i like the stars. it's the illusion of permanence, i think. i mean, they're always flaring up and caving in and going out. but from here, i can pretend...i can pretend that things last. i can pretend that lives last longer than moments. gods come, and gods go. mortals flicker and flash and fade. worlds don't last; and stars and galaxies are transient, fleeting things that twinkle like fireflies and vanish into cold and dust. but i can pretend...clover nott | 7th | eagle

It was true. Narcissa had done well, especially considering her ongoing health issues and the fact that sheâd been in the infirmary not so long ago. But that, in and of itself, was an issue. It hadnât been that long since Narcissa was ill. It was only a matter of time before she was ill once again. âI mean it. You were on top of things, and you were quick and I really couldnât ask for much more.â All things considered, anyway. âHave you? Thatâs â thatâs good. She could feel her sweat rolling down her face â a sign of a quidditch practice well done. It felt good to be back on the pitch again. After what happened at the Halloween party, after Bertram was killed, she wasnât sure what would happen to the team she was supposed to lead. Between their emotional responses and the grounds being closed down for an investigation, it seemed like they would never be able to get out and fly again. But once they were given the go-ahead, Emma signed up for a practice slot right away and notified her team at once.  For the most part, considering how long itâd been since they were all together, it had been a successful practice. But still, something nagged at Emma, something that she had to get off of her chest before she felt comfortable going into any matches. Chasing down Narcissa before she could leave the pitch, Emma felt her body tensing up.
âCissa â that was â you did well today, you know that? Iâm really proud of what I saw out there.â
practice had been taxing for narcissa , it always was ,  but she was grinning through her laboured breaths . she hadnât had to ask for a time out  all practice ! she hadnât quaffed a potion as soon as theyâd stopped just to keep breathing . she was glowing  with pride  ( or was it sweat ? )  as emma caught up with her ,  she was doing  BETTER despite her recent stay in madam pomfreys care .  â do you  really  think so emma ? iâd been reading up on some new plays recently but i wasnât sure it payed off â

Lucinda had waited up for Narcissa, after having been dropped at her common room earlier that night. She had curled up on the sofa and watched the door, hoping to catch her friend, but when she hadnât, and she had been told she couldnât leave the common room to find her, she had found herself frustrated. She had barely slept, paced through the night at times and when they had finally been allowed to leave, she had headed to the one place she thought Narcissa could be, but hoped she might not have been. âJust checking on my best friend, is all. When you didnât get back last night I⊠may have started to panic a littleâ she said, holding up her thumb and forefinger to show a tiny gap. âHow you feeling? I grabbed a few of your things from our dorm, just in caseâ.
she shouldâve guessed it was lucie, she was the most likely candidate next to her family  ( and she couldnât help but feel guilty for not thinking of lucie worrying about her )   â oh lucie , iâm so sorry i wouldâve got someone to pass a message but they had to give me a pepper up potion just to get my breathing under control , that and ... well everyone was rather busy â she didnât need to say why , they both knew ,  and she smiled through it accepting the parcel of books from her dorm .

â  awh thatâs nice of you  â  she said with a gracious smile and a slight nod , it might just be thalia but that was no reason not to be polite , even if she didnât quite believe her .  â she really shouldnât , iâm alot better than when i was younger .  itâs only the hospital wing , not saint mungos â

âYou should give yourself more credit. I daresay she could not do it without your help,â he said. Hospital beds were a funny thing. Lucius thought that no matter the person in one, or the reason they were in the hospital, they always seemed frail and delicate. Lucius waved away Narcissaâs comment. He didnât want her to worry about anything so inconsequential as a piece of clothing, even if he might have been furious had it been misplaced by anyone else. âI doubt I will have much use for it in the near future, and no doubt an industrious house elf will find some way to return it to me.â Â
He wished heâd brought her something but failing that at least he could offer her a break in the monotony of the hospital wing. Lucius gestured to the seat beside the hospital cot. âWould you care for some company?â
â oh i wouldnât be so quick to give myself credit , once i start taking that then iâm well enough to start taking my share of the blame , for exacerbating things . no ,  iâd rather avoid that i think , â  it was nice , this easy banter theyâd fallen into . for once she wasn't over thinking every word ,  every look , despite her scarlet cheeks .  â are you quite sure lucius ? itâd be an easy thing to find it , honest â
she glanced at the seat , a smile spreading across her features .  â iâd love that , i- if youâre quite sure you have the time ?  â

