ASEAN Dual City Joint Workshop Yangon 2018

Yangon has a lot of possibilities. There are lots of unique history and wealth. Yangon is going to develop from now. We need to develop by utilising Yangon 's unique history. Otherwise, the characteristic of Yangon is lost and there is a possibility that it will become a generic city. There are many such cities. However, there are many possibilities in our site. Because there are historical buildings spread out in front of us and there is also an interesting village across the river. 

Now Yangon can not make use of it. It's as if there is nothing there. Mainly, the possibility of the site relates to the history of Yangon. This is a very strong advantage. In order to make use of it in the future. Due to the past of Myanmar that is socialism, government didn’t allow to have public free space according to the afraid of protesting against them so we think it would be better to create a plaza that symbolises the development idea from the history. Now it may not directly benefit. But the land has the potential to attract people. Eventually, the waterfront attracting people is formed around the plaza as its centre. However, from the present situation, it is too naive that designing Democracy Plaza is the main purpose. It is required to bring benefits with immediate effect. So, install a water tank. This can immediately influence the weakness of infrastructure which is the issue of Yangon. When Yangon’s infrastructure developed water tank was unnecessary, it can be used as parking lot.

After decades, when commercial, cultural and entertainment functions are added to the waterfront which initiated by Democracy Plaza, infrastructure problems related to floods and others probably are solved, and there will be many people gathered there. At that time, having a parking lot underground would be benefit. And this waterfront area including our site will support the development of Yangon as a district which is a symbol of the history of Yangon.

DEFORMATION | This workshop served as an introduction to digital modeling in Rhinoceros.Student will address how to draw curves and 3d model topography.

PRECISE MODELING - DELTAHEDRON | Rhinoceros is a 3D software used in architecture as a tool for design and representation. Rhinoceros provides a high level of precision that allows the user to define projects from its details to a larger scale. In this workshop we will introduce a series oF advanced commands in rhino that will let you create and modify 2d drawings out of a 3D model. This workshop session is linked to the previous one

RETROSPECT : CITY | From plan of the building the way space define exterior and interior by element with boundary are complex but with the simple concept of how it’s be arranged. As a conceptual from the movie that city is retro-future so their are no vegetation in the public space in the city and the gap between the building is exactly the size of the building.
