just wanted to clarify one thing, these were two different races!

the race after which j*s abandoned max at the gas station was sarno. that was the first round of the championship, and max made a mistake during the race resulting from his fight with charles. charles won the race

the inchident race was the one following sarno, val d’argenton. max and charles were both disqualified from the race

And people from Twitter have brought things to my attention like the fact that Max and Charles knew eachother since they were FIVE. fucking five years old. that's like 20 years together

and i just wanted to add here, charles indirectly more or less confirmed max’s claim that they’ve known each other since they were around five years old

Charles’ single seaters debut was in early 2014, which means his “nine years of karting” that were “always with max” would have begun in in early 2004, when they were both around 6 years old. either max or charles might be off a year a here, but they definitely agree on the fact that they’ve known each other since they were little kids, not teenagers like we had thought for a while

“I have known Charles since we are five years old” is insane because….their first karting competition on record they were maybe 10? But I don’t doubt Max either because he recognised Charles’ old Spider-Man helmet. I think this is what truly makes me a little insane about Lestappen, we know about maybe 5% of their history and interactions at BEST. There is so much deep and untapped lore that is only really known to the two of them and maybe the group who came through karting with them.

As for Max following a Charles fan account after Val d’Argenton, well, nothing shocks me anymore. Makes me think about the F1 2022 Secret Santa a little differently though, specifically the “to my biggest fan” joke. I wonder whether there’s more lore and context and history to that joke than meets the eye…..
