     her words are most definitely  slurred  , but that doesn’t put an end to her philosophical approach to such things. after all ,  every question  , no matter how pointless it may seem , deserves consideration and thought. and the strike commander’s inquiry is , in fact , the furthest thing from  pointless . even so , she cannot fathom why he’d ask such a thing  ——  but she supposes , in the end ,  alcohol loosens the tongue  .

     “  everyone  fears  SOMETHING  , darlin’ . perhaps you think  less  of me for the way i view my work , but i am the same as anyone else. ” she downs the remainder of her whiskey  ——  her fourth glass this evening . can he blame her ? getting personal with  jack morrison  of all people is quite the strange experience for her. “ do you wonder what it is that frightens me ? perhaps that i’ll never see my work through , or that some morally—charged opponent of my research will off me ‘fore i’ve seen my peak ? ” the chuckle that follows is hollow , unamused as it’s accompanied by a fervent shake of the head. “ no. you would be very surprised by the truth indeed , commander. ”

     there is a pause.  hesitation  . but any discretion she attempts to maintain is easily overruled by her intoxication.

Something I am noticing more and more is that people are following, but no one is interacting with one another. So to ease some people’s fears, why not tell one another why? Keeps others from agonizing of what they have or haven’t done.
