Do they believe in the paranormal? If so, have they had any supernatural encounters? As mentioned here, Mikado is actually close friends with a dullahan. It’d probably offend her if he decided he didn’t believe in fairies.
His best-girl-friend-but-not-quite-girlfriend also houses some sort of demon sword spirit-thing, but he’s not really supposed to know about that.

the excessively detailed headcanon meme!
2. Does he have any daily rituals? He doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary, no.
6. What are his eating habits like?Mikado often forgets to eat regularly. It’s not because he lacks the appetite, but moreso because he tends to keep himself so occupied that food’s often the last thing on his mind.
When he does remember to eat, he usually cooks for himself. His meals are never too extravagant— very rarely do they stretch beyond a bowl of rice and a few side dishes.
7. What’s his favorite way to waste time? How does he feel about wasting time?Though it's not his favorite way to waste time, Mikado has a tendency to overthink things. It ends up taking a lot of his time.
He isn’t too pedantic about how well he spends his time, but he’d rather not waste it if he has the choice.
8. What’s his favorite way to indulge himself? How does he feel about indulging?Mikado is a very modest person. He rarely, if ever, indulges himself-- he doesn't find any need to, so he doesn't.
12. What’s his favorite book genre? He finds that action and adventure novels tend to be good reads. On occasion, he also takes recommendations from Walker and Erika.
13. What’s his sexual orientation? What are his thoughts on sexual orientation in general?Sexual orientation has never really been a big thing for Mikado. He has strong feelings for his friend, Anri, but he doesn't act on them out of fear he might ruin his relationship with her and more importantly, Masaomi.
18. What’s his favorite beverage? If he can't have water, he takes coffee or tea. Other drinks (especially soft drinks/soda and juices) are too sweet for him.
19. What does he think about before falling asleep at night?A lot. Sometimes, it's simple-- he might think about tomorrow's lunch, or what he'll need to bring to class the next day. Other times, it gets a lot more complicated-- he questions himself and his actions often, and it tends to keep him up at night.
24. Is there one subject of study that he excels at?While it’s not his favorite subject (info tech is), Mikado is probably best at math. Formulae come much easier to him than historical dates and literary quotes do.
30. How would he react to a sudden interpersonal disaster? It depends on what’s happened and who’s involved. It’s less likely to bother him if it doesn’t involve Anri or Masaomi, but there are exceptions.
31. What’s his most prized possession? His dearly beloved. He never leaves home without it.
34. What are his thoughts on privacy? Is he a private person?Mikado keeps to himself, but it’s not entirely because he values privacy. He tends not to bother others with whatever’s on his mind out of fear they might think less of him.
36. What makes him feel guilty? He feels that, as the leader of DOLLARS, he has a certain obligation to keep everyone in line. It's a bit ridiculous to ask a single high school student to look after thousands of people, but he feels responsible if things get out of hand.
38. What recharges him when he’s feeling drained? The internet. He spends a lot of his free time surfing the 'net.
40. How misanthropic is he? Mikado’s not so much antisocial as he is introverted. He has trouble generally associating with and speaking to others, but he doesn’t hate having company.
41. What hobbies does he have?Mikado frequents forums and chat rooms online.
44. Is he superstitious? Does he believe in the occult?Yes and no(?). If it counts, he’s pretty good friends with a certain Irish fairy, but he doesn’t believe in much else.
45. Does he express his thoughts through words or deeds?Mikado is more likely to express his thoughts through words than deeds.
48. If he were to get into a fist fight, what would his fighting style be like? Absolute shit. As Masaomi says, he “looks like an amateur” and generally “isn’t good at fighting” (but that’s a huge understatement).

One week. One week had he been stuck here, away from friends, away from home. One week had he been subject to the scientists and their wiles. It'd been one week since it all began, but he'd yet to really accept that this was real. He'd yet to really accept that he was here, and that he wasn't going home for a very long time.
When Izaya happened across him, drenched from head to toe, he refused to look up. He refused to look him in the eye. He didn't want to be seen like this; he didn't want to be seen in a position so powerless, so weak.

