1 - Shivanasamudra Falls (Karnataka)

Based in Madhya district, Karnataka, Shivasamudram falls divide into two branches – the eastern and the western. Cascading down the rocky cliffs, these waterfalls are enveloped with great degree of flora and fauna, courtesy the hill forests of Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. 2. Dudhsagar Waterfalls (Goa)

The Dudhsagar waterfalls rest on the Mandovi River in Goa. Dudhsagar falls among the largest waterfalls in India with an altitude of 1017 feet. The falls are a sight to behold especially if you go there in the monsoons, when the fall is in full flow. Water falling down from a height forms clouds of milky foam at the bottom, creating a visual of aesthetic beauty. Set amidst the crescent shaped valley carpeted with lush green flora, the falls are a perfect getaway for your honeymoon.

How to reach: Road: 60 kms from Panaji via roadways, 46 kms from Madgaon and 60 kms north of Belgaum. Best time to visit: From November to February during summers or June to September during monsoons.

3. Athirapally Waterfalls (Kerala)

An ideal place to spend monsoons with your better-half, the Athirappilly Waterfalls are the largest falls in Kerala. The sizzling silver water droplets fall down into the lush green forest, which is home to species like Great Indian Hornbill, Cochin Forest Cane Turtle and the Nilgiri Langur. Appropriately called the ‘Niagara in India’, Athirappilly falls can make anyone fall in love at first sight.

How to reach Rail: 30 kms. from the Chalakudi Railway Station Air: Kochi International Airport. Best time to visit: June to September, i.e. the monsoons.

4. Jog falls (Karnataka)

Jog falls is the second highest plunge and the tallest un-tiered waterfall in India located in the district border of Shimoga and Uttara Kannada. Jog falls, surrounded by lush green forests, makes for an enigmatic vision. For the swimming enthusiasts, you can hike down to the base and take a plunge into the river. You may also go up to the Watkins platform to get an exhilarating view of the place. The nearby area makes for a perfect trekking spot. When you have so much adventure packed into a single place, travelling there should be an obvious choice!

5. Nohkalikai Falls (Cherrapunji)
