Everybody complains when a live action is too different from the original, now y'all are complaining that it's too similar? Idk about you all but I much prefer a live action that's faithful to the original instead of wildly veering off course to the point where it muddies the message of the original film (sideeyes Lilo & Stitch). I guess there's no way to make everyone happy with these huh

I actually designed him over a year ago but didn't get around to finishing his ref before now oops 😖 (AKA me frantically prepping for this year's Art Fight)

Anyway more info on him below!

Name: Arios

Age: 27

Hair color: Dark blue (with teal roots)

Eye color: Yellow

Element: Water

Shockingly enough I don't have an extra long super complicated backstory for him (yet) LOL unfortunately a lot of my ideas for him were never put to paper so I deadass cannot remember a lot of the little details about him. BUT I DIGRESS

Arios is currently a resident of a mysterious place called the Abyssal Hollow, a city lost to time and to the waves. It's hidden deep beneath the ocean under a massive and powerful water barrier. For centuries it remained a well-kept secret--mainly because there was no way to enter or leave the city as long as the barrier remained. However Arios, being a water elemental, discovered a way to use that to his advantage and managed to find a weak point in the barrier to escape to the surface.

The city is currently being lorded over by a woman too blinded by her pride and morals to realize that she is only causing harm to its citizens. Arios really just escaped in order to get away with no intention to return but ends up coming back after meeting Kai. They team up with a group of rebels stationed outside the city and put together a crazy plan to take back the city!

Couple more things about him: he's very quiet, reclusive, and stoic. It's hard to get a genuine emotion out of him, or to even get him to express real care for anything. He's a tough nut to crack! Luckily Kai is there to get him to open up 💕

Mostly I just really wanted to design a character with deep-sea elements, esp since I tend to shoot for warmer colors when choosing palettes...it was really fun to work with lots of blues and greens this time 🤧 Anyway he doesn't have a lot of substance yet but I'm obsessed with how his design turned out, hopefully his vibes are enough to get people interested LMAO

Watching gameplay of secret of the mimic caused me to miss sun and moon even more. Like sure there were some sun and moon imagery in some places, (along with a most unpleasant prototype moon design) but nothing comes close to my boys sun and moon.

Would that mean that despite using the inspiration from proto moon, Sundrop and moondrop are still seen as originals? I wouldn’t think so, at least

Monstrosity did so well at conveying Kai’s desperation; I swear to God, every line was a KICK in my stomach.

Like I know everyone’s talking about ‘I’m sorry’ and you’re all right- THAT MOMENT WAS DETRIMENTAL.

But when Kai sees Wu?? He’s BEGGING not to be alone, BEGGING for help getting back to his family.

“I’ve been so alone. Help me, please!”

And the opening lines “I had no idea what alone truly meant” in that breathless way. Vincent Tong is too good, Monstrosity is too good, I am in DISTRESS/pos.

I’m done. I’m so done. Get this guy the biggest hug of his life and safety and let him see his FAMILY he’s terrified and desperate and depressed.
