Motorola Edge Price, Release Date, Availability - For the earlier several years, Motorola has really made a name for itself with this budget and mid-range phones. While the other major brands battled it out in the more expensive side of the spectrum, the moto did its own thing. Now that's changing with the Motorola Edge duo. The Plus version of the phone is focused on the more premium and expensive side of the market. Well, the vanilla Motorola Edge is focused on being a flagship killer. So has it succeeded, and this is our review of the Motorola edge.

Motorola Edge Design

The Motorola Edge is a looker with a waterfall display that curves halfway around the side until it meets the aluminum frame. Now for many people, curve screens have fallen out of favor due to touch input mistakes and phones in the past. So whether we like it or not depends on personal preference. That said, we didn't find it to be an issue on this particular phone. Also, it's a company hold though a bit thick, and it's not too heavy. The top and bottom bezel are quite small; the screen is a nice one at first glance. And there's an optical fingerprint meter on the front. It's fast and reliable, and that's not something that every phone boasts, even flagship ones. The display is shielded with Gorilla Glass 5, and the phone is splash resistant. The back is made of high-quality plastic, and our unit has gorgeous dark blue coloring. In fact, at first, it's a bit difficult to tell that it is plastic.

Motorola Edge Design The cameras are almost flush with the back, so there's no wobble when it's on a desk. It also has a neat hat trick. It can be left standing up without anything to support it. The six-point seven inch OLED screen has an extended full HD resolution. It has a good but not amazing pixel density of 385 PPI. It supports HDR 10 but not HDR 10 plus like the moto edge Plus. This is strange because the two phones have the same display. Fortunately, the Motorola Edge retains the 90 Hertz refresh rate, which should make everything feel much faster than a regular 60 Hertz panel. It's nice to see this great feature picking up this year because it definitely adds to the overall experience. Brightness went up to 416 nits in manual mode and 595 minutes in Auto. However, the auto-brightness is active only when you're using the screen with a higher refresh rate turned on. Color reproduction was very good, but whites and grays are a little bluish, nothing too extreme, though. The edge has a standard stereo speaker setup with a thin earpiece of top and a bottom-firing speaker. Surprisingly next to the speaker, you'll also find a 3.5-millimeter jack. You also have the option of an FM radio if you're using wired headphones. The stereo speakers were tuned by a company called wave to deliver high loudness and output quality. In our tests, however, they had below-average loudness. And while the quality was quite good, I sounded a bit muffled and not as crisp as the edge plus.

Motorola Edge Battery

The phone has a large 4500 million power battery. It got an excellent endurance rating of 102 hours, with the 90 Hertz refresh rate turned on. With it turned off, you got an hour or two more, but with the battery life being still good, we recommend simply enjoying the phone with a higher refresh rate. The fast charging was less impressive, and you got from zero to 37% in half an hour, not sluggish but definitely not the fastest we've seen.

Motorola Edge Specs

Speaking of fast the edge sports a snapdragon 765 chipset. It's a very recent mid-range Qualcomm chipset complete with 5G connectivity, and it came out on top of every other mid-range chipset. The only caveat is that slightly more expensive phones like the one plus 8 or the Realme X50 Pro have the flagship snapdragon 865. the phone also offers 4 to 6 gigs of ram and ufs 2.1 storage instead of the ufs 3.0 that you find on the edge plus. It does have an expandable microSD card slot, though. The Motorola Edge is running Android 10 and motors version of it is a very stock Android experience with some extra features bundled into the Moto app. The Moto actions are clever any twist to launch the camera and do a karate chop to start the flashlight. Which should be close to you if you've always used a Motorola device before. There are also edge lights that take advantage of the water full-screen and light up the sides of the display for calls and notifications. A bit like an LED light but much flash here, there's an edge touch which is new and includes useful shortcuts. It's a floating action bar on the side that you can move to either the left or right sides of the phone. Moto gametime is not new, but it packs some new features. In the past, it allows you to filter out notifications, turn on audio enhancements, And disable adaptive brightness, among other things. For the Moto edge series, it now allows you to add virtual triggers on the edge of the phone for in-game use. The navigation uses a bar on the bottom, and it's quite easy to get used to. Swipe in from the sides to go back swipe left to right on the bar at the bottom to switch between apps and swipe diagonally to launch the Google assistant. The annoying part is that you can't hide the bar, and it only disappears if you're gaming or watching a movie.

