Can Artificial Intelligence Change Lecturers?
Tumblr media
How will Artificial Intelligence change lecturers? Some think it will be a dramatic change for academics, but others feel that this is inevitable. How do you feel about these changes? As more educational technologies are developed, we are all the more aware of how we can improve the quality of education. We are now all aware of how easy it is to make money on the internet, and how easy it is to obtain free items or services through affiliate marketing. We are all aware of how easy it is to send email spam and get junk mail that not only costs us money to remove, but which also results in massive amounts of email being sent. And we are all aware of how easy it is to spend money on useless products. These things have happened, and they are changing the face of learning through online teaching methods and tools. Artificial Intelligence is here, and it's coming to change the way we look at education in the 21st century. The first thing that Artificial Intelligence can do is to improve the way that the world class universities, and even most lower-end universities do business. There are so many things that are being done, and so many things that we could do to improve the current education system, but the fact that this technology is already here, suggests that we should be open to the possibility of more and better technologies. After all, it could be argued that some of the current systems are starting to fail. It's not just academics that can benefit from Artificial Intelligence, but also the teaching professionals who work with universities and colleges. How do we know that the technologies that are being developed are going to be a success? Shouldn't we expect the opposite of what we're getting now, rather than what we've been getting so far? Even the use of text messaging in higher education is starting to show signs of Artificial Intelligence. Most of the main universities, including Oxford, are experimenting with this method of communication, but it seems as though universities and colleges are mostly concerned with it only as a means of communicating important details. This has been used, and it may be necessary for the future, but the technology isn't necessarily ready yet. Also, it may be too slow for what we need right now. Artificial Intelligence can also bring some benefits for businesses. For instance, the use of Artificial Intelligence in the management of customer data could bring benefits to both the business and the consumer. Some might argue that by using Artificial Intelligence for Customer Relationship Management, or CRM, we would be compromising the quality of our customers. That could not be further from the truth. Instead, we can only improve the quality of service that we provide, which is the goal, and can only increase our bottom line. It's important to remember that we all have different views on the subject of Artificial Intelligence, and there are even some, and I mean a few who say that Artificial Intelligence will not have any effect on their jobs, regardless of how it affects academics. At the end of the day, it's up to us to decide whether this is true or not. If we really have a choice, we'll choose not to be displaced by the developments that Artificial Intelligence has to offer. There are currently no limits to what Artificial Intelligence can offer, and that's exactly the way we want it to be. We should take advantage of it and learn as much as we can, and in so doing, we'll improve the quality of education for everyone. Let's hope that Artificial Intelligence doesn't simply replace the current system of lecturing, but instead improves it. Let's hope that Artificial Intelligence isn't another trend, but something that can be beneficial to everyone in our society. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Tv Presenters?
Tumblr media
Many people today are asking if AI can change the way we look at TV presenters. But is it possible or will TV presenters always be changed by AI? Let's first understand what Artificial Intelligence really is. If you were to ask many AI researchers they would tell you it is a hypothetical artificial intelligence which can mimic a human's mental capacity in a way that it can train itself without human help. Let's take the example of event generation software, software which creates events and tasks automatically. What happens if there is a need to detect a particular data point which the software cannot distinguish in an error-prone fashion or if there is an issue with a feature of the data? Any kind of AI based software or service will be able to make a decision about a particular situation and automatically generate a solution. Imagine if the kind of AI we have right now could even create a movie which automatically generates the films based on input from a box which is plugged into a TV set. Now if we take AI into the entertainment industry you have the idea of programming or having software which can already function in natural language processing. What if this could be applied to more than just one particular genre like for example an event generator? Indeed it could. Imagine the new breed of entertainers who could effortlessly use Artificial Intelligence to create new aspects of their art or craft, who would be able to do this because even with the current advances in technology they would be able to design complex things with few human eyes and little human work as their only help. Imagine if some of these creators would even be able to create their own pre-recorded musical tunes, or if they would be able to edit and transform their own speech into a song. What if this were the case then the likes of Madonna or Beyonce would be able to compose all their own songs in less than an hour, which would of course lead to much more commercial success. If artificial intelligence were able to replicate human personality traits why wouldn't we all turn to AI for help when problems arise in our lives? This would create a kind of balance between good and bad AI but in reality you could see how artificial personalities could become toxic. So can artificial intelligence change TV presenters? Of course it can change some personalities but the overall aim would be that of an entertainer not a political one. That is why I believe that an AI which can program itself in this way could create a person who could be a political icon, but it would do so with less support and less bias than traditional television presenters. Rather than focus on one specific thing, such as art or politics a single individual could focus on something general, like the beauty of a sunset. Perhaps the most important aspect to think about is that the overall point is that there are some similarities between the two worlds. AI can help us create better lifestyles but this is at the expense of the TV presenter who has to stand up and perform the role. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Accountants?
