Why do I HAVE to tell people I’m gay? Why can’t it just be a thing above your head like “GAY”? Cause I’ve known for 3 FUCKING YEARS! I don’t like the idea of my family knowing, but I feel like it would give me more comfort, if that makes sense.

Today I came out to my teacher, It was the sweetest thing ever. A few days ago she sent home a note saying “Cj, I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to the heartstopper books and Netflix series- both are equally as wonderful. I wanted to order them for our classroom<3 -Mrs. M.

If this was a note that she would have given me at school i wouldn’t be as takin aback, but she sent it home to my HOMOPHOBIC FAMILY! I can’t blame this on her though… So the next day at school, after the ela bell rang I stayed after class with my best friend Rissa. I went up to Mrs. M and asked her to not send anything home to my family cause I’m not out to them and don’t plan on being. She said that she was just so excited about the heartstopper books that she wanted to send something home. I had to explain to her about how my family would probably hate me if they found out about my books. Mrs. M was super supportive, but I think she already knew if im being honest. I’m just a middle schooler right now, with a lot going on. But I’ve pretty much always known I’ve liked girls, and I told Mrs. M about this, “I don’t get how PARENTS out of all people couldn’t love their kids for who their kids love.” Mrs. M told me. Honestly if you come out to the right teacher they will be there for you.❤️
