300 words Statement
For Assessment 1, I experienced ‘Glitch’ through the following process:
1. Finding out my previous idea about ‘glitch’.
2. Research on glitch definition
3. Visit glitch artwork websites and blogs to build my understanding of glitch artwork.
4. Research Team Doyobi’s glitch drawings, listen to their glitch music and reflect on their work.
5. Create glitch image and audio through opening image, audio, video files in different format.
6. Download a glitch tool and use online glitch tool to create glitch image and photos.
My previous understanding of ‘Glitch’ is very little as I. Most of the glitch artwork I have seen is glitch drawings and images with pixelated effects, or colour mixed and rearranged. These experiences help me to build up my understanding of how ‘Glitch’ is used in various media and context, and how to create my own glitch artwork.
I believe that 'Glitch' has become an artistic style that applies to music, drawing, video, textile, design, etc. rather than just a computer or digital error that happens randomly and creates by accident. Since glitch is easy to make, many artists have experienced through various ways of creating glitch into visually effective and meaningful artworks. I believe this type of art had brought the sense of 'error' 'failure' 'interruption' and 'malfunction' into a new platform of art, which provides more possibilities for artists to convey their own message.
Through my research of music artist Team Doyobi, their music had attracted me and leads me to my final poster. They used simple beat and rhythm, a mixture of pitched and non-pitched notes into repeated music phrases. I choose some songs from Team Doyobi, use highlighters and coloured pens to represent 1~2 minutes from each song into dots and lines, which forms short/long distance between notes, high/low positions. I attempt to use this method to recreate the song using only coloured pen and white paper. After rotating a few lines of notes, I scanned the picture and opened its copy with text form. I rearrange a few amount of text, saved it, and reopened in pdf form. For the purpose of creating a various version of my original image, I put the original image into a glitch tool and glitch it with different effects as my second attempt. I repeated these two experiments several times, enlarging or minimizing each image, cut them into different size and made an image collage. I applied the idea of glitch again on the image and placed my title in the middle of my poster. I create a highlighting effect on the title because I like the colour separation between the title and the background, also makes the title more stand out then placing the text itself.
Evaluation:
I like the idea of linking glitch and music and I will keep exploring the relationship between them by making research more in-depth and broad. Although I consider my final poster isn’t really aesthetically nice, but I am satisfied with all my experiments.

ADAD1002 Assessment 1: Experiment 1
This is my first experiment by using image 1 (original image) to create different effects as shown in other images. I attempted to mirror the image vertically to show a rotation effect in the second image, I also test out turn it into mosaic style, highlight object frames, focus on one point then create radiation like blurriness on other parts of the image etc. The two image that I considered turns out the best is the last two, where the last one is neatly arranged by different colored numbers and symbols, and the second last one is made out of emojis.
Evaluation:
I enjoy the process of experimenting different effects on the same object, this illustrates a clear difference on how each effect works. I will attempt to design the way how my image will come out in my later on experiments.

ADAD1002 Experiment 3 (version 2):
This experiment is similar to my experiment 3 version 1 as I use an image to experience different effects through glitch tool. However, I used different effects including mirror, grid, ghost, red outline effects to create the above. I personally like the ghosting like image(3rd last) and the mirrored image(last). These two gives me a strong sense of contemporary digital artwork. The mirrored effect provides a sense of alienation and weirdness, while the ghosting image provides a digital style colour mixture and blend style.
Evaluation:
I pretty like this experiment where I had experienced a new way of creating my artwork. This method provides me with a new perspective of representing and viewing an image. I am planning to use this as the main technique in my final poster.

I choose one of my post on Facebook and glitch the main object which it misses its purpose and becomes difficult to understand the comments below.

An electronic music duo who produce electronic soundtracks for self-made video art in the early 1990s. “Art of Memorex” is one of their well-known glitch music video art.
As music goes on, some melody line starts to slightly changes by adding extra notes and sound between sections or changes its rhythmic pattern.

Time-based Collaborative project - Experiment 3
This is how I use a long exposure shooting movements of the blocks spinning, which creates intersecting shadows and shapes. As the first image shown above, I used a white light torch spotting on a single swinging wood block. The long exposure effect captures the block’s swinging movement which shown as the white curve. The torch light has projected on the white canvas on the ground, while the edge of the light reflects the canvas’ texture which forms a background that emphasises the white light curve in the middle of the frame.
The following is how I spin all the blocks at once. These intersecting shapes and shadows reflect every block’s different movement. I discovered that these blocks sometime will tangle to each other, then start to untangle itself once it reached the limit. Even though some blocks are spinning by itself, it will start spinning in the opposite direction at a certain point. Every time it starts to spin in the opposite direction, it gets slower than the previous spin. Then they will stop eventually. This reminds me of how we all have our own path in life, we all living our life at a different pace, different directions, and different social standards. We always meet new people, then separate because of our different life path. Contrasting to the spinning blocks which will get slower and slower each time, I think we as an individual can always gain power and strength from ourselves and people who support us, which encourage us to become stronger and better as a person. Although we will slow down in life at some point, we will keep on powering up and reach our next peak of life. Our life is like our shadow, our mirror, the more effort we put into, the more we will gain from.

Experiment 3:
For my third experiment, I intend to hang those wood blocks in the air and spin them to create a blurriness effect on purpose. This is how I have set up before I start spinning them.

Experiment 2:
For my second experiment, I intend to keep on playing the idea of lighting and shadow I used in my first idea. I use wood blocks to build a pattern that shows the word “TIME” from a certain angle. But once I change a perspective, I discovered a city-like landscape from a lower angle, so I tried to take photos to emphasize the shadows of “skyscrapers” which indicates our crowded modern city life.

ADAD1001 Assessment 3 - Time-base Collaborative Project
Experiment 1:
I planned to use candles as my first time-based collaborative project. I placed a candle on a glass platform which has a circular pattern made by words and letters. Then I moved the candle following the words on the glass platform in a circular locus. I intend to use the candle as a symbol of a hand on the clock to represent the circular motion on clocks and one of the basic time unit 'hour' in our daily life. The lapse of time is also illustrated through the melting of the candle itself. This experiment allows me to view this candle as our family who always supports and protects us from behind, which is symbolized through the candle burning itself to contributing light and hope to others.
