your followers worship you for safe passage through the sea. your title implies a dark and brooding individual but you’re much more playful than the name implies. although you’re quite easy-going, you have no patience for those who disrespect the ocean and their punishment is nothing short of severe. those who do anger you are often never seen again, hidden in the depths of the sea that light can’t touch.

i am thinking about ian’s logs / ian’s letters home, i am thinking about how much information the RDA redacts, how many of his thoughts and opinions have been censored to make them more appealing incase they are leaked to the general public. because one batch of scientists siding with the na’vi was bad enough for public opinions, they certainly can’t have that happen again —

still upset that out of all of the cool cat aliens with connections to the world around them, and beautiful lore, i chose the most normal human man as a muse. like yeah he’s immortal now but he’s just a guy. ( it is probably something about seeing all of the na’vi who can connect with the world around them, the plants and the animals and be a part of something bigger than themselves and choosing the outsider, who is not only situationally but physically isolated from the world around him, but that’s not a me issue right now. )

i cannot express enough the fact impact vs intent is the theme of this blog. it is a key component of ian’s stay on pandora and a theme that will be present in any main verse interaction, because ian doesn’t intend to cause harm, he doesn’t want to but his silence and refusal to act even when he knows it is wrong and feels badly about it is only helping the RDA and humanity.

i want ian interacting with na’vi, with the metkayina, i want him to be able to learn about pandora and the culture and the world around them without harming it because that’s what he wants to be doing, he just wants to study and learn.

the real question is where is he finding alcohol and how is he getting it on the seadragon.

the RDA has very little sympathy when it comes to beings that are not human, and even when homo sapiens are the subject of discussion there is very little meaning when money is not a factor. the opinion of the public eye has a price, and currently it's the idea of a brand new world. cyan sparks over the room and some officer decides he's the man for the job, expendable.

ian steps into the cell, cautious of @astrapure , he's been given clerance for a few of the tapes in her file, and a misstep could very well mean being thrown into space.

this post is purely for personal reasons, because it is highly unlikely there is one other person who would understand the pure serotonin boost that i get when i see his teeth.

the news reports on earth were heavily edited, the story of @su11ys 'revolt against humanity.' it never mattered to ian, the moment it flashed across the screen eyes landed on that big blue sea, flashes, glimpses of the marine life. oh, it was love at first sight. not love, some other selfish thing. it had caused quite a few arguments at the dinner table with his mum. heart sinks like a stone at the thought, all the things that have brought him here. the warning signs.

if ian were a better man he might say he regrets it, and he does for the most part, everything he's done while on the 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 in the name of science, but there is part of him that says this cannot be true, that he'd continued his journey no matter the damage. the guilt gnaws at the inside of his ribs, the back of his mind, settles in his stomach coiling over itself like a serpent. but guilt does not clear him of his sins. he has not come to apologize, he's come to repent.

“don’t you know how dangerous this is ?”

𝐞𝐱𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤 releases a muted hiss as human draws breath, air passing through filters, cleansing oxygen of hydrogen sulfide. if he were attempting to hide, it would give away his position, but ian hasn't shown concern when it comes to the na'vi. if he is to be hunted, he'd consider it some cosmic justice, and if not, the filters on his pack will need cleaned eventually.
