genuinely can’t stress enough if you’re in high school rn and anyone is telling you that’s the best time of your life they are lying. it gets better. hs is arguably the worst. if you can survive that you can survive anything. despite the horrors i know i’m always posting about i swear life is so much better as an adult

I never saw people say stuff like this enough when I was a teenager, so I’m saying it now.

I’m in my mid-thirties and I have never had sex. I’ve thought about it and could have had one or two opportunities if I put in more effort, but I always decided against it because I just wasn’t into it at the time.

I can safely say that I do not feel I have missed out on anything. I was perfectly capable, by myself, of learning about my own body and boundaries without anyone else there to muddy the waters. The immense pressure that was there in my teens/twenties to Have Sex Just Do It is basically gone. I’m vibing. I’ve got my routine by myself in bed that I enjoy, and that’s enough for me.

And in the unlikely event that I ever decide to have sex with someone in the future, I don’t feel at all like I’m lacking some essential Knowledge or Skill that would “make it good” for someone else. I fully expect to ask my partner out loud what they like and to receive an answer clearly communicated and to relax and have fun. And if it’s a disappointing experience, I’m fine with that too. It is what it is.

Sex is just not that big of a deal. I suspected it as a teen, and I’m more sure of it now. It’s fine to have it or not have it. It’s whatever.

a funny anecdote from my youth that people never appreciate as funny and always have too many follow up questions about is that when I was 14 one of my roommates stole my phone and used it exclusively for bad music and dick pics and I only recovered it because one of my other roommates took pity on me and pulled that guy up by the legs and shook him until he confessed (yes like a cartoon villain) and the guy then ran downstairs and tried to burn down our house except his idea of arson was just holding a lighter to the outside of the building which did nothing but lightly singe the facade. anyway I ended up getting a new phone because of that.

Let's talk I know I don't have many followers but I wish everyone would see this... Women here are shy to talk about this but I won't be shy and I will tell you a little bit of my experience because some of you will feel disgusted (I don't know why) During my period I didn't have sanitary pads. Do you know what I did? I had to tear some of my clothes and make pads for my period and the really painful thing was trying to hide myself while I was washing them. The pain here became double. First, the pain of using these poorly handmade pads and the biggest pain was trying to hide myself while I was washing and hanging them. In fact, I was proud that I was able to help myself in providing an alternative, but the biggest shock was when the symptoms started to appear on me, severe infections, rashes and severe pain in the vaginal area...

this july i’ve been mostly keeping gazan families in mind as it’s hard for me to continue supporting my country when my tax dollars go to keeping the people of gaza under siege.