isnât that NARCISSA BLACK? yeah that is HER, sitting there at the SLYTHERIN table with those other FIFTH years and i think i heard sybill saying they look like VIRGINIA GARDNER⊠whoever that is! when she looks into her crystal ball she sees a perfect pink smile and glances through long lashes, silent coughs into lace handkerchiefs, sun softened peaches and golden honey, untouched notebooks with a pristine quill, answering any criticism with a girlish giggle, & a string of pearls sitting heavy around your neck. anyway iâve heard theyâre pretty SUPERFICIAL, PETTY, and LOYAL. apparently theyâre a PUREBLOOD but iâm sure thatâs not related. ââ [ mhairi : gmt : 19 : she/her ]
NAME: narcissa carina hekate black NICKNAMES: cissy, Used to insist on cissa but has stopped, called carina by her father cygnus AGE / D.O.B.: fifteen / may 14th 1961 SPECIES:Â pureblood witch GENDER / PRONOUNS: cisfemale / she/her SEXUALITY: asexual, biromantic
FACE CLAIM:Â virgina gardner RACE/ETHNICITY: white / english HEIGHT: 4ft. 11in. WEIGHT: 89lbs. BUILD: short and sickly, underweight HAIR:Â loose white blonde curls coming to her colarbones EYE COLOR: blue SKIN COLOR: pale and sickly DOMINANT HAND: right SCENT: peaches and honey ACCENT: received pronunciation, very proper but with a slight voice NERVOUS HABITS: toying with hankercheifs
PARENTS:Â cygnus black & druella rosier SIBLINGS: bellatrix black, andromeda black PETS: cassandra, pet rat
BORN: st mungos, london. RAISED:Â black manor CURRENT RESIDENCE: hogwarts NATIONALITY: english SPOKEN LANGUAGES: english, french, latin OCCUPATION: student DRINK | SMOKE | DRUGS: ocassionaly, no, no
MORAL ALIGNMENT:Â lawful evil MBTI: esfj ARCHETYPE: the innocent TEMPERAMENT: phlegmatic WESTERN ZODIAC: cancer sun, taurus moon, capricorn rising CHINESE ZODIAC: ox HOGWARTS HOUSE: slytherin TAROT CARD: the fool TV TROPES: TRAITS: superficial, petty, loyal, charming, sweet
PATRONUS: cissy has never attempted to cast a patronus but if she did it would take the form of a wildcat. those with a wild cat patronus are intelligent and quick thinking. quick thinking they often outsmart those around them. often quiet and reserved, those with the wildcat patronus do have a sharp side and a fiery heart. this feisty streak makes them formidable compared to most opponents.tough and clever, they are resilient enough to withstand events others could not and intelligent enough to excel in anything they choose to do. BOGGART: while close to her family narcissaâs biggest point at this point in her life is not them dead but instead them turning their back on her. casting riddikulus would cause the image of each of her family members to spin around at a rapidly increasing speed. WAND: elm, kelpie hair, 8â 1/4âČ, wishy. narcissaâs wand is an heirloom wand, it wasnât intentional instead nNarcissa had been messing around with some of her ancestors wands when one chose her. coincidentally it was her great great great aunt elladoraâs wand, who she is named after.
the unfounded belief that only pure-bloods can produce magic from elm wands was undoubtedly started by some elm wand owner seeking to prove his own blood credentials, for i have known perfect matches of elm wands who are muggle-borns. the truth is that elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity. of all wand woods, elm, in my experience, produces the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells; these are sophisticated wands, capable of highly advanced magic in the right hands (which, again, makes it highly desirable to those who espouse the pure-blood philosophy).
kelpie hairs are incredibly tempermental cores, explaining their rarity. they were once common in celtic wandmaking, however, the import of demiguise hairs has resulted in them falling out of favor. they have similar qualities to demiguise hair, and are powerful transfiguration cores when they donât backfire spectacularly.
REPORT CARD:Â Â cissy is in her fifth year and will be sitting nine OWLs with the following predicted grades.

Ancient Runes, E.
Charms, A.
Defence against the dark arts, E.

