April - Week 17. I’ve stuck with this layout for so long, it seems pretty effective, but sometimes I definitely want a change. Looking for any daily layout inspirations!

ok can we agree that the WORST feeling is when you’re just sitting around consciously procrastinating and you’re just overly aware that each second that passes is more time wasted and you like watch hours pass and you’re STILL procrastinating and you CANT STOP and your panicked brain is trapped inside a body that refuses to be productive and inside you’re screaming but outwardly you’re just eating chips

As a follow up from my last post I just wondered, are any of you guys at Edinburgh or are starting this year? I am SOOO excited to go I’m slightly pissing myself. It’d be really cool to meet people doing art subjects there!

Wow. It’s MARCH! 2018! I really have sucked at keeping this blog going (see: not done anything here). I said in my last post from months ago I’d keep a blog for my art foundation but that really ended up not happening at all I’m really so sorry! I wonder if I have any potential art foundation students still following me? If so, pop me a message if you have any questions! I’d love to share my experience on my UAL Camberwell foundation and help you guys.
So when I first started this studyblr I intended to study English Literature; needless to say that is not the path I have taken. I quickly realised I wanted to study photography once starting A2, but thought I should do an art foundation first as although I was ahead of my peers, mentally I didn’t feel I was on the right level yet. And now I’m near the end of my foundation!! How wild!!
I applied for 5 BA Photography courses in December, and as of yesterday I know what I’m doing (if all goes to plan, i.e. I get a merit in my foundation). I am so incredibly overjoyed to say that I’ve been offered a place at my dream uni, Edinburgh!!!!! My insurance is Nottingham Trent, and I rejected UAL, for reasons I will go into if anyone wants to know! I’m more than happy to talk about my current university. I’ve felt really...... motivated this year but also incredibly un-motivated simultaneously, and I only just realised that if I’d kept this blog up I would be in a much better position.
SO! For the next month I plan to post as much as I can, for my final major project. I hope to document the process of all the shit I have to do before I get to leave for uni. And finally! At Edinburgh you study a couple of electives alongside your major, so it makes even more sense for me to pick up this studyblr again as I shall be returning to my bookblr roots.
I’m glad to be back! I feel super disconnected from you guys, so please let me know if there’s anything you want me to do in order to feel like I know you lot again, tags or videos etc.!!

I’m now at UAL doing an art foundation. I still have to go to libraries and do sketchbook work so if you guys want I can continue posting on this account in a studyblr way, but more of a sketchbookblr/researchblr way. Please message me or reply to this post if you want me to!

a small guide on how i battle my essays! (click on an image to view it clearer)
(keep in mind: i’m an english major so a majority of my essays are literature-focused!)
these are just some of the methods i want to share that work for me when i write my innumerable amount of essays! i’m definitely a huge planner so it’s no secret that i spend a lot of time on an essay. if you’re a deadline fighter, these tips might not necessarily be helpful (especially the handwriting one). but i hope this gives you an insight on how i write my essays! 🌈

this is sooo useful for my english A level exam !!
It’s essay season! Gear up with the Recursive Paragraph model. lt is best used for persuasive essays and is especially useful in integrating research to support your claims. I will overview the six steps that will get you writing brilliant paragraphs for your next essay. Keep in mind, by the time you are using this paragraph model, you will probably have a thesis and an outline and your research ready.
Part One: The Controlling Idea
a.k.a. the “topic sentence”
Give your reader and idea of what this paragraph is going to be about.
This is usually one of the “points” that is supporting your thesis.
Part Two: Contextualize
This is where you introduce your quotation/citation that will support your argument.
How does it relate to your “controlling idea”?
How would you introduce it to a friend?
Assume your audience (your professor or teacher) is familiar with the material–no need to over-contextualize.
Part Three: Citation
This is where you integrate your citation, whether it be an in-text citation, block quote, or summary.
Make sure to use proper citation so as not to plagiarize!
Be sure to smoothly integrate the citation, using author names, for example: “Even Herbert Blau states that…” That is just one of thousands of possibilities.
Part Four: Analyze
This is where you break apart and close read your citation.
Thinking about how you would explain to a friend is helpful.
Try to break down the citation into smaller parts and analyze those.
Make sure your analysis is as close to the text as possible; in other words, don’t stray from the crux of your citation.
Part Five: Synthesis
This is by far the most important step!
This is the “so what?” of your point: why it matters.
How do these smaller parts relate to your controlling idea?
How does your interpretation/analysis develop your overall argument?
Part Six: Restate
You’re almost done with your brilliant paragraph!
All you need to do is restate your thesis in terms of your new synthesis.
In other words, recall back to your thesis statement.
The beginning of the next paragraph will call back to the end of this paragraph.
I hope this was helpful! Message me with any questions.
