This is another design made on procreate, on my IPad. This design I’m really pleased with as it takes on the representation of what a surreal landscape would look like. I would like to develop into this idea more as I’m really intrigued with digital art being created In an technological environment.

Some of my own photography taken when out on a walk, I’ve been trying to take in the landscape while out and I want to try and introduce this into my digital practice by making it become surreal.

For my SP3 module I have been using procreate, which is a digital drawing app, this has helped me to find myself within doing digital artwork. I am really pleased with how this has come out, i tried to focus on doing surreal landscapes- which I came up with a ice cream universe.

I have been working in a different medium for awhile now, which is digital art and i do this on photoshop. I use a variety of different tools to create the image, i find this practise better than the painting as you can explore more ways of manipulating your art work into what you want, at a quicker speed.
i want to develop into becoming a better digital artist, as i want to explore aftereffects this is so i can manipulate my images to move, as a short little animation clip.

For level 6 I have started to work more with the digital side of art, by using photoshop to do my own abstract background. I found this process over lockdown, as I was messing around with photoshop at the time. I think this is a positive in the way that I have found what I am interested. I would class this as a geometric landscape, another thing about doing digital art is that it’s a different platform of showing I different aspect than just painting.

Recently I’ve been trying to express myself to be more abstract and free with what I’m doing. I have started to layer the acrylic paint, in different colours, above one another as it will give a thicker effect to my work.

This is my third day at the Whitaker, Its nice how helpful everyone is and that they leave us to roam free throughout the museum, as I think this helps us focus on the work in hand.
I have decided to do more rooting and focus with what I want to do for my final project, I’ve also decided to book out a camera from university which help me to get a clearer shot with what I wanted to be painting.
I another idea that I came up with is that I’m going to focus more on the artefacts in the attic, as I’m thinking of putting a collective piece together, on the objects that I have chosen, by doing this I want to make a piece that has an element of abstraction and realism, than doing surrealism as I still want to show the real element to the artefacts.

This is my second day at the Whitaker, today I’ve decided to root around more and take pictures of the objects that stand out the most to me. My idea is to collage some of my picked objects and make them in to a canvas painting, linking them to a theme that im doing for my SP2 (Abstract Surrealism). I brought some oil pastels and sketched out the things that catch my eye the most.
This was a good day to come up with new ideas and start to develop a plan of what to put together with what I’m working with. I hope to start putting some objects together and trying to do a piece with the things I’ve found.

For this i used Photoshop and manipulated part of my painting and images that i have collected. I used the symmetry tool to create a symmetrical pattern, and cut around part of my painting and masked it to only show part of what i selected. For the background i used the gradient tool, which give different toned effects.
I am going to print my finished designs off in the print room. This will show my developed work through photoshop.

I Arrived at the Whitaker for 10:20, i was able to get a lift which helped with arriving earlier. We were given a tour of the Museum, Gallery and the Attic; where we will be working for the next 7 weeks. We had a chat with one of the staff members, and talked about our current studio practice at university.
We had to wear gloves so we could handle the artefacts, this was taxidermy, old china and victorian clothing. I ended up spending the day rooting around the Attic trying to gather some inspiration through taking photographs and drawing some sketches.
The Artist who’s exhibiting at the moment is similar to how im trying to do my art, which is very abstract and surreal, this is something that i could take inspiration from.
I plan to include my theme, which is Abstract Surrealism, into what inspires me at the Whitaker.

I've started two more paintings, one which is geometric patterns and one surrealist painting. i found that combining geometric patterns with surrealism that it would bring out the abnormal part of my paintings. i found it time consuming in the bird painting as it took longer than i expected, as the first one took a shorter amount of time.

This was made on a app called Dreamscape, where it lets you manipulate the photo with any of the given effects. i found this interesting to work with as it relates to my work; which is about ‘Psychedelics’. i thought about manipulating my pieces with this app as it would develop my work in a digital form.
