i didn’t think i would have to say this to my own followers but… this is not a pro-“ship and let ship” blog, i do not believe in anything being “just fiction” or what have you… criticizing and demanding better from content creators, culture shapers, isn’t “abuse,” “harassment,” or “bullying,” it’s social responsibility.
this isn’t just an “unfollow me if you [whatever]” post, this is a post asking you as a member of society to please consider the impact you can have. i’m not looking to pick fights with people whose minds i won’t change, but this isn’t something i’m willing to budge or compromise on. if you follow me, you’ve involved yourself with me, and now i’m pleading with you, person to person:
consider the impact of your words, actions, and creations. about race, about age gaps and abuse, about gender, all that jazz. fiction is used to groom and oppress just as much as it’s used to empower and embolden. we all play a role in shaping society.

I’m pretty sure they also told people that the lgbt couple in this season would die, /before the season aired?/ because I think that the fact they /told/ us that, to make sure we had the right expectations, says a lot
to be honest, i haven’t been caught up to date with everything the producers said, so if anyone has a source for this, please send it my way so i can see! but yeah, if the producers told us that this was going to happen before hand, it’s definitely not something that should be labeled queerbaiting :/

I might get shit for this but ppl are making it seem like the queens of Duren’s only defining trait is that they were lesbians and that’s the only reason why they were mad that they died, not that they were parents or they were queens who were loved and respected by their people and y’all complain like this isn’t the 2nd season of the show; it’s still too early I’m sure we’ll get plenty of we’ll written lgbt+ rep in later seasons
you’re right and you should say it

no offense but
TDP season two was fucking amazing. The representation, character development, and relationships were all spot on perfect. But, as usual, there are things people have found to complain about.
People are mad the queens of Duren were killed, and yeah, it would be nice to see that LGBT rep in one of the characters we see more often, but don’t think, even for a second, that this is another “bury your gays” trope. The queens of Duren weren’t killed without reason; they sacrificed themselves to protect their kingdom, Katolis, and their daughter. They had a purpose to the overall storyline, and they are the reason the human kingdoms survived the winter. And their deaths led to the queen of Duren we see now, and she’s a damn good queen.
This is NOT queerbaiting. This is NOT the same as what happened with v/d. This is NOT reason to be mad at the producers.
The queens of Duren are beautiful examples of interracial, LGBT rep, and while they’re no longer alive, I’m so glad we got them. If the show continues as it has been, with each season representing one of the primal powers, the show isn’t even half way over. The queens of Duren weren’t the first and (hopefully) won’t be the last of our LGBT rep. The story isn’t over.
