hi! i really love the worldbuilding in gods and demons (especially concerning how pokemon are energy-based) and was wondering if it's okay to use that for things like fics/personal projects (with credit and links back, if they're ever posted somewhere)? thank you for your time!
I'm very flattered and please do, especially with credit! My pokemon fic having the energy-based pokemon concept that divorces them more from being animals is relatively unusual, but my work absolutely owes a lot to other pokefic authors and has been cross-pollinated heavily (and probably contains a bunch of fanon that I don't even realize is fanon).
I've seen lots of dubious requests on deviantart from "pet sites" or "pokemon MMOs" to use fakemon artists' art, and that I'd have to forbid because I look askance at that type of mass content farming for the ad revenue/tryna trick kids into microtransactions/downloading keyloggers or whatever their business model even is.

Obsidian Horn Fossil → Tyrinder (lv. 40) → Tyrantoa #140 - Tyrinder (tyrannosaurus + cinder + kinder (children)) Eruption Pokémon Fire/Rock-type An ancient Pokémon revived from a fossil, they are thought to have lived in packs where the adults would care for the young communally, heating the eggs in lava fields. #141 - Tyrantoa (tyrannosaurus + tyrant + Krakatoa) Eruption Pokémon Fire/Rock-type Their bodies sprout shards of obsidian that grow constantly and break to give a razor-sharp edge. It is uncertain whether their tough armor was for dominance fights, or protection against something even bigger. Design notes: T-rex, dragons, hybrid dinosaurs, Jurassic Park “ultimasaurus”, Designasaurus II How do you make T-rex even cooler? Put a bunch of spikes and shit on it I continue to be Too Tired™ to do Base Stats/Abilities/Moves for my fakemon, so feel free to suggest in the comments.

Ancient Bird Fossil → (Infinity Energy Restoration) Osslab → (Lv. 40) Ossprey #135 - Osslab (os (bone) + slab) Matrix Pokémon Rock/Ghost-type All Pokémon fossils contain a little of the energy of the once-living Pokémon, but Osslab is noticeably more active than most. They tend to show activity shortly after collection. #136 - Ossprey (os (bone) + prey + osprey) Skeletal Pokémon Rock/Ghost-type Now that it has evolved, its body is free of the parent rock and it is able to fly with spiritual energy. Scientists have proposed various appearances for its original state in prehistoric times. Design Notes: Archaeopteryx fossil, ghosts and spirits Osslab has NOT been conscious for 65 million years under the rock going insane, let me just get ahead of that darkfic interpretation right now. lol
Moriko was originally going to get an Osslab (then Ossbeak/Osschick or similar) in my fanfic but the fossil pokemon subplot didn’t quite work out.

01 Nov 2020 - small update to this one, name changes from "Xuelong" to "Bellizzard" to fit in with the other Storm Spirit legendaries. If you liked the old name better, know that multiple language-based names are canon in my setting for all pokemon! ----- (Does not evolve.) #148 - Bellizzard (bella + bellicose + lizard + blizzard) Snowfall Pokémon Ice/Dragon-type A legendary pokémon of winter, it is said to bring gentle snowfall to the deserving, and howling blizzards to the cruel and greedy. One froze an entire army marching on a fortress in solid ice—but it also buried the fortress in dense snow. Base Stats: 80/80/90/110/90/135 (580) Ability: Levitate/[Snow Warning] Learnset: Powder Snow, Icy Wind, Dragon Rage, Ancient Power, Aurora Beam, Ice Beam, Dragon Breath, Dragon Pulse, Noble Roar, Blizzard, Outrage, Hyper Voice, Glaciate, Hail, Aurora Veil, Frost Breath, Scratch, Slash, Icy Slash, Mist, Sheer Cold, Typhoon, Sea Smoke, Flying Nimbus, Heaven's Light, Absolute Zero, Early Frost, Frostbite, Icy Veins, Snow Wave, Cyclone, Hurricane, Gust, Tempest, Whirlwind, Twister, Air Slash, Tailwind

