sometimes fandom seems to struggle with the concept that...people can be kind/"good people" in some situations and very very not kind/not "good people" in others.

I feel like there's this urge to either write off the positive behavior as "fake" or to find a way to ignore/explain away/write out the negative behavior. and I personally find this really really irritating in both directions, actually

in subsequent rewatches of this cutscene, i’ve learned that it’s a rather divisive moment, as there’s some question within the CC:FFVII fandom as to how Cloud, who is not a supersoldier himself or even particularly strong for a human, can manage an acrobatic feat like this

take note of the form of attack used here, and remember that within the FFVII universe, the concept of the Limit Break is not just a gameplay mechanic, but a phenomenon that actually exists. triggered by moments of heightened emotion or life threatening peril, a Limit Break can allow even a regular human to briefly perform feats of superhuman strength and agility

i believe that what we’re seeing here is not meant to be a typical display of Cloud’s abilities, but in fact an early manifestation of his Level 1 Limit Break, Braver
