Perth in the top 10 most liveable cities in the world
Perth in the top 10 most liveable cities in the world was originally seen on: Get Your Visa Migration Agency
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
    Hurray for Perth!
As per today 09/06/2021 list from The Economist Intelligence Unit’s survey, Perth has made it to the top 10 most liveable cities in the world!
This is, no doubt, a great achievement for our wonderful city that places itself in 6th position beating Melbourne in 9th and Brisbane in 10th.
Despite the ranking, Australia and New Zealand must be very proud this year because 6 of the best places to live on Earth are right here.
  | The List
Here a closer look to the list:
Auckland, New Zealand
Osaka, Japan
Adelaide, Australia
Wellington, New Zealand
Tokyo, Japan
Perth, Australia
Zurich, Switzerland
Geneva, Switzerland
Melbourne, Australia
Brisbane, Australia
This year we can definitely say that the West Coast as won over the East Coast: Melbourne held the title for 7 years until 2019, but now has dropped down to 9th, after enduring the nation’s longest COVID-19 lockdown last year,  Sydney has been ranked in 11th position and Brisbane has made its entry this year in 10th position......
Maybe it is not so bad living in the most isolated city in the world?:)
  | Covid- 19 role
Certainly Covid Pandemic has played a role in the decision of this list.
Starting from the making of the list itself, normally The Economist Intelligence Unit decides the ranking every year, but in 2020 no survey was conducted because was very difficult to have an impartial judgement due to the several lockdowns that have effected the economy all around the world.
“Many European and Canadian cities have fallen down the rankings, having battled a second COVID-19 wave by restricting cultural and sporting events, and closing schools and restaurants.” (EIU)
“Six of the top ten cities in the March 2021 survey are in New Zealand or Australia, where tight border controls have allowed residents to live relatively normal lives,” the EIU said as the report was released on Wednesday. (EIU)

Our New Office in Scarborough
Our New Office in Scarborough was originally seen on: https://www.getyourvisa.com.au/
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
    Welcome to our new office!
3rd of May 2021, this will be a date to remember for Get Your Visa.
On this day we have officially open the doors of our new, funky and bright office in Scarborough.
The decision was not easy, the current period of Covid-19 pandemic have made the choice whether to move or stay at the old office, in West Leederville, even harder. The insecurities and doubts of what the future could hold for us were just behind the corner, but we finally decided to take the risk and we jumped on a new adventure...and what a ride!
  | Little bit of story
Our Director Valentina always wanted a office near her home, she was missing Scarborough where she used to work and study in the early days and fate has played a magical part in it:
"I was missing Scarborough, the place where I spent the first 3 years of my Australian life. I used to study at the former Sunset School (now Lexis) and going down to Brighton beach for a walk.
I finally managed to persuade my business partner (and husband) to move closer to our house and the fate made me finding an office right next to Lexis, where I studied and so close where I used to live.
Things happen for one reason.
I am so looking forward to this new adventure"
(Valentina Segreto)
What a better place for us to start where it all begin for our Director and Migration Agent?
We are so happy and the office is very cool too!!
  | Where to find us
You can find us at the following address:
23/27 Scarborough Beach Road,  Scarborough, WA 6019
Telephone: (08) 9388 9193 - +61 404 871 094

Getting Married in Australia
The article Getting Married in Australia is courtesy of: Get Your Visa Migration Agency
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
How to get married in Australia?
2020 has been the year of the changes, the year of the adapting to the new reality that we are now living, with it proms and it cons.
During some of the consultation that we have the pleasure to conduct at Get Your Visa, we have seen many different realities from our clients: people have decided to leave Australia for good, to go back home to be close to their families, on the other hand people have also decided to stay in Australia longer than what the original plan was.
While some couples have gone through difficult times due to Covid circumstances, others have strengthen their relationship. Many were the plans to travel back home to get married last year or this year but things had to change.
Hence many couple have decided to take the next step in their relationship, getting married in Australia instead of waiting for an indefinite period of time when travelling will be allowed again.
Here's our topic for today: what you need to know to get married in Australia
  | Before getting married
Getting married in Australia bureaucratically speaking it is pretty simple.
First thing to know is that you don't need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent resident of Australia to get married down under but let's see, instead, what it is required to do before and after getting married.
First things to do are:
Lodging a Notice of Intended Marriage form with an Authorised Marriage Celebrant at least one month before the wedding day
Providing to the Authorised Marriage Celebrant with the following documents:
Evidence of date and place of birth (Passport or Birth Certificate)
Identity (Passport or diver's licence)
If married before, proof that a previous marriage has ended (divorce certificate or death certificate)
You will also required to provide two witnesses over the age of 18 years, all the foreign language documents must be officially translated to English
  | After getting married
Once the Marriage has taken place, the Authorised Marriage Celebrant will give you a copy of the Certificate of Marriage on the day (Ceremonial certificate of your marriage). This has to be signed by the newly-weds, the witnesses and the celebrant.
After the marriage, the Authorised Marriage Celebrant has 14 days to submit the required marriage documents to the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state or territory you got married in to enable registration of the marriage.
Once the marriage has been registered, couples can apply to the Registry for their legal marriage certificate.

