I can understand how "modern person thrown into the past gets by pretending to be a healer/doctor" is as surprisingly common of a trope as it is. I mean I'm fluent enough at bullshitting to be pretty sure I could pull it off to impersonate a doctor in any time pre-1800s. If I have no idea what something is or how to treat it, I could just get the opinion of the other whatever-passes-as-medical-professionals around, but if their suggestions sound like bullshit I'm not doing it. And I'll beat the shit out of anyone suggesting bloodletting or mercury. With my healing stick. I've tied little bells on it, that jingle comically with every smack.

The awesome curative powers of my healing stick come from two separate sources: Placebo, and me using it to beat anyone trying to give my patients mercury.

Guys, do you ever just... wake up one day and find that a thing you enjoyed, a thing that you loved, is suddenly a dead fish? And no matter how much you poke at it, wait patiently by it, and just generally hope for it to come back, it stays painfully dead in the water?

It's possible I should have seen warning signs coming when I stopped caring about character events after 416 Clukay (that is still the goofiest anime name I've ever seen, and anime used to be full of goofy names), and somehow kept Jiangyu's event stuck in limbo for two months because I barely interacted with the game beyond completing dailies. But at some point last year, probably a few weeks after my last post, I just... stopped caring about Neural Cloud altogether. Like a sudden onset of gacha burnout, but without the violent rage and disappointment that usually causes it. Not even the anniversary event could bring it back.

It's kinda depressing because this has spread beyond PNC to Girl's Frontline as well, which I've also been playing devotedly since day 1. (It doesn't help that Fixed Point was the most depressing event to date. I know the joke is that it's really called Depression Frontline and that our primary adjutant is just ptsd, but you can only keep writing sad sack stories for so long before it stops being worth it). Ironically I've picked Arknights back up, which I'd previously dropped. So maybe there's still hope.

Anyways, that's unfortunately why I've gone awol. Neural Cloud no longer sparks joy and the memories of all the fun I've had aren't enough to keep me around. And let's not get started on trying to run a fandom-news side blog on a volunteer basis without love and passion.

With all that said, take care of yourselves, folks. Depression and burn out are real.
