Fundamental truths:
1. Feelings are not facts.
Just because you feel something does not make it true. Just because someone else feels something does not make it true.
2. It is okay to be upset.
Just because someone upset you does not mean they did something wrong. Just because you upset someone else does not mean you did something wrong. Youre also not doing anything wrong by feeling mad or sad. There are no such thing as mean feelings, only mean actions.
3. Feelings happen for a reason.
Do not ignore them. While you shouldnt take them at face value its important to figure out where theh are coming from. And if you conclude its because "im just crazy", someone may be gas lighting you. Even if a feeling is caused by mental illness youre never 'just crazy'.
4. No one is entitled to control other people.
It doesnt matter if they say its for your own good. If someone is trying to force you to do something against your will, thats bad. Its ok to have suggestions, to present information, and to express its what you want someone to do, but it needs tk be clear its ok to say no, and to actually be safe to say no to, and not lash out using anger or anxiety or love as a weapon.
5. Actions are a choice.
It doesnt matter how sad or mad or anxious or in love someone is. What they choose to do with that is a choice. There is no such thing as "I had to hurt you, you made me angry" or "I had to control you to do what I think is best for you, i love you so much". These are lies. They wanted to so they did. Its always a choice. You have a choice, other people have a choice. Do not accept people blaming their decisions on their emotions or on other peoples actions. People need to take responsibility for their own choices.

Love and hate are not opposites of a spectrum; they are entirely separate things. you can hate someone you love, you can love someone you hate.
Connections can create a place for love to flourish, but even a well-tended garden will be bare and its blossoms wither, where as a crack in the pavement can flower in spite of having no space to grow and being doused in herbicides.

"Nice characters are boring" to YOU. I love characters who no matter what, will always have genuine love for humanity in their heart. Characters who dance and laugh and sing with sincerity. Characters who believe in others, and are willing to extend a helping hand to people when no one gave them the same luxury. Characters who have gone through so much but believe, no matter what, that humanity and life is something beautiful and worth protecting

Unconventional Writing Tips from My Many Years Of Serious™ Writing Experience
Write in bed. Just do it. It's cozy there.
Alternatively, write challenging scenes while standing up (i.e. with a standing desk or at a dresser).
You know that one tip about listening to Coconut Mall while doing schoolwork? Well, listen to Coconut Mall while writing on a deadline.
Run what you've written through text-to-speech (I usually just use Google Translate) so you don't have to read it aloud to check for mistakes.
Do personality quizzes in the POV of your characters, even silly Buzzfeed ones about which kind of pizza your personality represents.
For a story that takes place over a week or a month: make a timeline of what your MC does every day in the morning, afternoon, evening, and night. It helps put together those "missing pieces" in the narrative.
Make your characters in The Sims, as well as their houses.
Browse Subreddits related to themes in your story, or hobbies/interests of your characters.

reminders for writers.
nobody gives a crap if something is overdone in fiction. what they really care about is the execution
having a bad day of writing does not make you a bad writer
tropes ≠ clichés. if someone tells you it's wrong to use tropes, disregard the advice
writing in your second or third language isn’t always easy. you’re doing great
writing advice = tools. not rules. you’re not meant to follow every advice you read about on the internet. learn the rules so you know which ones to break
every writer is capable of writing a captivating story, but your story might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s ok. there will still be people out there who’ll adore it
it’s ok to not excel at every genre! you can write things because you think it’s fun, doesn’t always have to be a matter of writing something because you’re good at it. it’s ok to explore (and it helps you improve as a writer!)

nice pair of characters who trust each other more than anyone else in the whole entire world it would sure be a shame if one of them betrayed that trust for the sake of trying to keep the other alive. it would sure be a shame to love someone so much you destroy them

Tumblr is super big on the "I didn't say it was good, I said I liked it" but really need to discover the value in its opposite of "I didn't say it was bad, I said I hated it".
You can acknowledge that something is good, great, a masterpiece even, and just straight-up not enjoy it.

it may seem small compared to other things, but if it’s big to you, that makes it big. your stuff is allowed to feel big and overwhelming.
