so i know by now a lot of people think/know that there is tension between modest and the boys (especially louis) so i wanted to make a post organizing what i thought was going on. basically i organized it as things that are done by the boys against modest and things that modest have done against the boys (in the past few months). 

disclaimer: this is ALL purely speculation, i do not believe any of these things as 100% factual truth, it is my opinion!

THE BOYS VS. MODEST

the VERY PUBLIC relationship with the Azoffs

harry papped very frequently with jeff azoff and the luncheon with the entire family

niall and liam court side at knicks (irving azoff has a cut in the knicks now and his new business is MSG entertainment? i’m sure he’s more than capable of courtside seats)

jeff coming around right before the rovers went through

the crowdfunder (also used by Zach Braff, also managed by CAA)

the SA press conference

louis’s outright ANGER towards dan wootton asking about the girlfriends, and asking about harry’s tinder. he did not agree with anything that they were saying or that they were trying to push. and he was outwardly harsh about it, when previously he hadn’t been so aggressive. 

WEEDGATE

need i say more? louis leaked it. he wanted results, and he had the power to do it. so he did. 

the eleanor minder article

now i’m unsure if this was intentionally modest to threaten louis or if louis spun it afterwards to lead in his favor.. but saying that eleanor is on their payroll is not something modest wants. AT ALL. 

sophiam vs. elounor in manchester

okay so both boys were papped that night going into the hotel, seemingly for a parade in the morning however in the morning louis was papped alone (smirking) while eleanor left two hours earlier alone, and sophiam were papped together. was the plan for both couples to be papped that morning? did louis foil that plan? because it kinda seemed like a faulty set up. 

another note about elounor—–the closet/locker pic on niall’s instagram? as in.. a direct retaliation to eleanor being flown with them today? EDIT: or a direct retaliation to her having to parade around with him in Paris. Which he did not initiate in any way shape or form. His blatant disregard for her, and interaction with niall was about all he could do to fight back

leaking that modest was delaying the rovers deal 

we should have not known that information. these deals are kept quiet, but we knew that modest was the reason the deal was not going through. the articles blamed modest only, not louis. 

EDIT: ot5 selfies

there have been a few ot5 selfies lately even though we haven’t gotten any ot5 interaction in like forever, i feel like them taking selfies and liam posting them is like them trying to give us something that assures us they’re the “ot5 ride or die” like we know they are since they’re not allowed to do it

EDIT: harry being increasingly “camp” on stage

nail polish on stage!!!!! letting his hair run wild!!! dancing like a princess!!!! all the bananas!!!  i highly doubt all of these things correlate with the heteronormative image modest has picked out for harry

oh and a separate bullet for this: HAPPY PRIDE!!!!!!!!!! which leads me to…

i honestly do not think harry would have so obviously picked out that girl and drawn attention to her multiple times if this was TMH. hell if it was even the beginning of the tour i don’t think it would have been done. harry saw an opportunity to show support for the one thing that he’s supposed to hate, and he took it. 

EDIT: the eleanor fan picture for the rovers

now i know this is being played off as it was the web designers pick, and they had no idea, but seeing as i just googled “louis tomlinson with fan picture”, “louis tomlinson selfie” and “louis tomlinson selfie with fan” and this picture that was used only came up on page 2 of the last one.. when there are plenty of other viable options out there, i’m not going to think that this was a completely unintentional accident from a web designer (not to mention eleanor is in a ton of the pics that show up on google even the olympics kiss one when you type in his name, is this web designer so oblivious he missed that too?). if eleanor was really louis’s girlfriend, could you imagine her reaction to this? to him basically saying anyone can take her spot? i think this was intentionally done in order to make a joke out of the concept of elounor. 

MODEST VS. THE BOYS

eleanor still being around?

eleanor tweeted a lot of promo, for that solely she needed to have a contract. that stopped and her media presence stopped months ago! At least one part of her contract is up if she’s not tweeting or being online promoting. I think her contract is technically up, however there could still be a new one. 

Eleanor still being around could be holding it over Louis’s head like “hey, remember, she exists and no matter if you’re seen with her or not, we control how it’s perceived to the fandom. even though you do nothing, they still believe. ”

she’s literally being flown around, with no backstage access, no interaction with them, or anything. She’s just there, and not because it’s an organized pap trip. It’s just a reminder for him, not us. 

