Interactivity of the Viewers:
The viewers are able to be involved with the series online on  various social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. They are able to have an input in certain weeks story lines through polls and surveys. They can have their say on how a storyline develops or suggest ideas on a completely new plot.
There will be competitions that will be run exclusively online for people that are interactive with the with show’s online presence.
We will also have website where viewers can sign up and subscribe for exclusive content and special extras.
19.10.17 Feedback on ‘The Pot Heads’
Firstly, well done on bring your presentation together. You have used existing programmes (Top Boy and Breaking Bad) and reworked them into a concept for your target audience (replacement for Holllyoaks time slot) by devising a potentially successful (working) idea.
You have thought about competition, product placement as well as basic production research considerations (actors, resources
Things to consider to make you evidence stronger are:
You must conduct (as well as document the fact you have done it) primary research into the viability of your idea, capture people’s opinions and discuss outcomes/ findings (whether to take on board feedback received or not).
Create a sketch/ image to clearly explain the ‘hierarchy’ of the gangs you discussed in your presentation.
Create more detailed and clear character biographies for each of your key characters. Kill the bullet points (visually confusing).
Add more rationale/ description to the images you put forward in your presentation, (Why are they there? Why do they matter?).
Try to clarify the layout of the budget, overall total is unclear.
Think bout what ‘health and safety’ measures you will need to consider within production when filming dangerous gang-related acts).
It might be worth considering how the interactivity of the viewers (Facebook and Twitter) can feed in to the changing seasonal storyline changes you discussed in the presentation). Provide a few examples of what storylines (subplots) will evolve.
—————————————————–
Remember - at the start of your presentation begin with the title and discussing how the title captures the concept/ story.

Market Research & Production Research
 Market Research
The process of gathering, analyzing and interpreting information about a market, about a product or service to be offered for sale in that market, and about the past, present and potential customers for the product or service; research into the characteristics, spending habits, location and needs of your business's target market, the industry as a whole, and the particular competitors you face .
-https://www.entrepreneur.com/encyclopedia/market-research (Entrepreneur Network)
Some businesses choose to not research and rely instead on the know-how and instincts of the entrepreneur to ‘guess’ customer requirements. A reason behind this is because market research cost time and money.
Examples/Types of Primary Market Research:
Surveys, Focus Groups, Observations and In-depth Interviews.
Examples/Sources of Secondary Market Research:
Websites,Competitor websites and materials, University faculty members,Government reports,Industry analysts.
Production Research
Production research is always needed when developing a new product. It is research to help give information on the characteristics of the product. It focuses on the production of a product, in other words, how it's made.
-https://www.slideshare.net/marleylong/audience-27055236 (Slide Share)
It helps to give characteristics of the new product. It focuses on the production of the product. It also deals with what is inside the physical product and also the history or reasons behind the actual product.
Identifying “needs” in order to create / make the production:
Props, Budget, Performers, Pre-Production, Post-Production. Legal Requirements, Hazards, Risk Assessment, Resources, Shelters (location), Equipment for the weather. Locations. Cost. Personel/Crew, Scripts.

By using surveys, they can determine peoples behaviours, mentality, what they use to make purchases and what social media platforms they use.
Depending on what the brand or company sells or what genre it is associated with, depends on the audience/customers and how the brand approaches selling it to them.

Primary Research vs Secondary Research
Primary:
Experiments, investigations, or tests carried out to acquire data first-hand, rather than being gathered from published sources.
-http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/primary-research.html (The Business Dictionary)
Primary research is designed to meet your unique and specific needs. The research is conducted by you, or by a research firm you hire for the project. The research can include focus groups, surveys, interviews, and observations.
-https://www.thebalance.com/differences-primary-and-secondary-research-2296908 (The Balance)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Secondary:
By far the most widely used method for collecting data is through secondary data collection, commonly called secondary research. This process involves collecting data from either the originator or a distributor of primary research. In other words, accessing information already gathered.
Secondary research (desk research) involves gathering existing data that has already been produced. For example, researching the internet, newspapers and company reports.