Tumblr media
The question posed by this article is whether Artificial Intelligence can change accountants? In an ideal world, we would use our algorithms to do all the tasks in the accounting world with little or no human interference. However, today, our business processes are often decentralized, and each area of our organization often has a different culture and approach to accounting. To summarize, it's hard to say if Artificial Intelligence can change accountants. Although it is an important tool in doing more accurate and timely reporting, it is very difficult to predict what works well with people and what doesn't. There's much more work that needs to be done to learn how to use it effectively. We are definitely not there yet. A big question to consider is whether we'll need additional human involvement in the accounting process, or if we can automate as much as possible. We definitely want the former for our bottom line, but at the same time, we also need the latter for ease of use and also to prevent over-manipulation. First, it's important to acknowledge that the trend is toward automation and away from complex programming languages. Over the past ten years, businesses have begun to realize that just about any automation, be it accounting or customer service, can be handled better with a computer and less of human intervention. That's a good thing. It makes sense to have more automated tasks and fewer complicated ones. On the other hand, another question is whether we need additional human intervention to get the reports correct. Of course, the main purpose of financial accounting is to report income and expenses, so getting reports right is obviously extremely important. However, if you are a middle manager, for example, you will only have access to "stuff" and it's very possible that a certain aspect of the organization may not be represented on the financial reports because it was neglected. This issue is best addressed by systems analysis, where we look at the current accounting systems (by which I mean both CRM systems and the enterprise accounting system) and how the performance of these systems are correlated to one another. From this, we can determine if changes need to be made. Artificial intelligence systems can still make mistakes, which is why it's very important to have experienced people watching over them. This way, there will be a lot of interaction between the human and the software and we'll be able to train them to perform as reliably as possible. You don't want to get into a situation where there is a mismatch between what the software can do and what humans can do. This will only lead to one kind of outcome - inaccurate reports and expense misreporting. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for human activities to impact financial reporting, including things like shopping, travel, etc. So you really want to focus on the areas where the human activities aren't making a big difference in the accounting process. The good news is that many areas are covered. There are many management practices that will not affect the accuracy of reporting. It's very unlikely that we will start replacing human operators with intelligent robots, but we will require them to do fewer tasks or get more help in most cases. Artificial intelligence can certainly have a positive impact on the accounting field, but it's important to recognize that we need to make sure that humans are still involved in some activities. That way, we can still provide the valuable input that humans provide. We should also ensure that we don't overload a single job or feature. Can Artificial Intelligence Change Accountants? Can Artificial Intelligence Change Creative Careers?
Tumblr media
In this world where technology is getting faster by the day, can Artificial Intelligence (AI) or other Artificial Intelligence-based innovations change creative careers? While it's true that the advances in AI have only been possible because of continued investment and new inventions in this area, it may not be necessary for this system to replace humans entirely. For some creative fields, the way in which they work will always have to be an important part of their skill set, for instance in music and theatre. To date, those that use these types of systems are able to deliver impressive results. These include things like an accurate reading of your sense of direction that is as accurate as a GPS system. It's really amazing to think that it's possible to steer around your house and find where you're at in a matter of seconds. However, when it comes to more broad-based creativity, as in the art form of painting, this kind of system has proved to be of limited effect. The ability to work with a wider range of materials will always have a place in the arts, but it seems that at this stage it's just not viable to achieve the effects that were initially achieved by humans with the help of these machines. When it comes to individual artists, their skills can't simply be replicated with the aid of technology. If it's possible to develop a method where the machines can not only provide real assistance but also have a strong hand in guiding the artist and helping them realise their own unique style, then it's likely that the influence of the system would be felt. However, this would probably take a lot longer than it takes to put up the software system. As long as it's possible to work around the limitations of technology, it would still be possible to build a style that was more accessible than ever before. Another area where you might think that the use of these types of tools would be most beneficial is in games. Certainly, technology is proving useful in making computers more effective when it comes to handling the complexities of the human brain. However, this doesn't mean that games have completely removed the need for skilled players only. This is certainly true, but the medium to play games on has also become more relevant. The fact that it's possible to play console games on a mobile phone is certainly useful in this regard and there are even games available that provide an interactive reality instead of a gaming experience. In the future, this could mean that playing a video game, or playing a game on a console, is going to be a lot more different than it is now. On the other hand, this may mean that it becomes more common to play games with a lot more visual aids and some kind of interactivity added into the mix. The types of computer programs that are being developed are not quite fully controlled by the type of program you are talking about. Therefore, while they may provide some specific answers to certain questions, it's generally the result of a lot of effort on the part of the individual programmer to get the right response from the computer. The additional element of creativity, along with the design experience is what's being used to help humans and creative individuals. It's perhaps going to take a lot longer for these machines to be able to produce the results we've come to expect from them, but in time they may become more useful for creating art and design than they do currently. It may also be that machines will be able to carry out some of the tasks we don't know how to do, but without the right type of application in place, we may never discover what those things are. It may be that at the current pace of technological advancement, we will be able to gradually upgrade these systems and allow us to perform some of the more complex tasks that we need to do. In the long run, it may even be possible for our future to have a robot or artificial intelligence system that we can both interact with and understand. Some experts have suggested that a tele-computer system, known as an Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), could act as a broker in these kinds of situations. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Editors?