DAMA and updates
DAMA and updates is available on: GetYourVisa
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
     What is the DAMA program?
DAMA: Designated Area Migration Agreement is a type of Labour Agreement which enable approved employers to sponsor overseas workers for positions they are unable to fill with Australian citizen or Permanent Resident workers, in response to their current and emerging labour market shortage.
Currently there are seven DAMA list in place:
The Orana Region DAMA (NSW)
The Northern Territory
The Far North Queensland DAMA
The Adelaide City Technology and Innovation Advancement DAMA (Metro)
The South Australia Regional Workforce DAMA (Regional)
The Victoria's Great South Coast DAMA
The Goldfield DAMA (WA)
  | What are the differences between a State Skilled List and a DAMA List?
The answer to this is very reassuring: within the occupation of the DAMA List there are also so called “low” skilled occupations (waiter – supervisor – clerk accountant etc) that are not present in the State Skilled list and this will translate into the possibility for the applicant to be sponsored and eventually be able to apply for the Permanent Residency even with an occupation that it is not recognised from the Government of Australia as Highly skilled.
  | How does it work?
The Visas subclasses available for this agreement are:
Temporary Skill Shortage visa ( sub 482)
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (sub 494)
Employer Nomination Scheme (Sub 186)
Individual Workers cannot apply independently, this means that the applicant needs to be sponsored by an employer that have gained approval from the Designated Area Representative (DAR) and whom business it is located in the designated region.
The other positive element that distinguishes the DAMA lists is that some concession may also apply depending on the occupation such as:
English concession
Salary
Age
Depending on the list (not all the DAMA lists for each states are the same), the applicant could be waived the condition of the minimum level of English, the minimum salary and also the maximum age for the Permanent Residency (generally 45 years old)
Another key element of DAMA is that it is a 5 years agreement, this means that the Government will review the conditions after this period of time.
  | Recent updates
Northern Territory DAMA:
The following occupations were added to the list:
Bar attendant (supervisor)
Waiter (supervisor)
Cook (specialist ethnic cuisine)
For Overseas workers to be eligible for the positions not listed in the SHORT TERM or MEDIUM-LONG TERM list or REGIONAL OCCUPATION LIST must meet certain requirements defined by the Department.
Goldfields DAMA (WA):
The following occupations were added to the list:
Asphalt Technician
Process Technician
Rope access Technician
Sound and Light Technician
Keep in mind that the areas included in the DAMA WA are not limited only to the City of Kalgoorlie but extended also to Esperance, Leonora, Menzies and Ravensthorpe.
To know more about DAMA agreement and if this could be your Permanent Residency strategy get in touch with Get Your Visa on (08) 6117 4152 or through our website and we will assess your circumstances, qualifications and experience to design the best option for you and your future!

