I love how Westerners will be like, "Japanese VNs are filled with one-dimensional fantasy Anime Waifus who have no depth and are all homogenous- even a 30 hour visual novel with multiple branching routes where you have to delve deep into the trauma and secrets and insecurities of a character is just Wish Fulfillment Slop! Check out my quirky subversive Queer visual novel that spans two hours, has characters that fit neatly into clear boxes of gender identity across an arbitrarily defined list of categories as advertised in the trailer, provides realistic and authentic romance wherein characters joke that this isn't a dating sim and recite their backstories to you in a coffee shop after 1.5 conversations, and provides Cutting Social Critique like, "Damn dude, Capitalism Sucks, but I guess we Still Gotta Love".

#I got laid off back in November but my company ended up giving me a massive severance (52 weeks paid)#that’s an entire year salary in one lump sum#which was (before taxes) $72000#and It actually gave me the ability to not have a job for up to one year if I wanted#(it ended up only being 6 months bc I wanted to move anyway and you can’t rent without proof of income)#but lemme just say those 6 months of no job and having enough money in the bank??#it was fucking wonderful#I could do so many things differently#and I could delve into my cooking hobby more#I became more present for the people in my life#I could focus on how my own energy was doled out and manage it without the worry of accommodating an office job#and I still woke up at 7/8am and went to bed at 9:30/10pm#general life routine just felt so effortless and comfortable

Me: (bewildered, looking around at my spouse) um, no? I've been using it for 3 years.
Cashier: huh. What happened?
Me: I got covid.
Cashier: really?? And now you have a limp??? That's crazy. I never got vaccinated and I've had it two times and it was no big deal at all. Like, the second time I didn't even feel it.
Me: I'm glad you had mild cases with no long term impact. You are fortunate.
My spouse in background: (radiating with irritation)
