I think I can understand where you’re coming from, but (and maybe I’m just misunderstanding) I don’t think people seeing Ford as an SA victim and then creating or liking content with non-con/elements of non-con content or jokes is all that hypocritical. If they headcannon that he was an SA victim, it would make sense since normally people create or like content or jokes based on their interpretations. Now im not sure if that is how you meant it, so if what you actually meant was to say that people that harassed and mistreated those who HC him as an SA victim are hypocritical because they then turn around and like or make noncon-esqu content or jokes, then yeah that’s hypocritical and annoying. At least that’s what I think.

Billford is a pros proship and not enough people consider it as such. It's abusive, it's xenophilia, it's grooming (somehow from both perspectives), etc etc. No matter how many AUs with human or redeemed Bill you make, at it's core Billford is a proship. I'm not saying people shouldn't ship it because that's none of my business, I'm just saying that people should just accept the truth about the ship.

I totally get where you’re coming from, Anon. But I do need to correct you on how you’re using the term ‘Proship’, because I do feel you’re using it incorrectly. Proship doesn’t stand for ‘problematic ship’. Proship simply means someone who believes in ‘ship and let ship’ fandom etiquette (aka not harassing people over fictional ships). This is why someone can be a proshipper without even shipping or liking anything ‘problematic’, as long as you adhere to fandom etiquette that’s what it’s about. With that in mind, ALL ships fall under the idea of ‘Proship’. What you are describing and what would be a more appropriate label for Billford, would be Comship, which means a ‘complex ship’ due to the relationship having toxic or controversial dynamics.

I’m only correcting this because I find it very important to use words correctly and because ignorant people will purposely misdefine and misrepresent terms for their own narratives, and I don’t tolerate misinformation (not saying you’re spreading misinformation, Anon. This is just me going on a bit of a tangent towards people that have more malicious intent). But I digress.

Over all I do agree with you. People act like this ship is better and more ‘morally superior’ to other ships some consider controversial when really, it’s not any different. Just a different font.

I hate the "Bill Cipher has a vagina" tag on AO3. I understand why people would use it, it's meant to be a clinical description, but it makes me really uncomfortable as a trans man for stories about his species/body dysmorphia, that tend to be allegories for if not outright also include gender dysphoria, to then include such a "this MASCULINE ALIGNED PERSON has a VAGINA! BTW! LET ME BROADCAST THAT! HEY EVERYONE, THIS GUY HAS A PUSSY!" type tag. Especially if it doesn't even come up in the story itself. It's weird and feels really objectifying.

Again, I'm sure nobody MEANS it that way, but that's ALWAYS how it feels to me. I just exclude it from my searches now, but does anyone else feel the same way?

Mod cipher here, as a trans masc/man person who draws bill with a vagina and what not. Personally, It doesn’t make me uncomfortable but it’s because I personally find empowerment in that. It’s okay to say that a man has a pussy. We shouldn’t be afraid of it. You are more than okay to be uncomfortable with it but not every trans masc experience is the same. Some people identify with their vagina and some don’t. I’m sure there are people that feel the same but at the same time, is it because it gives your dysphoria? Especially because you bring up body dysmorphia. The way people experience masculinity is different even amongst cis people. Who’s to say he can’t experience euphoria with a pussy?

Some people read bill with a pussy for comfort regardless if dysphoria is mentioned or not. Some people want to just read a story like that. Even if the story has nothing to do with it, reading with the mentality with specific anatomy and a specific interpretation can make people feel comfort and seen. Some people headcanon that bill has a pussy, regardless if the fic mentions it or not. It’s the idea he has one at all and that’s how he’s being interpreted. It would match how other people’s personal interpretations. If you don’t like it, just block the tags. It gives people who do enjoy that a place without having to force it.

At the end of the day it’s harmless fiction and really not that deep. Someone’s fan ship doesn’t affect anyone, doesn’t change or affect the canon, and in the grand scope of things, doesn’t matter. Putting such importance on what someone is shipping is childish and usually the product of misguided performativism. You’re not helping anyone by harassing someone that ships something you think is stinky. You’re making it worse for victims, you’re just a bully, and you likely desperately need actual therapy. If you think someone’s morals is reflected by what piece of fiction they like, I fear you lack a severe amount of critical thinking. Someone consuming dark or taboo fiction is not reflective of someone who will be influenced to do real world harm. Video games don’t cause violence. You can’t influence someone into having desires to hurt someone, those desires are already there and to blame the fiction that you believe influenced them into doing it is taking away the blame from the actual abuser. A very conservative right wing style narrative. People should research the satanic panic. Abusers and actually dangerous people are often those who consume the most ‘pure’ media in order to overcompensate for their real nature and portray themselves to be ‘safe’ and ‘morally good’. That Kyle Carrozza situation is a prime example of what often happens in reality. While I love self shippers, being one myself, I think it's really funny when people self ship with the grunkles, because they are some of the most undateable fictional men I've seen.

Stan is a chronic liar and thief who dgaf about anyone outside his immediate family (and found family) and is more likely to scam you then sweep you off your feet.

And Ford... he has so many problems Im struggling to think of which one to start with. He's an asshole. He's a mess. He's a massive monster fucker, to the point idk if he would even be attracted to a human.

Bill cipher is the most queer coded fucking character in existence. Something I associate with him guiltily, is that he’d be into very weird shit, and very weird kinks or fetishes. And genuinely do it for the sole purpose of weirding out the other person. When I think of his sexuality.