Tumblr media
Does the concept of editing by AI make any sense? A simple answer is no, because computers are not trained to do this. Indeed, computers are not capable of that - especially sophisticated editors. Yet the concept of automation can be applied to various processes. In fact, we may start to develop these kinds of systems in our everyday lives. As a human brain, it is very active - processing information. Thus, it can easily process an idea or a problem. However, computers can't think much. You may be aware of the word "think". This word is often used in scientific processes, even though we usually don't realize it. For example, when a computer processor starts to read a particular book in order to be able to recognize it as an example of it's type, it thinks - a lot! In fact, it needs to process this kind of information before it can be able to recognize if that particular book is readable. However, computers aren't that complex, nor are human beings. They require continuous information to be fed to them in order to function. By analogy, humans have to eat, drink and breathe. Yes, they can do it, but not indefinitely. Eventually, they will grow tired and go back to what we call day dreaming. This is a much better way to live, compared to trying to think for three hours everyday. By contrast, as a computer editor, you can edit any document - it doesn't matter if it is a novel, an autobiography, a work of fiction, or an article. To edit in any format - be it Word, Excel, PDF, etc., your computer can use a more advanced system called Linguistic Search Engines (SSE) in order to recognize different languages. Computers really excel at many aspects of human intelligence. They have the ability to spot errors and mistakes with astounding accuracy, find the solution for most questions, and reason well. Editing is no exception. If your editor goes astray and fails to understand the context of the document - it's much easier to correct the whole document instead of just one paragraph - that way the entire document can be revised. The difference between editing by computers and editing by humans is that the former is focused on the goal, while the latter is on the story - which leads to important improvements to the story. Why do we often see mistakes in movies? This is because the intelligent computer program was trained to look for clues, infer the story, and put all the pieces together. So when you see the editing by AI, don't be surprised - it's just a software that was trained to read, to analyze and to rewrite the document by itself. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Doctors?
Tumblr media
Many have asked whether or not doctors can learn how to use artificial intelligence to change the treatment they prescribe for patients. While doctors would probably not be able to make any meaningful changes in the way they prescribe medication, they could likely benefit from having some understanding of what the system is capable of. By using the model of human beings, a doctor might want to show that it could be done. While many people who are enrolled in medical school do not have any interest in applying their expertise in other areas, there are those who choose to change careers when they leave medicine. By showing that AI can work for them, they are helping themselves both professionally and personally. Medical care is one of the most important things that we have. When you are in pain, you want to feel secure in the knowledge that you are getting the best help possible. You don't want to feel like there is no hope of improving your condition. It would be wonderful if we could cure a disease or provide better medical research, but these would be ways that would affect the quality of life for the majority of people who suffer from the conditions. There are those who would argue that if we knew how to improve the quality of life for those who suffer from a medical condition, that wouldn't really be fair. However, the fact remains that by learning more about how to help the majority of people, we would be improving the quality of life for all of us. Those who oppose such outcomes often state that it would be bad for doctors. However, we already know that this kind of knowledge would allow doctors to create a better and more knowledgeable diagnosis. For those who say that the patient would not get to benefit from the work, they are trying to find reasons to limit the benefits that artificial intelligence can bring to society. Doctors have a responsibility to ensure that the health care that they provide is as good as possible. We do not want to allow problems to happen, but we also don't want to get people to the point where it becomes a crisis for our society. We need to make sure that people can benefit from good medical care, but also that everyone is healthy enough to go about their lives in an unimpeded fashion. Although the issue of how artificial intelligence can affect doctors is still a concern, this technology is something that should not be feared. Artificial intelligence is more likely to help those who are most in need. It could lead to better diagnoses, which is something that all of us would like to see. However, those who are interested in artificial intelligence will probably do well to understand just how the field works. At first, doctors would simply be able to see more patterns in how their patients were treating their symptoms. In the long run, though, it could lead to a better understanding of the illness and how the patient would respond to certain treatments. Perhaps more importantly, we might be able to improve medical treatment by learning more about how the patient responds to certain treatments. By knowing what the patient's reactions are to certain treatments, doctors could begin to tailor their treatment plans to their patients' individual needs. Of course, it would still be the job of the doctor to make the final determination on the best course of action. Of course, doctors cannot tell whether or not they will become part of the future of artificial intelligence. We should never forget that there is still a long way to go before doctors can fully utilize their new tools. However, with continued research and development, artificial intelligence might someday be used to help doctors improve the quality of medical care available. Once artificial intelligence is better understood, it might be able to be put to use in the treatment of disease and other health issues that would affect people today. Perhaps someday, the improvements made through artificial intelligence could make it easier for patients to have better quality of life. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Economists?
