she felt more safe sitting here with obie than she did anywhere else . he’d always been home to her . even as his frantic energy pressed into her like a thousand pin pricks against her iridescent aura she nestled into his neck . “ you’ll figure it out . ” not a hint of doubt in her words . if he set his sights on a goal there wasn’t much that’d keep him from reaching the finish line . “ i know you will but your mind needs to rest . you’ll be able to see things more clearly after you’ve gotten a good nights sleep . ” she sighed softly . alone . it was what brought them together . loneliness was eating her alive so slowly nobody noticed . well , obie noticed . “ you won’t be alone . ” it wasn’t the same and she knew that . “ but if you want to help them we can figure something out tomorrow . their problems aren’t going anywhere . ” head tilting upwards just enough to press a kiss to his jaw . “ we can cuddle , if you want , i’ll rub your head until you feel sleepy . ”

wrapping his arms around her brought obadiah back to hiding under the jungle gym at recess because all the other kids acted like they couldn’t see him , just like now clem was the one to notice him. nodding without thought at her words , he believed her. obie would believe anything she said even if it was something like the moon was cheese or love is all gravity really is. an invisible thing pulling us all towards each other. one lean hand slipped under clem’s shirt to trace along the skin of her spine , doing his best to take a deep breath with each pass of his fingers. “ okay , “ the word was mumbled as bleary eyes fluttered shut to the sound of her soothing voice , only opening again at the press of her lips to his stubbly chin , “ i’d like a cuddle but i can’t promise that it’ll put me to sleep , “ tea colored eyes stared down into her muddy ones , flicking to her lips before back to her eyes , brain switching tracks entirely. “ i can think of something else that’ll wear both of us out. “

“not real? my husband was murdered in cold blood, i’m pretty sure that’s as real as it gets.” she said, gloved hand reaching up to wipe the few tears that had been steadily flowing from her cheeks. it truly was the performance of a lifetime. and she loved nothing more than having everyone in hollywood completely fooled. and the pity act truly was working, because she was slowly but surely once again, getting everyone wrapped around her pretty little finger. and she was sure she could do so as well with the man sitting beside her. her head rested in the palm of her hand as she listened to him go on and on about the sun, conjuring up a story in her mind that she was sure would work as she burst into tears. “fr-fredrik used to love the sun. we’d sit on the balcony of the palace every afternoon for tea and he would say the exact same thing about the way the rays came through the trees.” she choked out, grabbing a napkin from the table as she began to wipe underneath her eyes, eyes that quickly narrowed at him at his words. “eat? how could i eat? i’m sick to my stomach.”

“ eh, “ the sound left his lips with ease as obadiah watched the femme reach up to wipe a few tears off her cheeks , pulling up his phone and turning the screen towards her, “ depends on who you ask. most of the internet thinks the whole thing was rather sus’ and i’m a die hard conspiracy theorist. “ humming easily as he ran his eyes back over her form again , obie would admit that he was stumped if her tears were real or not. they looked way more convincing than any of his sister’s fake tears ever had through the years but there was something weird about the whole situation. blinking blandly at her fresh shower of tears , obie let out a rather rude yawn , computer coded heart cold and unfeeling as always. “ well , at least now he gets full rays in heaven. “ plus he’s free from whatever hell being married to you was. raising an eyebrow at her narrowed gaze , obie just smiled and grabs a piece of fruit from a passing platter before trying to outwit the other again. “ that’s fair but all those tears take a lot out of you , most people would be hungry after grieving so much. especially in a public place like at a restaurant.” i’m rather enjoying this.

obie just shrugged , shoulders raising and dropping with ease as he resisted the urge to yawn again. “ i’d assume so , i’ve stolen a couple sets of clothes from set because i like them. so hopefully your costuming department is as lax as ours. “ without waiting for the other or really knowing where he was going , obadiah started to walk. “ so where are we headed ? also lucky for you , i can pick nearly any lock and break into most standard safes so this shouldn’t be too hard. “

now obie was raised better than this , he really was. and he really like aprhodite , she seemed to understand how his brain worked which was a feat in and of itself. but right now , he was drunk and angry at the world. plus it wasn’t like anything mattered anyways. shaking the other’s hand aggressively in return , hackles already rising at the energy the stranger gave off. “ obsidian. “ the answer was short , posture straightening and grip on the beer bottle tightening in anticipation. “ i was saying that most girls who are as hot as her happen to be about as smart as a bag of hot air so code me surprised that she’s as smart or smarter than me. “ getting up in the other’s face , his accent slid from his lips as words slurred. “ i don’ see why it’s any of ‘ur business what i say ‘bout her , bud. “
