it on to my own children. This blog brought back so many happy memories and I can't thank you enough for this. Thank you thank you.

I’m so glad we brought back such wonderful memories for you. I really think Little Women is a sweet nostalgia for a lot of people; we tend to associate it with certain times in our lives. Only wonderful literature can do that.
