Oh damn, another Tyzula comic?! Just a week after the last one? Incredible. Couple of months ago I thought an idea of drawing different Tyzula sets in which the subject is Azula and TyLee as supernatural or random beings and Mai just being there... doing mundane stuff. So yeah, this going to be a series. And unlike my FICS I'm planning to keep them ongoing. EDIT: Changed second panel Moon's color to pink. While I was using the "Blue Moon" for a werewolf, I just thought it would be fitting a "Pink Moon" for Ty Lee. EDIT 2: Missed a small portion to shade... I refuse to look at this picture any longer fearing that I will find another mistake and I don't wanna keep reuploading it.

ty lee deserves more narrative

Reading Hama's bloodbending as sexual abuse/assault is a perfectly valid analysis of the situation. She was traumatized by being imprisoned and entirely stripped of her autonomy so she perpetuates that trauma of stripping others of their most basic autonomy and imprisons them. The parallels are pretty clear, regardless of if they were intentional.

The thing is, Ty Lee also removes this most basic autonomy under similarly violent circumstances with no mention on how she learned it (for example, if it was done to her before she figured it out). You can make the case for that kind of symbolism with her, and if you did with Hama, it only makes sense to do the same with Ty Lee, especially in the case of the Kyoshi warriors, who we know were stripped of their uniforms and imprisoned.

But people aren't comfortable putting that on a cute, young, fan favorite from a priveleged background who was "just following orders" the way they are with putting it on a haggish villain of the week who faced colonial violence and escaped a prison camp and has a lot of pain from it. So, because people aren't willing to do the same for their favorite quirky circus freak (affectionate) it's deemed in poor taste to do with arguably the most interesting minor antagonist of the original series, even if it reflects problems in your own community

I’m pretty chill when it comes to other ships. I don’t take shipping seriously, am happy to multi ship or not ship at all, and even ships I don’t like don’t bother me. We can all like what we like as long as we are respectful.
