the eighth of this month officially marked one year since i made the decision to make my versions of the lotf characters into ocs. though them being called "the shoreliners" is a fairly recent development (even though they're somehow half a year old already), taking that first step to make them truly mine will forever be the best decision i have ever made.

i remember the first time i called ralph raeburn, simon amélie, piggy ritchell, and so on. even while they were the island kids, they brought me so much joy. despite having no plotline or goal, they captured me. i loved drawing them as my own, and knowing that no matter where they took me, i'd always have that.

when they became the shoreliners, something clicked. it felt like they had truly become themselves. i needed that, i think; to realize that i was still holding on to some part of their lotf days, and that's just not who they were anymore. it felt so freeing to see them as they were always meant to be. now, when i draw them, write about them, or even look at them, it feels so right. they were and always will be my shoreliners.

to all of you who have supported the shoreliners, or even so much as saw them in passing: thank you for taking this journey with me. i will continue to draw and post about the shoreliners until they're pried from my cold dead hands.

and to the shoreliners: i love you all so, so much. thank you for being around for a year, and making it one of the best years of my life.

a (semi-)brief introduction to the meta music-makers of my shakespeare-aligned projects

verona violets, or the verona violets, are the earliest and most developed of the shakespearean musicians. their music ranges from classical to rock to folk to jazz and anything in between. they essentially just make whatever they want to within their instrument range. their music usually focuses on the conflict/rivalry/plot as a whole rather than individual events.

reaction girl is a french self taught vocalist and guitarist. she had never been serious about music until she found the verona violets, and decided to make some music critiquing their songs (hence her stage name "reaction girl"). she was an almost instantaneous hit, and has been releasing songs ever since. her music heavily focuses on individual events and aims to put the listener in the shoes of the characters at that moment.

synopsis:

"a venetian and a florentine walk into a bar", usually shortened to AVAAFWIAB for convenience, is the first and only othello-aligned band in this list. they're a traveling duo who initially met in- you guessed it- a bar. they treat their music more as comedy than anything. their music is solidly within the indie genre. (and yes, they are actually from venice and florence; invidia and claudio respectively).
