Ok but the symbolism in that halftime show. the american flag imagery. the character of uncle sam labeling kendrick’s music as “too ghetto”. switching up to praise him after all the stars. all with a fucking us president watching from the crowd

I think the other thing with this conversation is often.. I get annoyed with yt non binary people because they are happy almost gleeful to call a black trans women a trans med but they won't call out white folks who are are legitimately trans med. Because -and this speaks to what kat was originally saying- their loyalty for their whiteness makes them not. They will hsrp on the language of a black woman but will never call out white trans meds. Before or after this.
It makes the conversation hard to have and muddies the waters.
I think the one thing that makes the conversation about non transitioning non binary folks that does unsettle me is that..
While people are correct that their is a level of safety and privilege that comes from that and people need understand they are not the main threat, i think it's a bit odd how it's only ever non binary ppl that are discussed in this way.
Meaning, yes, ANY trans person who is does not want or require medical care is privileged in this conversation should sit down and listen.
But that's not what's said is it?

#idk#something about watching this conversation play out on tiktok#and watching white trans folks either call#kat blaque#a transmd or use her words to promote those ideas#by hyper focusing on the nonbinary part#when the whole point was very specific to that type of yt trans folks who do not transition and also have no desire to be a part of#the community is a little annoyinh

In new orleans at that
there’s probably someone way smarter than me who can explain it better but kendrick lamar’s halftime show was an amazing performance piece that goes beyond a “super bowl halftime show”
the american flag motifs? uncle sam telling him his art is too ghetto and essentially too “black”? praising him for doing a censored disney song instead? AND DOING IT ALL IN FRONT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES???
and oh yeah he called drake a pedophile in front of the entire nation

Remember when landlords said that "being a landlord is hard work"?
Here we have a landlord literally saying word for word that it's "so easy".

Like leftists™️ that make it their mission to shit on black art, especially black popular art that has a clear message that people get and relate to are truly just honestly mad they're messaging doesn't get the same reponse.. not understanding that Kendrick, beyonce, and ppl like them get that response solely because they ARE rich.
That was the other point of the performance: Kendrick knows that a black man of his status he effectively "won the game" he's rich, famous, and can do whatever he wants after truly starting from the bottom. All he has to do is "not fuck it up".
But consistently and loudly, he chooses to be his verison of blackness and speak out in his art in a way that connects to the culture. That is what gets ppl listening to him. He has no need to, does so anyway, and never talks down to people when he puts education in his music...
And alot of these leftists ™️ should take that note from him.
I do think that leftists ™️ of that type also have a weird resentment to people like Kendrick or black celebrities that try in anyway being called revolutionary tbh. I think that alot of their belief system is based in optics not reality.
Is Kendrick a "revolutionary" no. He also said himself he's not but unlike the text and Bible they preach ppl, especially marginalized ppl, relate to him more because he is speaking in a way that the public understands. We also can't be surprised ppl are calling the man who says anything about struggle revolutionary when we all know we don't even have a proper left in this country politically or socially.
Instead of being resentful about the labels not being correct, just capitalize on the excitement and stop being fucking annoying.

There are people on Twitter claiming that former black panther party member Samuel L Jackson is pandering to trump with his SATIRICAL iteration of Uncle Sam.
Is studying literature illegal in America ? Did Trump sign in an executive order against the concept of the English language ?

I love that everyone is talking about the significance of each choice, visually, conceptually, etc. made by Kendrick for his halftime performance, and I see how some are mentioning Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam (all of what @lilhawkeye3 mentioned in their post)
I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned how Sam being brought there as someone who HAS fought the fight in his time, how he’s spoken on being angry then, how his actions helped to reform Morehouse’s curriculum and governance, how he was one of the ushers at MLKs funeral, just how he had boots on the ground in this continued fight. And I think Kendrick picking him to be in the performance has significance in that line of reasoning, too.

Thank you to Mr. Kendrick Lamar and the Philadelphia Eagles for showing us that if we all come together as haters and pray for the downfall of our enemies- we can really make it happen 🙏