Tumblr media
What does Artificial Intelligence mean to economists? Well, let's look at the term for a moment shall we? I can think of one famous economic definition: Value. When you talk about financial markets, whether it is stocks, real estate, or anything else, what are the values of all the different assets you hold? How much does it cost to take one of these assets and sell it for a higher value? What will happen if you change that asset from being valued at a certain price to be valued at a higher price? It sounds a little ridiculous, doesn't it? But these things have happened in the last couple of decades, and yes, now we are really getting into the details of how economic forces can actually change the assets and make them more valuable? For example, let's say we have a rise in oil prices, and the value of oil goes up, or maybe there is some other form of energy that becomes more valuable than it did before. What then happens to your value? Yes, this is an example of a new concept, and it could be argued that perhaps our economies could really change if we do something like this. But then again, what happens when oil prices go down, or how about the same thing with gold? The question is, what exactly is Artificial Intelligence? The term itself is a bit nebulous, but the broader idea is that a computer program is able to learn what it takes to buy a stock, when to buy, and when to sell, so that it can make money based on market fundamentals. So how can this benefit any business? Well, one aspect of this is that it will help future proof a business against disruptions, so that it can keep making money even if there is a change in the weather, or something else happens to the energy source of the company. What will this do for a small business owner, though? Well, a very small business owner has to carefully plan his investments in a way that takes into account the likely change in the economy and makes his investment decisions accordingly. That's not something a computer program can do, though it can take in all the information about the market and then make a decision on its own. So will Artificial Intelligence really change economists? Well, there is no denying that it could potentially, especially if the market makers who make billions off the information to go out of business and the vast majority of money comes in from smart algorithms taking it all in. Perhaps the best way to see the future of Artificial Intelligence is by considering the future of human manipulation of the market. This is the greatest fear of many economists because they believe this technology could lead to a socialist society where everybody has to work for the government and that would lead to a future without free markets. Of course, this has already happened in some countries, and it probably won't take place, but nevertheless, it is one of the concerns of economists. So is Artificial Intelligence a threat to human manipulation of the markets? There is no question about that, in fact it would take a significant blow to humans in some countries to make it impossible. However, it would mean some serious manipulation from the side of the computers to get us all hooked into some sort of mandatory labor plan, and I don't think we would be happy about that. So in the end, Artificial Intelligence could change economics, or it could be something positive in a way. It will probably be something of both, as it goes in a direction where humans will be less important, or are far less important. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Engineers?
Tumblr media
Many analysts have predicted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could, in time, transform how we do engineering. Are these predictions realistic? The answer is no. Current AI systems have been used extensively in manufacturing processes and all industries - not just in manufacturing, but in retailing, manufacturing services, retailing and service industries. These machines can perform a large number of tasks without human input, but don't have the ability to "think". They are general-purpose intelligent software and have no mental capacity that would allow them to behave in a creative or artistic way. They can be used to process data, and this is where their usefulness really comes in. Such software can be used to automate repetitive processes or to develop predictive models that can be used to optimize the production processes of a manufacturing facility, for example. Software can also help an engineer to identify and predict which processes need to be automated or not, and even help in the development of new process ideas. IAM is the acronym for the Artificial Intelligence Robot. This robot has a camera and microphone and can imitate the human voice and gestures in order to simulate human conversation. When it is given a set of instructions it will carry out this task autonomously. The IAM system was originally developed by Robert Murphy, an AI expert from Carnegie Mellon University. Robert was trying to develop an engineer who could think and reason in order to solve problems in a variety of ways, and it seems to have worked. In spite of its numerous benefits, though, the IAM system is not able to come up with plans on its own. It needs a human programmer to give it a set of instructions and formulate a series of experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the planned actions. A later version of the IAM system was designed by Rob Simons, who at the time was Professor of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prof. Simons built a prototype, which he called Pong, to demonstrate how the system worked. At the time, Prof. Simons's machine was able to find the best solutions to an infinite set of possible problems. Since then, the Pong has been used by IBM, and many other companies. Most recently, the team from Google have designed a prototype to work with the IBM system, which it will help develop the next generation of IAM systems. The main reason that artificial intelligence is unable to come up with new plans is that it does not have the capability to think creatively. It is like the surgeon's surgeon in the old movies, when the doctor is just after a needle to "kill the cancer" - and that's all that is being accomplished. Artificial Intelligence is another step in the evolution of human intelligence, but not in any way a breakthrough in the domain of engineering. There is still a long way to go, before the next stage of intelligent machines will be able to do all sorts of tasks that humans can do, such as drawing a three dimensional model, and being able to write creative poems. Can Artificial Intelligence Change Farmers?
