Why aren’t we jumping more into the theories that Will could be Kas. I mean this is literally the season 2 plot:

Trusted lieutenant literally Will when he was possessed

The sword whispering being his family/friends trying to get to him in the shed

The betrayal being him using Morse code to communicate with everyone

Literally William is Kas. His season 2 plot was literally the first part of that, now he has to defeat Vecna

Where tf did the idea of Eddie being Kas come up😂😭

Will & Missing Left Hand Imagery

I’m not actually too confident on the possibility of this happening, but there a couple interesting points that points to Will possibly losing his left hand.

There is this screenshot from 2x02 where Will’s sleeve covers his left hand:

And this image where granted it is a bit unclear, but Will’s left hand also seems to be covered by his sleeve.

Potential Parallels

Jonathan has an Evil Dead poster in his room. In Evil Dead II, Ash Williams saws off his hand with a chainsaw after it has been taken over by an evil spirit.

Lately @bylrndgm and I have been exploring some parallels between this show and Twin Peaks. In TP there is a man named Mike who is missing his left arm. He cut his arm off in order to free himself from an evil spirit.

The Left Hand of Vecna

The Left Hand of Vecna is an item in DnD that is, quite literally is the severed left hand of Vecna. Eddie even mentions in his campaign that Vecna is missing his left eye and left hand. Granted this could easily just be foreshadowing for Vecna’s fucked up Freddy Krueger hand.

According to the Forgotten Realms Wiki, “The Hand was a desiccated, mummified left hand. In order to use its powers, the wielder needed to cut off his or her own left hand at the wrist and press the Hand of Vecna against the remainder of the arm. The artifact then magically grafted itself onto its wearer and became a functioning limb.”

Honestly, I’m not super confident in this theory nor do I necessarily think that it will happen, I just found it interesting that there was so much supporting evidence and wanted to line it all up here.

So I’m not saying Will is going to cut off his left hand. I’m also not not saying that he’s going to cut off his left hand.

It would be so underwhelming and just generally awful if Will, who spent 2 seasons believing that he will never find love, is never going to be able to get a boyfriend and is just going to get rejected by the guy he is in love with, was just proven right in s5.

"Yeah lol he was never going to get the guy he wanted, he was right all along"

"He might get some nameless, unimportant bf in the future tho🤷‍♂️"

And not subvert Will's (and the audience's) expectations!??!??

anyway . both w/o any refs (besides the clothes in the now one) . their faces definitely look better . which . yikes. sorry mike i did u So dirty in the older one. i hope this one makes up for it lol . in the now one i definitely brought back the s1-3 height difference--tho mostly incidentally-- cuz if mike were standing straight, will would probably be at around shoulder height .

i really like the recent one and really really hate the old one . i think the now one is more accurate anyway . theres no way they would be standing that far apart for any reason lol

As if the forever clock ('very useful in the apocalypse') wasn't foreshadowing enough, here we have Mike trying so very hard not to be interested in Dustin's science camp creations (hint: he's interested. He's very interested)

and you know who what else he's interested in

bonus: mike performing for el (she notices), mike performing for will (he doesn't, he's too busy being a good friend/interested in cool shit/adorable)

“Looks like it’s gonna be up to us again.”

“It always is, isn’t it?”

Will blends in, no matter where he is.

Is he the love of Mike's life that Mike couldn't see right in front of him? Is he hiding from Vecna with every new outfit? Is he just so passive in his wants and desires that he literally doesn't stand out? Is his self doubt leading him to disappear a little bit?

Either way, it seems like his outfits, the set design, and the blocking lead to Will blending into the background in pretty much every single scene he's in.

Obviously it's a little hard to make the case when he's in the same outfit for 5 of the 8 episodes he's in, but let's take a closer look.

4x01, the only time he's wearing red, he's blends into the school doors when he has a freeze response to El's bullying.

4x02, Will blends in with background blues at the airport specifically when greeting Mike and specifically right as he makes eye contact with Mike, just a moment before their heads drop, completely synchronized.

4x02, Will is often standing in areas lit blue, with swaths of background actors wearing blue behind him.

4x03, Will wears gray as he unsuccessfully tries to get El back at the white-ish gray police station.

This is where is gets trickier: Will wears this outfit for the rest of the season.

4x03: Will blends in with the walls, lighting, and background objects in each room we see him in as he's wearing light brown, tan, and yellow.

4x05, while everyone else is popping either because of their bright white or bright colors against the yellow of the sand, Will blends in perfectly.

4x06, Will's shirt nearly perfectly matches the shades of yellow and blue in Suzie's bedroom. The patterns on Suzie's wall exacerbates this affect. Further, he's tucked into a dark corner of the room, making him nearly disappear in that top right shot above.

4x06, Will continues to blend with the yellows of the curtains and painting frame. He's blocked in front of the yellow foliage and brown bark of the trees in the below picture instead of in front of the green foliage Jonathan is in front of, where he would've popped more with the contesting colors and brightness.

4x08, Will blends with both the tan of the van and the sand outside.

4x08, Will continues to blend with the sand compared to others dressed in more contrasting clothes.

4x09, Will is situated in front of yellow walls several times, filmed from those angles instead of in front of more contrasting colors.

4x09, Will is in front of the yellow van (while both Mike and El have darker colors behind them, from the opened door and behind the van). Will stands in front of the brown door at the hospital (although I will say, Will stands out more at the hospital than anywhere else. Not too sure what to think of this). No contrasting background colors at the cabin or outside.

Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have thoughts about this choice throughout the season?
