OOC Ramble- Lets Talk Gaza.

Okay, I see a lot of discussion on my dash lately about vetting GFMs that show up on anons, the recent news articles about GFM Scamming in the human trafficking space of modern capitalism, and worrying about falling for Zionist propaganda.

I've been an anarchist activist IRL for years, I run my own community pantry, and I also operate the AnCom Help Desk Project here in Portland. So I have a lot of experience operating mutual aid orgs, organizing fundraisers, and collaborating with other anarchists. And well... Considering one of my primary muses is Palestinian, I feel the need to voice my opinion on this.

Yes. There are a rather unfortunate number of scams trying to prey on people who want to help Palestinians. It's being reported on by multiple news sources.

No, that does not mean we stop giving alltogether.

If you want to make sure you're giving to a real person and not a scammer, you have a few options. 1. Check blogs like @vetted-gaza-funds , This thread by @el-shab-hussein , or the official Gaza Funds website, that will spotlight a different vetted campaign from their list every time you refresh.

2. Donate directly to the PCRF. This organization can help families far more directly, especially children affected by the war.

3. Donate to eSims for Gaza.

4. USE OPERATION OLVE BRANCH! Their linktree has resources for petitions to find, a spreadsheet of vetted fundraisers so you know your money is going to people who need help, and way more ways to help people impacted by colonialism and genocide over there in Palestine.

There will always be predatory people who see the suffering of innocent people and use it to profit. White pretendians trying to use blood quantum to make a quick buck, Rachel Doleazal-style racefakers who want to use oppression as a marketing tool, cops infultrating protests to try and turn us violent so they can justify lethal force.

It has always been a problem, and always will be under the current system of oppression we live in.

Capitalism breeds greed.

BUT WE CANNOT LET THAT STOP US FROM HELPING PEOPLE!

It didn't stop the Black Panthers. It didn't stop the GLF or the QLF, it didn't stop the crusaders against discriminatory policy during the Aids crisis, and it sure as hell didn't stop Miss Major, Marsha Johnson, and Sylvia Rivera.

We can't let it stop us either.