Tumblr media
Some people are saying it is just a matter of time before farmers have Artificial Intelligence installed in their tractors to make them do the farm work. Is that true? How soon will it happen? Future farmers will have the ability to use the tractor to supplement their income, just like any computer has the ability to do what you do for a living. It's not necessary that we put machines on all farms. As with any other type of technology, the technology will be tested. It will probably take a decade to get to where the tractor's being used are more like hands-on farms. There are some European farmers who are taking steps to implement tractor driven vehicles, which they call the Dansk (Dutch) tractors. The Dutch farming industry is one of the strongest in the world. I think it will work out well, provided they are careful to keep the machine from replacing human effort. We need to get there before there is a shortage of resources because there are not enough people to go around. We know it will be very expensive to drive these vehicles for small numbers of farms, but we don't know how long it will take to get to the point where we have to pay for it, so they are paying for it now. I think it will be fine. Farmers' needs and desires have been met in Europe by the introduction of tractor driven vehicles, but the rest of the world will not wait for the Dansk model. They will have to decide for themselves what direction they want to go in. If you think about it, it may be better to get these things right out in the open now so the buyers can be well informed. Yes, they may cost more to operate than a hand-powered tractor, but what do they do? They give us the ability to work independently on farms and can replace some of the human farm workers. Artificial Intelligent tractors will be able to do everything that a typical tractor does. Some are safer to drive, especially for younger children. I believe these will be the future for farm machinery as long as the farms can afford them. When farmers are happy with what they have, they will sell them for a few hundred dollars to those who will use them and shoot, taser guns or taser cattle. With all the dust and noise, it's hard to feel like you are doing something productive. Children will be less interested in playing and more interested in knocking stuff over. Future farmers will have a lot of decisions to make about which vehicles to buy and which ones to sell. It's not a good way to run a business. If they can afford the new tractors, the old ones should go at least as quickly. With artificial intelligent tractor-driven vehicles, we have made it possible for farmers to turn over half of their work. It takes a certain kind of man to look at all of that and say, "this is too much." What a great idea. These tractors are a huge advance, but they are not the only area in which artificial intelligent vehicle technologies are moving forward. Look for more news about these machines and where they will lead us. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Film Directors?
Tumblr media
Have you ever considered that Artificial Intelligence might be able to change film directors and play a significant role in influencing the way movies are made? The question of AI has become more relevant over the last few years with people such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Stanley Kubrick all creating films with Artificial Intelligence. What makes Artificial Intelligence such a viable choice for movie makers to use in their movies? On the surface, there seems to be no personal value in a computer program to create a movie. That may not seem true to many people, but there are many significant benefits to using such a technology. Firstly, the technology will help to keep the budget of most movies down. AI has already proven to be cost effective, it does not mean that computers will take over the world or out pace human beings with their creativity and skills, but rather will greatly reduce costs of creating a movie. Secondly, the ability to read dialog has also been proven to be beneficial with AI being able to understand people and their body language much better than humans. AI will only be more valuable as it learns and becomes more sophisticated as it is used more widely in movie making. For example, the AI can use this technology to use certain individual characteristics and make a movie to the audience's liking in a much more concise and efficient manner. If it can do this, then the time spent learning to do this will have been much more effective. After we have a good understanding of the system's capabilities, it is possible that the AI could be programmed to create movies with a more specific focus on one aspect of the art. One example could be the art of animation, which if done by an AI can not only be an innovative concept, but something that would offer not only an entertainment experience but also a unique artistic expression to viewers. However, this does not mean that the computer will suddenly be all powerful and become entirely artificial, just that the advancements made by the AI will make it more adaptable, and naturally, natural film makers will begin to consider using it. It is hoped that this will make the art of film making even more dynamic and creative, which could only lead to new trends and techniques to create movies of the future. The fact that AI has been around since the 80's and more recently is not a guarantee that it will be successful at the current scene. There is the possibility that AI will not take off as a major force, and that film makers will continue to rely on other methods. But by giving everyone an understanding of the possibilities, and how AI can be used in their films, it is possible that we could see a significant change in the future. On the flip side, it is important to note that even with such a revolutionary and innovative concept, it is still just a computer program, it cannot alter people or change the current scene in film making. It would need a large amount of time and money to create a realistic movie using the techniques that could be used. So, while it might seem that this type of system could change the art of film making, it would still require a lot of money and technical expertise to use computer programs and films to bring about these changes. However, there are many ways that it can be used in order to improve the overall film making process, and in the future, it could provide both a practical and artistic approach to improving the art of film making. Also, it should be remembered that even though this technology has existed for some time, it has only recently been made available for use. The majority of film makers use older versions of this technology that need a great deal of time and resources to implement, and it is expected that it will take at least the next decade before the majority of those methods are adopted. Although it seems very futuristic, this technology has the potential to make any film that an intelligent man can make, or it could be the first step to an intelligent man that could bring us to an entirely new age of cinema. In either case, with the changes that it will cause to the industry, and the advances that can be made, it is only a matter of time before the line between artificial and man and machine are blurred. Can Artificial Intelligence Change Journalists?