Australia East Coast vs Australia West Coast
The following blog post Australia East Coast vs Australia West Coast was first seen on: Get Your Visa
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
  WHICH AUSTRALIAN COAST IS BETTER?
Looking with eyes full of hopes towards the re-opening of the borders, many people are already planning their moving to Australia for next year.
Based on what factor you choose one Australian City over the other? What are the differences between the two coasts?
With this article we would like to give you some insights of the Australian life, the differences that exists between East coast and West coast so that we can help you to reach a decision.
Like the United States, Australia has two coasts offering two very different experiences. Generally speaking you find more social life and European influences on the East Coast (Sydney - Melbourne), while the West Coast (Perth) is much more spread out and the landscape is much more wild, rural and untouched suited for those who are looking for tranquillity, adventure into the wild and a more family oriented environment.
  | Let's have a look at the map first
Perth is located on the opposite side of Sydney and Melbourne and it is well known to be the most isolated city in the world with 4 or 5 hours flight to reach the two biggest cities over East.
Moreover Western Australia does not observe daily light savings time: this means that Perth is two or three hours behind Melbourne or Sydney time- but it is closer to Europe :)
As you could already tell Australia is huge, you can actually fit the whole Europe in it, so if you are thinking of Australia has one Country that has the same climate, seasons, time and panorama you better keeping read this.
Western Australia overlooks the Indian Ocean (same ocean as the Maldives islands), it is very famous for the amazing beaches with their unique characteristics: from the green of the forest of Margaret River to the dry and rough red rocks of Broome, the whitest sand and the particular saffron limestones.
Western Australia is also well known to be one of the most sunniest states, so it will be perfect if you are a beach lover!
On the other hand, East coast weather vary a lot: from the tropical climate of Queensland to the crazy so called " four seasons in a day" climate of Victoria.
Yes you have read right, four seasons in a day. Melbourne is famous for its rough and (very) quick temperature and weather condition changes. You can wake up in the morning to nice and quite 23 degrees in a spring day and after two hours it starts raining waterfalls with thunders and 5 degrees to change back again after some time to 40 degrees in the shadow. How bizarre!
Melbourne is definitely not boring at all!
  | Lifestyle differences
Sydney and Melbourne with their multicultural approach and European influence, offer many ideas for your weekly activities.
They are vibrant cities, never sleeping, fun and energetic. Shows are rolling every day and night – people enjoy night life – good food – new experiences for all ages and kind.
However, if you are looking to settle down and enjoy a more family oriented life style, Perth is the best choice.
There is plenty to do in Western Australia, but the type of the experience offered on the West Coast is more focus on family time, excursion into the desert, camping, relaxing at the sunset (Western Australia has THE BEST sunsets), farmers market shopping and supporting local economy.
Are you single looking for funny parties and mates? Get your backpack ready to flight to the East Coast.
  | Cost of living
If you are still not convinced on your choice, maybe the cost of the life will help.
Lets get it straight: Sydney is probably the most expensive city of Australia, from rents to dining out. While living in the city could cost you $$$$ it is also true that with all the connections offered by the public transport, you can easily find an apartment outside the city and save money. (Think of sharing houses as well!!)
On the West coast rents are not as that crazy,  but you would like to consider to buy a car to move faster and within a wider range because living in the city can be expensive.
  | Finding a job
Coming form abroad we can imagine that you could run out of savings pretty quick, so it is better to find a job (depending on your visa). Most of the people come here and find a job in Hospitality. East coast has lot more opportunities considering the much bigger offer of the market, but it is also true that Perth is expanding fast, creating new job opportunities especially in the mining field. Over all we recommend to get your resume in a nice shape and engage in as many different interviews and trials as you can find to decide the best option for you.
To conclude, we hope to have given you some good suggestions from your incoming trip. We are all hoping that international travels will resume soon and be able to make some memories travelling the world again.
To know more about your future strategy to move to Australia get in touch with Get Your Visa on (08) 6117 4152 or through our website and we will assess your circumstances, qualifications and experience to design the best option for you and your future!

Things to do when arriving to Australia
The blog post Things to do when arriving to Australia was first published to: GET YOUR VISA
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
THINGS TO DO WHEN ARRIVING TO AUSTRALIA
The prospect for Australia of re-opening the international borders is still far away, but we can certainly start to dream about when this will be finally possible.
In this regards we would like to highlight some aspect of what you need to do first few days after you will be finally landed down under!
Here’s our list of:
First things you need to do once arrived to Australia
  | 1. Sim Card
Get yourself an Australian sim card: this you will be able to do directly at the airport.
Optus – Telstra – Belong – Vodafone – Amaysim, these are the most famous sim card, depending on the State one will have more reception over the other.
Normally the budget is $30 per month for min 5 Gigs depending on the plan you choose.
  | 2. Public Transport pass
All the Australian cities have their own different system for passes for public transport:
Melbourne has Myki Card
Sydney has Opal
Perth has Smart rider
Brisbane has the Go Card
Adelaide has the Metrocard
Hobart has the Greencard
Canberra has the Myway card
Darwin has the Get on Get Connected
It will save you money and time if you buy one of these and recharge it once in a month.
  | 3. Apply for a TFN
Tax file number is the number that will identify you as a worker – Australian workers pay tax to the Government on their income and to receive an income you need a Tax file number . The money collected from Taxes is used to fund Government programs and services like roads, schools and hospitals. Tax File Number is unique and will be with you forever.
Simply visit the ATO (Australian Taxation office ) website or phone ATO or visit any ATO office to apply for your Tax File Number.
You will only need your visa grant letter and your passport, it won’t take more than 20 minutes. Tax File Number letter will be posted to your mailing address.
  | 4. Open a bank account
Opening an Australian bank account is very important if you would like to live and work in Australia.
Make sure you provide the bank with your Tax File Number so that you will avoid higher rates of taxation.
  | 5. Enroll with Medicare
Some of overseas Countries hold a reciprocal health agreement with Australia. Medicare is Australia’s national health care system.
If you are eligible for Medicare you have immediate access to health care services and programs.
Click on the link to know more:
www.humanservices.gov.au/medicare
Only things you need to have to fill out the Medicare application form are your passport and your visa. Your Medicare will be posted within 3 weeks.
  | 6. RSA Certificate
It is no secret that 90% of people that move to Australia regardless what they future plans are, will be more like to find easily the first in Hospitality.
To be able to be employed you must hold a RSA certificate: Responsible service of Alcohol.
The test could be taken online or at a certified center for RSA test.
  | 7. Driving License
Holding an Australian Driving License will spare you to bring your passport along with you every time you live your home.
It is considered an effective ID plus it will count as ID documents towards the future application you may be doing during your staying in Australia (Lease – police check - etc)
Applying is very simple, just visit the Department of Transport office and they will how you all the steps. The Driving license comes with a fee.
We can’t wait to have you all back here when the borders will be back to normal!

