Illegal 4D lottery syndicate comes up with new tactic to escape police
KUCHING: A syndicate engaged with illegal 4-D lottery has come out with a new tactic to escape police consideration and to guarantee no proof is left relating to illegal gambling.
Following a tip-off, Sarawak Criminal Examination Division (CID) despatched a group from Hostile to Bad habit, Gaming and Mystery Social orders Division (D7) and struck a premises at Kenyalang Commercial Park here.
A 19-year-old youth was seized while applying the new tactic to deal with the illegal betting interaction.
Rather than giving a betting slip to the client, he snapped a picture of the betting number composed on a piece of paper.
He would request the client's contact number and forward the data to someone else who was answerable for entering in the 4-D lottery.
CID boss senior Partner Commissioner Dennis Leong said this was to accelerate the interaction at the premises and escape police consideration.
The person who dealt with the betting at the premises will advance the data to someone else, and an affirmation SMS (short message administration) will be shipped off the client.
"Without the betting slip, it is more provoking for the specialists to recognize the illegal exercises," said Leong.
"In addition, it likewise won't pass on any proof for us to prosecute. However, we figured out how to distinguish them in spite of the new tactic."
Leong said the police had increased endeavors to screen the illegal exercises all through the state and more tasks were held to combat illegal gambling.