".. Izaya-san."
Mikado paused, his lips steady. What was he supposed to say? What could he say? 'It's nice to see you, too,' maybe. If he said that, though, he'd be lying. It wasn't nice to see him here. Seeing Izaya here left an odd taste in his mouth-- a taste he decided he definitely didn't like.
"Why--" His brow furrowed. He knew the answer to that question. "What are you doing here?
With Kuronuma being in the city for so long, it’s a wonder that it’s only now that Ryuugamine is showing up, too. Sure, maybe there’s something behind it: isolating the tactician from his figurehead, wrenching a young and well-established authority from his roots — or, it could be they just plain don’t like him. Whatever the reason, Mikado is here now, and Izaya…
Does he look uncultured to you? Leaving a helpless teenage boy in the big, big city, nowhere to go, not a soul to turn to — let it be said that that’s just not him.
Finding Ryuugamine is easy enough. He manages to locate the boy almost near the third sector, the dreary weather scattering most and seeing the good cityfolk flee inside. It’s not the bright, sunny backdrop he’d personally prefer, but… it’ll do. They’ve met under weirder circumstances, anyway!
Izaya tilts the brim of his umbrella back and steps forward, offering the teenager an intrigued smile.
And you know what? He’s lying.

'Ryuugamine-kun? Hey — long-time-no-see. How’ve you been.’
Other people might think Ryuugamine’s helpless — but him? He knows better.
Here’s a kid who’s more formidable than anybody would ever think.

1, 3, 10, 11, 16?
the excessively detailed headcanon meme!
1. What does Mikado’s bedroom look like?Mikado’s room is, unsurprisingly, very modest. It’s organized and tidy, yes, but there’s not much for him to clean— he finds little need for anything more than a bed, a desk and a bookcase.
3. Does he exercise? Not really, no. He’s never really been one for PE, and it shows.
10. Is he neurotic? Does he recognize it?He probably isn’t entirely aware of it himself, but he borderline obsesses over his friends. Anyone who dares threaten them or their safety, as Aoba knows, will end up having to “stomach the full wrath of [his] anger”.
11. Any intellectual pursuits?Mikado finds himself reading every now and again, but when you’re at the top of one of the biggest gangs in the country, you don’t really have time for hobbies.
16. What is his biggest long term goal?Anri and Masaomi mean everything and more to him. Though it’s a bit of an unrealistic goal (read: an incredibly unrealistic goal), he plans on creating a perfect world they can comfortably return to.

Shock registers first. Disbelief and denial both tie for a close second, but Mikado eventually swallows his unease and accepts that, yes-- Masaomi is here, too.
It's been months, he thinks. It's been months since they'd last seen each other. To see Masaomi again here, in the Hive, doesn't seem right. He wants Anri to be here, too. He wants to make sure that the three of them can be together. He wants to make sure that the three of them can be happy together. It's not fair.
Tears blur his vision. They well and build in his eyes, but he refuses to let them fall. I can't cry, Mikado tells himself. I can't cry, or I'll be giving him a reason to laugh at me. He's played their meeting through his mind so many times, so why is he so unprepared? Why doesn't he know what to say or do?
He can't quite decide how he feels just yet. He can't quite decide which words are best used to express himself.
He can only stare.

spare-a-tercera
Not the strange nor the weird irk Mikado.
That's not entirely true, actually. They bother him to a certain extent, but it's less a fear of the unknown and more a sense of intrigue; it's more a desire to further understand them. He's less inclined to shock what with the diversity of the Hive's populace, but Nelliel - with her too-green hair and her too-white outfit - still sticks out like a sore thumb.
".. your eyes are yellow," he says, very matter-of-factly. Only after he says so, though, does he catch himself thinking aloud and staring.
"Ah--!! Excuse me--" His voice cracks. He's never really been good with women. "I-- I--.. um, sorry."