(Does not evolve.) #149 - Wildfear (wildfire + fear) Firestorm Pokémon Fire/Ghost-type A terror of the summer months, when the grasslands and forests were parched under a clear sky, temples would begin to ring with invocations to the gods to bring rain before Wildfear came instead. It was said to be able to run faster than a riding Pokémon and leap across rivers, and spawn huge pillars of fire. ----- Again I Cannot(TM) so feel free to suggest base stats, abilities, and movesets for this guy. Wildfires are a bit of a terror for me here in the Climate Emergency world, and we can only expect them to grow more severe and more frequent. In another life I might have been up in the oil fields here in Canada when they were affected, and the stories about trapped pets and kind souls going house-to-house breaking windows to grab them before the fires advanced were very affecting. Same with the sheer power of same in Australia and their IT IS TOO LATE TO LEAVE warnings. Anyway, enjoy this cute fire-type Gengar as a reminder of same hahaha life is a nightmare

I'm foregoing the usual moves/stats/etc. for my fakemon since I'm in poor health, so anyone who wants to decide on some abilities/moves/stats, please suggest in the comments. #147 - Nightrojan (night + Trojan horse + nitrogen) Aeolian Pokémon Flying-type In antiquity, it was a favorite of sailors, bringing favorable winds as it ran hither and thither across the surface of the world. A clear, windy day was a sign that it had passed nearby. Like the other storm spirits, though, it could be capricious: it brought gentle breezes, but also the derecho.

I've been in poor health and can't make myself do all the extra moves/stats/etc. on my fakemon to post them, so I will just not be doing that! Enjoy. Anyone who wants to decide on some abilities/moves/stats, please suggest in the comments. #146 - Toronado (toro (bull) + tornado) Tornado Pokémon Ground/Flying-type It was considered a proud and aloof deity that disdained human attention and entreaty. The random and yet sometimes pinpoint nature of the destruction it brought led to many attempts at post-hoc justification, but the righteous were as likely to be afflicted as the unworthy. (Does not evolve.) #145 - Frightning (frightening + lightning + GALILEO GALILEO FIGARO MAGNIFICOOOOOO etc.) Thunderstorm Pokémon Electric/Ghost-type In mythology, it was said to bring thunderstorms and ride the lightning from cloud to cloud, as fast as a blink. It was dangerous to pray to it for rain—it could bring relief from drought, but it might stay too long, or bring more lightning than rain. Base Stats: 70/90/90/110/90/130 (580) Ability: Lightningrod/Motor Drive/[Electric Surge] Learnset: Thundershock, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Thunder Fang, Shock Wave, Electroweb, Astonish, Confuse Ray, Hex, Ominous Wind, Shadow Ball, Phantom Force, Bug Buzz, Bug Bite, Shadow Claw, X-scissor, Sucker Punch, Screech, Discharge, Electro Ball, Agility, Fly, Acrobatics, Air Slash, Thunderstruck, Turbocharge ----- Design notes: dragonflies, lightning, bug-type legends Almost to the end of the first part of the Gaiien Pokedex, so I'm getting the legendaries done finally. The Storm Quintet doesn't get the red background because this set of legendaries (actually "Arcane" pokemon-- legendaries like the Birds, Beasts, Regis, Swords of Justice, Lake Trio, etc. that aren't as restricted as the higher level of the box legends) is relatively well-understood in-universe. Many of each species have a dozen to a few dozen individuals that exist-- they're very rare pokemon, but not one-offs.

(Does not evolve.) Cryptidex: Comaclysm (comet + cataclysm) Disaster Quartet: Impact Comaclysm is one of the Disaster Quartet, legendaries born out of the fear of human-created and cosmic disasters. Comaclysm is theorized to have been involved in the First Hoennese Weather Crisis in antiquity, where a meteor impact awakened a Kyogre and Groudon that caused untold devastation in the Hoenn region already affected by firestorms and tsunamis from the meteor. In modern day, the Selene series of missions to Gaia's moon attracted the attention of various pokemon-like entities from low orbit, high orbit, the moon itself, and even as far as Ares and the asteroid belt. Dragon-types are the protectors of Gaia from Cosmic-type threats, and so Dragon Clan adepts and a Mega Rayquaza again took up that duty to drive Comaclysm away. It escaped capture and is believed to be in a low-aura mode beyond Selene's orbit. Poorly edited images of purported sightings of it via telescope are common internet hoaxes. ----- Design notes: asteroids, Ezekielian angels Quite proud of the HUD photo for this one.