Qualitative Research:
Qualitative research used more detailed questions to gather information. This method is a more personal and in-depth than quantitative as it involves finding information of peoples opinions, feelings and motivations of specific things or events. Groups discussions, interviews are some ways of finding out the more personal information; even though this is a more complex method is it also more expensive as it takes much more time that quantitative.
A prime example of qualitative research is a review of a film, tv show or a video game. A review tells us someones personal opinion and reasons for why they think or believe this. They rate the film based on their on response and reaction to that media text.
Quantitative Research:
Quantitive research uses numerical data that as been gathered to formulate facts and statistics that can be used to help find out patterns in the research. It is a much quicker and cheaper way of sourcing information and facts as methods such as surveys, online polls, interviews and emails. This is a quick way of finding information as by having a tick box or option of a certain number of answers, it is easier to process and sort through the data.
An example of this is box office figures. By using the data of the box office, from how many people watch what film, we are able to calculate how popular each film is and how much each one makes.

Quantitative Research
Quantitative Research is used to quantify the problem by way of generating numerical data or data that can be transformed into usable statistics. Quantitative Research uses measurable data to formulate facts and uncover patterns in research. Quantitative data collection methods include various forms of surveys – online surveys, paper surveys, mobile surveys and kiosk surveys, face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews, longitudinal studies, website interceptors, online polls, and systematic observations.
Quantitative methods emphasize objective measurements and the statistical, mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls, questionnaires, and surveys, or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data using computational techniques. Quantitative research focuses on gathering numerical data and generalizing it across groups of people or to explain a particular phenomenon.

Qualitative Research
Qualitative Research is primarily exploratory research. It is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research. Qualitative data collection methods vary some common methods include focus groups (group discussions), individual interviews, and participation/observations.
Qualitative research is designed to reveal a target audience’s range of behavior and the perceptions that drive it with reference to specific topics or issues. It uses in-depth studies of small groups of people to guide and support the construction of hypotheses. The results of qualitative research are descriptive rather than predictive.

This advert/campaign created by Dove shows what happens when women are asked to choose their perception about themselves; whether they believe they are beautiful or average.
This campaign links to the idea of the stereotype of a ‘beautiful’ woman. In the present media, there is a very strong and specific perception of what makes a woman ‘beautiful’. They portray one ‘perception’ of what they believe the word means, the ‘perception’ that is acceptable in society but has unrealistic goals and achievements. This ‘perception’ creates a formidable amount of pressure on women and makes them feel they need to look like this physically.
Dove challenges these perceptions/stereotypes that have been portrayed by the media by using women of all sizes, races, cultures and ages. They are a brand known for their use of diverse castings in their adverts and campaigns. They choose to do this to prove that the stereotypes that not correct and unrealistic are a global problem. The women in this campaign talk about their self perceptions and why they feel this why about themselves; furthermore why those that did not choose beautiful, felt that they couldn't choose it.
The purpose of this advert is to let women who watch this campaign know. that everyone's perception of the words ‘beautiful’ and ‘average’ are different. No one’s perception is wrong, self perception is something that is personal to each person and people can not be defined by a word or stereotypes that have been pressed by the media and society.
Dove’s representation of women is one of the most truthful and diverse of all campaigns shown on the TV. They represent women in a positive and truthful light. They are not portrayed as the stereotypical weaker gender or are compared to men in any way, they focus on the strengths and the ‘flaws’ that real women have, that are not shown in the perception of a ‘perfect’ woman.
Even though this advert is targeted at women, it is also applicable to men; however, there is no men featured in the advert. Dove created an advert that can appeal to both genders, but only women were used in the actual filming. In addition to this, there is an absence of diversity in age range. Most of the women that were shown were in (on average) the same age categories. The absence in age were elderly people and adolescent.
Dove cleverly created an advert that didn't use or show a physical product; a counter advert. This suggest to the audience that Dove are trying to convey the message that you do not need to use any kind of product to make yourself beautiful. They are stated that women are beautiful naturally and not because of certain products that are used, or are needed to be used.
Blog your thoughts on the content of this Dove advert.

This advert I picked because everyone can relate to the events that are happening. Everyone has felt the nerves and worries of the first days of high school, worrying about being the young, naive and the newest kids. The intimidation from the older students and the pressure of finding friends. The motto “Life. It’s something we grow into” is a statement we can all relate to, growing into the new uniform physically and also growing up into a young adult through the journey of high school. This advert portrays the transition to high school exceptionally well.