Tumblr media
So, will artificial intelligence change journalists? Of course it will, but it is not going to alter our lives or our jobs any more than the elimination of bees changed our lives. We are going to continue to report the news; I hope that is a comfort to you. In this sense, journalists can use AI to generate content for their websites and articles that would be more likely to be clicked by website visitors. For example, they might collect a broad range of media reports and articles about the same subject and then begin linking from those reports and articles to a short news story. Then, they might again perform the same algorithm, compiling a list of recent articles about a given subject and pulling out the most recent and highest click-through rate. Then they might list the most-read headlines, allowing readers to vote on them. IOM has also developed software that can be employed to help publishers and broadcasters (including newspaper and TV stations) produce specialised magazines and newspapers, as well as other print publications. That software enables publishers to automatically decide the most appropriate titles for their publications. There are some serious advantages to using such software: Some titles are obvious choices and can be researched quickly and easily. A good example of this is the 'mini-edition' of a newspaper - the small print about a particular subject (usually about three or four lines) will normally be the most read news. Other titles might be harder to find, especially if they are not produced by The IOM and are published in third party online sources. So, what if the reader, after finding out what a particular topic is all about, is unable to find any useful information online to help him or her make a decision? One solution is to allow publishers to also display IOM articles in the same form as a tabloid or other such publication. This would mean that readers who wanted to get to the point, and perhaps had a slow connection, would still be able to read the article, and thus be able to see the title and keywords. If one user looked at both IOM publications (for example, with IOM's site viewable online and through the publisher site), the user could then click the IOM link in the publisher site to read the full report. But another way of looking at this is that the two publications are being read together, so readers who clicked on the IOM would also be clicking on the publisher site, and vice versa. This also means that IOM sites could become more valuable to publishers. Most publishers would like to have the largest number of readers, so each user can click through to read what he or she wants. In order to achieve this, publishers could try to combine multiple publishers to have a larger number of links to their content. Readers might consider IOM sites to be lazy, but many were able to find the information they needed without any help from IOM. IOM sites could play a similar role. Authors and editors of IOM sites would benefit, as their content could be syndicated through IOM websites. IOM seems to have stirred up more interest in artificial intelligence and has already spawned a few companies which provide the necessary technologies. These companies include Cognito, Cadence, Flink, Lucene and Pivot. It is also worth noting that several well-known philosophers, including Nick Bostrom and Nick Szabo, are also researchers in artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligent software will shape journalism and the media, but there is still room for improvements to ensure that consumers can gain the maximum benefit. That is what makes this emerging technology such an exciting prospect. IOM can't stop us being journalists; we will still report the news and those with cyborg brains will be required to explain it. Can Artificial Intelligence Change Judges?
Tumblr media
Judge expert witnesses such as psychology experts, physics experts, sociologists, economists, and more will have to continue to discuss the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the legal profession if it is to completely change the role of the legal system. So are these changes likely? Many of these changes are certainly due to the influence of Artificial Intelligence in the legal system. But, these changes may not have any lasting effects on how judges make their decisions in court. Indeed, changes in the way a judge makes his or her decision can have an effect on how judges would react to a legal situation in the future. Will judges of the future be able to make legal decisions with greater empathy? Will judges now more often make "feelings" when making a decision in a case? Will cases be judged in terms of whether a victim agrees with the sentence or whether the defendant was considered to be remorseful? How should judges reach their conclusions? These questions are important because Artificial Intelligence can change how future judges make their decisions in court. Indeed, AI technology is already being used in many areas of law including court data management, speech recognition, database administration, civil rights, labor and employment, medical malpractice, intellectual property, and others. If Artificial Intelligent systems are used in legal proceedings today, what changes are likely? There are several factors that may affect how judges are likely to decide cases. - For example, for hypotheticals, a judge might ask hypothetical questions about whether a defendant and a victim should be given the same penalty. He might also ask what factors influence his decision. In one example, he might ask what would happen if the victim agreed with the defendant's statement that she would be "a good girl." - For hypotheticals, one of the systems used to help make judgments using Artificial Intelligent Systems is called Linguistic Programming. These systems are used to generate specific sentences that will reflect a variety of possible outcomes. These systems are used to increase efficiency in courtroom proceedings. It's possible that in many English-speaking countries, people are already fluent in the foreign language of their birth, especially if they live far from their mother tongue. Language proficiency can also be influenced by culture and religion. These variables could affect the types of sentence a judge would use. - In addition to the characteristics discussed above, Artificial Intelligence will also have an effect on the types of legal decisions that judges will make. There are many scenarios in which judges are likely to rule differently depending on the situation. In some cases, artificial intelligent systems can even be programmed to change their actions based on the inputs it receives. This means that there are no hard-coded instructions. Instead, the judge's decisions will depend on the input it receives and what it learns. While some aspects of Artificial Intelligence systems can definitely influence the way a judge thinks and decides, changes in the use of these systems may be limited. Future AI systems may be built to only enhance efficiency of court proceedings, but they may not change the way the law is interpreted or applied. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Lawyers?