I also think the impromptu ski trip to France in January was against Louis for him so recklessly being in LA, i mean impromptu because of the oil tweets beforehand (a better timeline found here).  (also then them going to jamaica right after, which could have been planned for months or could have been a fuck you right back)

EDIT: her being in Paris as referred to above would be because of something, the thing is i can not for the life of me think for what.. they didn’t parade her in england, which would be where expected and where he would be “punished” for weedgate.. but she was brought in Paris? there had to have been something behind the scenes that we don’t know about.. or they’re just poor at planning

harry vs. the band narrative

the first article the sun posts after weed gate was about harry thinking louis was being immature and reckless… what else would anger louis more than people thinking him and harry were fighting on top of being mortal enemies?

EDIT: all of those pap pictures of harry solo? were they really necessary?

delaying the rovers

modest wanted more money, yes of course they did. BUT modest wanted to fuck louis over and get more money at the same time. how else then to delay his deal at the very last minute?

i don’t really know why they have taken away such a fan favorite part of the show but the only thing i could think of is that they would want to silence the boys a little bit, take away a bit of their freedom. the questions is their time to literally be themselves and maybe that is a risk no one wants to take. after all, harry DID say “happy pride” the first chance he got those questions back for the dvd (little rebellious lion)

EDIT: harry favoriting a porn tweet

i don’t care why this tweet was favorited, how it was favorited, or whether it was intentional or not because i simply do not know. what i do know however is that modest/hjpr left this tweet up for 8 almost 9 hours, and left harry HIMSELF, a 20 year old boy, handle the situation. they are a company designed to protect their clients, and they left harry in the dark. this was completely disrespectful and i’m horrified they would even stoop so low. 

i’m adding in the liam/duck dynasty thing in this too, because they never made a statement about that either. they left liam to gasp at straws and try to handle this himself, (a terrible idea that left him digging himself a deeper hole but regardless), it seems clear that harry wasn’t the only target of the “handle it yourself” card

basically i think there are really obvious and really big moves being made by both the boys and modest/hjpr. these things are almost immediate retaliations from the opponents strike. It’s like a boxing match, trying to attack and defend at the same time. I don’t know the end goal, and i don’t know what they’re moving towards. But just watching is really interesting. 

edit: also something i noticed just recently, if this was a back and forth, and it’s mostly louis attacking modest.. are they punishing harry because of it?

Hello! If you are still taking prompts, this picture has always felt like a prompt to me. Baby boyfriends at its finest and Louis in his little glasses just sends me! So maybe shy, nervous Louis and adorable curls and dimples Harry at the beginning of their relationship?

(oh my god. baby awkward boyfriends. though i feel like they must have never had an awkward stage because i mean, come on, they jumped into each other's arms but still)

"Oh, can you pass me the-" Louis gets cut off as Harry hands over the sugar bowl, already anticipating. "Thanks, love."

"Yep. Course." Harry faces his own cup of tea, but he keeps peaking up through his eyelashes at Louis. "Need anything else?"

"No, I'm good." Louis fiddles with his fringe while he stirs two teaspoons of sugar into his tea. They've been left alone in the front of the bus, everyone else in the back watching a movie. It's still early afternoon though and Louis knows that Harry is kind of a stickler about a schedule. He likes his tea time at 3:30pm, especially if they have the stuff to make a few little sandwiches or have a few small cakes. Harry claims he's just a regular guy, but the other lads rib him constantly for being so posh.

"Do you-" Harry starts, then pauses, then sighs, then continues. "Do you uh want to go back with them?" He hooks a thumb over his shoulder. "I think they're watching Fast and the Furious."

"Do you want to go back there?" Louis asks, picks up his tea and takes a sip. Harry really does a good job at steeping Yorkshire, just strong enough to have a bite but not bitter.

"No, I'm okay." Harry shakes his head and his curls move with the movement. "I can read though or something." He half heartedly gestures to the copy of Animal Farm near him. "If you want to, it's fine. I'm not trying to bore you or anything."

"Nah." Louis, in a move that would make Danny Zuko proud, spreads his arm along the booth seat and around Harry's shoulders. "I'd rather spend time with you."

"Are you sure?" Harry's whole face has gone a flattering shade of red, but he still looks up at Louis, charmed.

"Yeah, baby, of course." Louis, brave as ever at eighteen, leans in and presses the lightest of kisses to Harry's cheek. "Love spending time with you."