Covid and Immigration
Covid and Immigration was first published to: Get Your Visa Migration Agency
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
MIGRATION - EMPLOYMENT - ECONOMY after Covid-19
72000 people less compared to previous years
This is the amount of people Australia Immigration will be missing next year on Immigration records.
Covid-19 has hardly impacted the economy all over the world. We all know how important is the Immigration for Australia's economy, it is vital  but unfortunately with the border closures on the 20 March 2020 Australia is registering the first negative year after the Second World War.
The forecast is that Australia Immigration won't be back to normality before at least 4 years.
Let's have a look of the impact of the Border closure:
  | International Students
Australian University declares that international Students make up 30-40% of the total revenue.
The sector will lose around $16 billion by 2023 with over 300.000 fewer international students by July 2021 if travel restrictions remain in place.
Enrollment from China has been the most affected.
  | Farm work
Working holiday Makers are vital to support the labor market in certain industries, horticulture and agriculture for example.
The reality now with lower numbers of  people coming to Australia with Working Holiday Visa is that farmers are really desperate to attract workers.
There have been several attempts to get Australian Citizens to work in these specific fields but being particularly hard work, Australians have never found it appealing for many reasons.
  | Taxes
Fewer immigrants means also, less people paying taxes - most of the people that migrate to Australia are here to work and contribute to the local economy. If this stops or the number becomes very low this will impact negatively for the next 4 years, the experts say.
The economic challenges we are facing are a strong incentive for the Government to find creative solutions to bring immigrants back to Australia as quickly as possible even before a potential vaccine is found.
Australian Government is working hard alongside the Department of Home Affair (DOHA) to make sure Australia can be back to normal numbers considering that it will be facing a loss of 213.7 billions of dollars, the biggest in Australia history.
The federal budget last October has clarify the strategy to attract people following the principle of the 3 Ps:
- Population
- Participation
- Productivity
The program adopted is called Global talent, that focuses on attracting the most brilliant and talented Migrants with a triplication of applications available.
There will be also an increase in family visa application and priority will be given also to investment visa and regional visa.
To know more about how Covid-19 has affected the Migration processes get in touch with Get Your Visa on (08) 6117 4152 and we will assess your circumstances, qualifications and experience to design the best option for you and your future!

Best Pathway to Australian Permanent Residency
The post Best Pathway to Australian Permanent Residency is courtesy of: Get Your Visa Migration Agency
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Here we are, you decided to move to Australia for good, but you don’t know how to make it possible?
First thing to do is to assess your qualification and verify if that is linked to the skilled occupation list that will allow you to be eligible for different sort of Skilled Visa that will lead you, step by step, to the PR in Australia.
Don’t have a qualification but still want to settle down in Australia with a fruitful career?
Best thing to do is starting a course of study in Australia that is related to the high demand occupation list that The State Government draws each year for each state.  International students are coming to Australia with high hopes and expectations, finding it a very attractive country to live, study and work and they like it so much that they decide to stay for good. For this reason, choosing a course it is a very important step.
What often happens Is that a very costly mistake occurs due to an improper advice on which is the best path to follow to apply for a PR and sometime people’s occupation is not appropriate to be eligible for that.
Obviously, we don’t want that for you, there are number of pathways available to overseas students. We would like to have a look to these example of training packages that will teach you for a position on the MLTSSL | Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List | (at today’s update):
Commercial Cookery
Childcare
Constructions/tradies
To know more about these changes get in touch with Get Your Visa on (08) 6117 4152 and we will assess your circumstances, qualifications and experience to check to see if you are still on the right path or if you can access a new pathway and give you peace of mind.