BIO
Born on a new moon in may 1961, Narcissa Blackâs name was never meant to be Narcissa. Brought into the world too early at 27 weeks, the name Carina (a constellation part of the larger Argo Navis) long picked out for an unfortunate outcome of a third daughter, did not suite the tiny child.
Oh so pale, delicate, and fragile, the new born babe was not thought long for this world, maybe not even day, definitely not a week, hardly worthy of a name from the stars. No, the girl would never be a star, wouldnât live long enough, destined to be beautiful but short lived she would be little more than a flower.
And thus she was named Narcissa, just Narcissa not worth the middle names.
But the healers pulled off a miracle, and she survied not only the day but a week, and then two, and then three, and after a lengthy St. Mungoâs stay baby Narcissa was home.
More of a fighter, more of a warrior than her appearance let on suddenly her name seemed an oversight. But Narcissa had stuck and so she got the name she wouldâve had as a middle name. Carina Hekate Elladora Black became Narcissa Carina Hekate Elladora Black. Hekate for the Greek goddess of magic and witchcraft, Elladora for her great, great, great, aunt Elladora (the one who started the tradition of beheading house elves)
Finally home from St. Mungoâs she was a baby full of noise and life, always giggling, or cooing, or babbling, you would think that it would be an unwelcome behaviour in the black house hold but at three months old Naricissa already had her parents wrapped around her tiny fingers.
Her unlikely survival had proved her a fighter in the eyes of her father, his fighter, heâd taken to calling her Carina. Always full of praise that his other daughters would rarely receive Narcissa could do no wrong. But to Druella she was always Narcissa, a flower, her flower. Her beautiful child, picture perfect, always so calm, always so pliant, any mothers dream.
But her early entrance into the world had taken a toll on her health and as a child CIssy was often sick, and as a consequence always coddled.
By the time she was old enough to be aware of her situation Narcissa was already in love with it, she could charm any adult with a sweet smile and perfected pleasantries, she could make friends at the drop of a hat with giggles and a few sweet comments.
Going off to hogwarts was a scary thing for Narcissa she wouldnât have the constant affection from her mother and father and she would be around more people than she had been in her entire life.
One of those should never have been a concern as the tiny blonde haired girl fit in perfectly into Slytherin house beloved by all. With those in other houses? Well they didnât really matter.
The other however would prove to be a more major concern with the young girl, frequently finding herself consigned to the hospital wing, even having to be sent away to St. Mungoâs in her third year. Even now sheâs frequently poorly.
Her illness was never a hindrance to her studies however as despite weeks at a time away from classes sheâs always maintained exceptional grades. Her health does seem to be improving of late and sheâs even taking up a spot on the quidditch team; surprisingly as keeper instead of seeker.
HCS
She knows what her parents expect of her, as the daughter of a great pureblood family her role is to marry into another great house but part of her canât help but want more, want love. Maybe thereâs someway she can do both?
Hopeless romantic, reads all sorts of trashy wizard romance novels⊠maybe she even gets someone to get her muggle ones?
Doesnât really believe the whole blood purity thing whole heatedly. Of course purebloods are better but why should they kill all the others? Whats the point of being on top if thereâs no one to be better than?
Desperately wants to show others sheâs not weak because of her poor health and keep her spot on the quidditch team, maybe sheâs getting someone to make her health draughts that are above her level under the table?

When he arrived at the infirmary Madame Pomfrey was nowhere to be seen but Lucius was not alone. He turned towards the voice and was only a little surprised to see that it was Narcissa. He ambled over to her, in no real hurry to see the matron, even if his headache was bothering him. âNothing that I expect I shouldnât recover from given time, but it seems silly to suffer when Pomfrey is so good,â he paused for a moment, not sure if it was rude to ask after her wellbeing before his curiosity got the better of him. âAre you alright?â Â
the potions always made her head feel funny, always made her thoughts a little clouded ( especially at the strength madam pomfrey administered them ) but they didnât stop a soft, rosy flush colouring her cheeks when she realised who she was talking to. âsheâs kept me alive this long, merlin knows sheâs gotta be good to do that for so long â she slowly manoeuvred herself into a sitting position as she spoke, drawing her blankets tight to ward off any lingering chill in the air. â oh iâm good, it was just the usual. iâve been a lot worse if you hadnât lent me your jacket â her cheeks must be near scarlet now as she thought back to that â iâm sure pomfreyâs put it somewhere near here if youâre needing it back? â

âI was looking for your sister, actually.â Thalia winced. It was true, she hadnât been able to find Andromeda anywhere, it made sense that she might have been visiting her sister in the hospital wing. âHave you seen her? And how are you, anyway?â
â oh â she tried not to look too crestfallen but it could be incredibly lonely under madam pomfreyâs care. â sheâs not been by yet... at least now while iâve been awake. iâm good, well as good as i can be all things considered â

even before a dead body was found, narcissa knew a party in the forbidden forest was a bad idea, especially for her. but she wasnât to let her poor health stop her from having fun... she just wished sheâd thought to bring a blanket as by the time the professors turned up sheâd been a shivering, wheezing wreck. whisked straight away to the hospital wing she couldnât help but dread the inevitable letter from her mother chiding her for her recklessness. a new arrival woke her from her thoughts, propping herself up in bed she flashed a weak smile at the newcomer. â what brings you here? â