Tumblr media
Are you interested in helping your law firm to make the transition from a human-centric practice to an AI-centric practice? Are you interested in having your firm use the latest technology to improve the practice of law? The problem that every legal services firm faces is that it has no way to meet the demand for legal advice and counsel. There are so many more lawyers than qualified to fill all of the available positions. In the legal field, there are always going to be jobs opening up. Many companies need lawyers in their business and it seems that the jobs will continue to grow. And all of the lawyers will need to fill out the high volume of cases so the work load will increase even more. This means that many businesses will be seeking to hire lawyers. Clients will continue to demand the help of a lawyer because they are the best people to take care of their personal needs. Lawyers will find themselves competing for the same jobs as they do now, in order to satisfy client expectations. It is no surprise then that many lawyers will be looking for work and one of the ways that they can find that work is to hire AI firms. These AI firms can be your link to employment opportunities in the legal services industry. They can help you get the work you need and you can see whether your services are valuable enough to provide the kind of income that you desire. The AI service company can give you an extensive assessment of your talent and ability and the results will show you the area where you can improve and provide value to your clients. It is very difficult to find work in the legal services industry but if you have the right skill set and are able to show that you can meet the level of demand that you will see yourself filling, you will have a better chance of finding work. The next step is to find a job at an AI firm. The best way to do this is to ask your friends and family what they know about AI. Some want to stay in-the-know while others want to see things happen. How will you know what you should do next? You can always consult your local or regional recruiter to help you find the best possible position for you. But even if you are in a recruitment meeting and not sure about what to say, one way to make a good impression is to bring up your desire to have your firm use AI in the legal services area. There are many reasons why this area of technology will be used in the legal services area, but the main reason is that these robots can carry out all of the tasks that a human can. AI software is used by many other industries as well. There are some that offer legal advice. The next logical step is to look at a job at an AI firm. If you want to have your own AI robot that can solve all of your problems, you will need to start by knowing how to train the AI to carry out tasks for you. Most AI robots work on computer programs designed by humans. That is why you have to ensure that the company you choose uses good quality software that is safe for human intervention. For example, there is a need for many legal services to be able to save their data properly. AI robots will not be capable of doing this. They will need to be updated by humans that have knowledge about how to operate these programs. This means that they can only deal with legal issues that are new to them and thus they will not be ready to handle the older issues that will continue to come up. Youneed to ensure that the company you choose is not only a good place to work but that it is a company that will uphold your ethical responsibilities as well. No matter how hard you try, AI cannot duplicate human judgment and personality. The machine does not have the same feelings and can be more easily tricked into doing things that you may consider unethical. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Managers?
Tumblr media
Will the success of artificial intelligence to change the way managers are managed? Will it allow them to work from home and take vacations? Is this something that is happening in two or three years? There are several things to consider when it comes to this type of development. First, if it does eventually happen, will it be beneficial? Most jobs are automated today, and this will almost certainly continue to happen as artificial intelligence continues to improve. Will this affect those who are managers? For senior managers, they need to understand how this may affect their work style. Artificial intelligence will allow them to work more hands-on with data collection and research. Will this improve their productivity? Managers typically do not like working with computers. They feel that it makes them subordinate, and as a result they have less respect for many computer users. Will this affect senior managers and give them more power to get what they want? Will they be able to tell management what they want, when they want it? Will they become a leader or just an employee? This could be a big issue. Will they need to figure out the best way to interact with others and develop that leadership role that they want? Will this change the way managers operate? Do they need to think more about their objectives, and if so, how? Managers would have to weigh this against the benefits, and see which is better. How much control does a manager have over management decision making? Are managers working with more work load, or more autonomy? If they need more time to focus on decision making, will they lose their attention? It may make sense to seek help, and whether that is from your colleagues or someone outside the organization. A good HR representative can help to give insight and support. A consultant can also help to develop strategies to help you make decisions. Many of these questions may seem silly at first, but a person needs to ask them, especially if they are planning to make a move in management. The way that managers view their tasks and the type of work that they do has a lot to do with the direction they will choose for themselves. If artificial intelligence does change the way managers are managed, it could lead to a new way of doing things, but it would be necessary to develop the skills that managers need to stay competitive. We may never know the answers to these questions, but it is important to ask them. If we do not, we will end up with managers who think the way they were trained, and not the way that they really should. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Musicians?
Tumblr media
Will the invention of artificial intelligence or "artificial super-intelligence" doom the musicians? There's a lot of noise out there about this topic, and even more claims by fringe authors that will be disregarded in this article. But I can assure you that is will not happen! Artificial super-intelligence is the aim of many technology writers and critics. Their stated aim is to create artificial super-intelligence which they feel will make humans obsolete and eventually destroy the human race. It is not as if I have never seen or heard of these silly claims. They've been getting some attention lately. I even had one musician comment on my blog, stating that there was no way he'd ever see music written by a computer. The ridiculous claim that is being made here is that musicians will no longer play. They'll become robots. There's no question that the quality of music is increasing exponentially as computers become more proficient at playing different kinds of music, but the question here is whether artificial intelligence will lead to musicians losing their human qualities and mental alertness. The only way that an AI could ever threaten musicians is by replacing them. If AI were to be developed to the point where it could do everything a musician does except play the guitar better, there would be a world of difference between the musician and the computer. Not all computer games are good, so an AI which did everything like a musician would be totally irrelevant. Music is music. It is good enough for us to enjoy it. Even better, it is recorded by great artists who enjoy the business and artistic pleasures of making music and preserving it for future generations. If an AI can produce some good music, that's a bonus, not a problem. It may seem to some people that future's research is too far away to see any potential threat to musicians. The possibility should not be dismissed. Consider for a moment what will happen if computers are smarter than humans when it comes to solving problems and analyzing data. Suppose an AI program were programmed to solve some problem where humans are often better at problem solving skills. It could easily figure out a way to make cars run faster and how to develop safety equipment. It would be very interesting indeed to watch the world's economy come apart as millions of new jobs are created and nothing is done to replace those. Artificial intelligence is the future of computers. As we develop computer science and engineering, it's important to remember that someday soon, this program will be smarter than our own brains and can solve problems much more effectively. This has profound implications for all of humanity. The bad news is that as with other great technological challenges, this one won't go away. The good news is that the capabilities of computer software will increase dramatically over the next few decades. Soon, we will see that it will be possible to have virtually any kind of computer program run on an AI. We don't know what the future holds for artificial intelligence. However, if future research and development to continue on the path that it has been on lately, the possibility of artificial super-intelligence being made is a very real one. Let's hope it doesn't occur. Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Nurses?
