Water to Ice With the return of cold weather the transformation from water to ice takes place. Great combination of water and ice happening in the Fraser Valley. #fraservalleybc #waterandice #frozenwaterfall #naturespatterns #missionbc #mytravellinglens (at Fraser Valley) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpFyfFCLJ0b/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Fisherman’s Wharf After being on the quiet cozy docks of slander. The wharf at Steveson is massive. This is the largest small craft harbour in Canada. #stevestonbc #stevestonharbour #alongthefraserriver #fishermanswharf #fishingfleet #mytravellinglens (at The Fisherman's Wharf, Steveston) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpDSiCeJK78/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Floating Homes Westham Island Bridge Along the Canoe Passage, facing the old wood Westham Island Bridge is a bank of floating homes. Canoe Pass is a channel between the Fraser River and strait of Georgia. Big tide and water flow, hope those homes are secure. #floatinghomes #canoepass #deltabc #ladner #westhambridge #mytravellinglens (at Canoe Passage) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpAozStr8y4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Westham Island Bridge This 1909 wood planked, single lane bridge connects Westham Island. It replaced a ferry that ran from the 1880 to carry workers to the large salmon factories. The sound of wood planks creeping as you drive over the bridge has a soothing sound. #westhamisland #westhamislandbridge #ladnerhistory #ladner #deltabc #mytravellinglens (at Westham Island Bridge) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co-EpL-Lp0t/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Achiever Walking along the docks of Ladner Harbour the Ocean Achiever stood out partly because of its lines and settings . A comfortable laid back setting for a harbour. #ladnerharbour #fishingboats #deltabc #quietwaters #mytravellinglens (at Ladner Harbour Boat Basin) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co7gv4HpPDd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Harbourmaster House The Ladner harbour seemed very quiet. The bold red harbourmaster house was a reminder this was a busier place at one time. #ladnerharbour #harbourmasterhouse #ladnerharbourpark #deltabc #mytravellinglens (at Ladner Harbour Boat Basin) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co5EZZ9pemC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Fishing Boat Colours Walking the boat docks exposes the rich colours of the fishing boats. The rusty iron anchor lines spoke of interaction with the salt water seas. #ladnerharbour #fishingboats #anchorline #rustyanchorchain #mytravellinglens (at Ladner Harbour Boat Basin) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co2XdNpp-qW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Condos in Ladner Ladner has seen growth in Condominium housing, even for the bird houses in this old dock in the harbour. #ladnerharbour #birdhouses #oldpier #alongthefraserriver #deltabc #mytravellinglens (at Ladner Harbour Boat Basin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CozxP-BLRIk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Laidback Ladner Harbour An inlet off the South Arm of the Fraser River creates the scenic Ladner Harbour. Ladner formed as a farming fishing centre. The harbour today has a relaxed feel with old buildings and fishing boats. The comfortable looking chair on this dock offers pretty good views. #ladnerharbour #deltabc #alongthefraserriver #scenicbc #mytravellinglens (at Ladner Harbour Boat Basin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoxN-qQJag5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Quiet Place There is nothing more quiet than a headstone on the prairies. Not just the physical noise but the silence of someone’s life having ended. Photographing and reading about the immigration that took place and seeing the homesteads and communities that resulted has been interesting and inspiring. What individuals can accomplish! Hope you enjoyed the scenes. #canadianprairies #albertacanada #headstone #cemeteries #winterphoto #mytravellinglens (at Round Hill, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/Coun7D3pg5d/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Standing Strong The prairies meet the challenges of harsh weather. The days change from peaceful to stormy quickly. Historic Churches The Alberta landscape has many beautiful Ukrainian churches. In the Round Hill area, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, dates back to 1925, replacing a previous log constructed building. The period of 1890 to 1930 was one of a large immigration into the Canadian prairies of Ukrainians. A church was one of the first structures built in the new communities. #roundhillalberta #albertahistory #ukrainianchurch #camrosecounty #exaltationoftheholycross #albertalandscape #mytravellinglens (at Round Hill, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CophxjwLmp1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Winter Simplicity One of the appeals of winter photography on the prairies is the simplicity of the landscapes. It’s a world of the bare minimum. #silos #winterbranches #blackandwhiteart #minimalisticphotography #albertawinter #mytravellinglens (at Hay Lakes, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CofJqWOrnfa/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Bittern Lake Ranch English aristocrat William Anthony Stoughton arrived in 1893 and built this beautiful ranch house. He later traded the ranch for a brewery. business and returned to England. I have photographed this old beauty on two trips. The days are numbered. The history of the development of the prairies so interesting. #bitternlakeranch #homesteads #abandonedfarm #albertaprairies #prairiewinter #mytravellinglens (at Bittern Lake) https://www.instagram.com/p/CocovXvvexB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