Tumblr media
As the companies that use AI software and programs to run their business go up, the question becomes, can artificial intelligence change nurses? In other words, how will the shift of jobs to caregiving industries change the nursing profession. The answer is more complex than that. It is a well known fact that humans and machines are far from being equals. We have jobs to do. Machines cannot do things we can't even begin to think of. To think in terms of the job of a nurse, that is to be able to provide care to patients that are sick or injured, it takes some understanding of biology. How is a piece of machinery, which is nothing more than an electronic circuit, going to work with a patient that lives in a body? To think that it can, is to believe in magic, and should be regarded as a waste of time. Not only that, but if a machine can become emotionally attached to a patient, to what can you say about its emotional value? Are humans a special type of animal, or a mental creation? Of course not. So if you have to go beyond the science of the machines, and take their intelligence into account, how would you know if they were competent or not? How would you know if the robots weren't just projecting the image of an intelligent being? Would we want a robot like that caring for our children, or would we want a human? Training for the position could take a few years, maybe even a lifetime. That is how much time it takes to develop a skill set. There is a difference between training to be a nurse and being a nurse. With caregiving being such a job, there is no reason to believe that those who are chosen to become caregivers, will be less competent, or capable of being challenged by an AI program. In the medical field, the professional requirements for healthcare professionals vary depending on the type of service required. A nurse, an emergency room doctor, a psychiatrist, and a physician all have different education, and training requirements. There are different things that need to be learned in each of these positions. Another important thing to consider is whether we want to see a person skilled at one task being replaced by another, perhaps even by another job, or activity. We don't want to lose what it means to be a nurse. That is the way to go about taking care of patients. There is no reason to think that the human condition will be changed just to do the same job that machines can do. Intelligent machines are always a long way from being capable of handling everything that can be expected of them. In fact, the demands of the environment have been such that machines are often unable to perform, and therefore cannot learn. It is the role of humans to bring about change. If you are waiting for AI to become a threat to human life, then you are having it both ways. Caregiving is not something that can be replaced with a computer program, or even with technology. Technology, computer programs, software, and programs are not capable of being in the position of a nurse, or of working alongside a family doctor, while also being able to treat patients who are in great pain. Now that artificial intelligence has been studied, it has proven to be useful. AI is a valuable tool that is useful to those in the healthcare field. They are capable of providing high quality care to patients. Can Artificial Intelligence Change Nurses? Read the full article

Can Artificial Intelligence Change Salespersons?
Tumblr media
What are the advantages of using Artificial Intelligence in sales? Isn't that a bit like trying to predict the weather? It seems so. But, remember, it is the product of Artificial Intelligence and that means, if there is anything that will ever alter the world around us, Artificial Intelligence is the one thing that can do it. Is that not amazing? Isn't that what made this planet to be able to exist? Well, how exactly Artificial Intelligence can change salespersons and how it can change the world around them is something that is being investigated by the machines and their creators. I am not talking about humans; I am talking about the robots in the corporate world. The purpose for them doing this is simple: make sure they do not lose any more of their fortune to the business-savvy people. After all, these are the ones who will ultimately make the world better. They do it now by using automated marketing and advertising systems, simply called programs. These use the concept of artificial intelligence to create an environment where we do not know where to put our money. That is what the robots do. Are you aware that some of the top salespersons of our time are usually those who have done well using these robots? These are the ones who can be depended on for advice, who can advise on certain business matters and, above all, who can make recommendations to their close friends. Some of them even make use of their contacts in the business world to get such persons as their clients. So, what do you think will happen to the salespeople of tomorrow when they realize the power of Artificial Intelligence? Will they rely on these robots? Will they stop making sales? Will such salespersons not make as much as they are making now? And how will they earn and spend the money they make from sales? This has nothing to do with Artificial Intelligence, it has everything to do with the operation of our machines, human beings. Indeed, Artificial Intelligence is indeed amazing. There is no doubt that we will face some problems if we allow it to take over all our functions in our society. But, you cannot deny the fact that this technology can be used to solve our problems. Remember, we will see an era when we do not need human salespersons anymore and when we will have no need for this expensive job at all. This technology will continue to develop, evolve and change, but there will come a day when Artificial Intelligence will completely replace human beings in this world. It is this potential which makes it all so fascinating. But, I can assure you, the truth is that there are certain salespeople who will fight until the end and do not care whether we succeed or fail. No matter what is done, their hearts will never go into the idea of success. They are just like animals and, while some of them will run into extinction, others will be consumed by it. Remember, Artificial Intelligence is the future of our technological evolution. Now is the time to harness its power and see how far it can go. Read the full article