Motorola Edge Camera

The Motorola Edge has a quad-camera setup. There's a 64-megapixel quad bear main snapper, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide cam, and 8-megapixel telephoto with 2 times magnification and a time-of-flight camera. In daylight with the main camera, the photos were very good. They had excellent contrast and dynamic range and no visible noise. The etail was alright though not spectacular, and colors were true to life though a bit on the cool side. The auto HDR is often triggered during the day, and it definitely boosts the dynamic range while reducing noise.

Motorola Edge Camera You can take photos in the full 64-megapixel resolution. But they're poor in detail, and they look upscaled in comparison to a regular photo. With the ultra-wide colors were a bit on the warmer side and as a whole week quite like them. They have enough superb detail contrast and dynamic range and low noise. You can also use the ultra-wide for super macro shots, and it performed pretty well here. The 8-megapixel telephoto camera upscale's all of its images to 16 megapixels. In low-light regular photos from the main camera were uninspiring. They don't have much detail, and the dynamic range is low. Colors were washed out, and photos were noisy. If you switch to the night vision mode, photos are much brighter and far less noisy. Blown highlights are mostly restored, colors are better, and we have more details in the shadows. In short, using the night vision mode is well recommended. If you want to zoom photos at night, you should know that they're digitally zoomed and coming from the main camera. So as far as colors and dynamic range goes, it's the same situation.

Motorola Edge Price

Motorola really did a great job with this phone. And it has an excellent display, good battery life, and nice camera setup to go along with its good looks. Now the chipset is a mid-range. Which puts it at a disadvantage in comparison to phones like the Realme X50 and the one plus 8. But it performs well enough for most people. And as far as this competition is concerned, well the Realme X50 is not available in all markets. And one plus 8 is about a hundred euros more expensive. Google Pixel 5 Price Has Been Revealed - So Google Pixel 5 was in the news for a couple of reasons. First, due to reports that it will ditch the premium Snapdragon 865 soc in favor of a Snapdragon 765, which is an upper midrange processor. Google is doing this to keep the costs down since the Snapdragon 865 is forcing Android smartphone makers to push the prices this year. Also, we learned that Google is ditching the soli radar chip on Pixel 5. because I guess it was holding Google back from doing many things such as a modern edge to edge design. And also prevented them from selling the handset in many of the big key markets. And now the Pixel 5 is in the news again and not for a very good reason.

Google Pixel 5 Price You see, usually, Google launches its flagship pixel lineup in October every year, but that may not be the case this year. Jon Prosser, a good friend and also a reputed leaker, tweeted that Pixel 5 may actually be delayed. He didn't mention by how much, but he also tweeted that another Pixel phone the Pixel 4A has also been delayed. And now it will be announced on 13th July and will go on sale from August. For comparison, Google launched the Pixel 3A in May last year. The cause for the delay is not because of the supply chain issues. But rather due to the market conditions as Jon explains. This makes sense as the majority of western countries are still locked down. Even though the countries have been easing the lockdown a bit but again. Too many people their finances are still uncertain. And they are less likely to spend money on mobile devices. Which has been proven by the sluggish sales of the Galaxy S20 series. And every other new phone that has been launched this year. But Google also needs to understand that there are people who want a new device right now. And certainly, some people have been waiting for Pixel 4A. Especially after Pixel 3A became a very good value for money devices last year. And the delay could make them look for another device from another company. In my opinion, delaying Pixel 5 makes sense a bit. But not the Pixel 4A since it's rumored to cost just $299 for the 64GB variant. If people wanted an upgrade. I don't think they would think much about spending this amount of money on the phone. Even during this pandemic that's going on right now. Anyway, we have more evidence from Google itself about the prices of the Pixel 4A and Pixel 5. The details come from a recent survey that Google conducted. The survey suggests that the Pixel 4A could cost $349. Which is in line with the leaked price for the 128GB variant. And then later launching premium pixel, aka the Pixel 5 could cost $699. At 699 the Pixel 5 will undercut most maximum 2020 Android flagship with a few hundred dollars. While that Snapdragon 765 chipset may abort a few customers. Pixel 5 could yet be ready to bring a lot of them by a $699 cost tag. And best-in-class camera production. Read the full article

Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite - Latest Information From Credible Sources - Samsung’s foldable phones were quite expensive for users with their initial prices. The Galaxy Fold was launched for $1980, and it was too much for mainstream users to consider this phone. That just wasn’t a realistic option for a vast bulk of smartphone buyers. When Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip, a vertical folding phone for $1400. But still, the price was too high for what the device offered.

For a foldable phone to breakthrough, it will demand both an innovative idea and a price tag that somebody will be ready to stomach. Samsung is listening. He says to keep the costs down, Samsung is using a mix of different hardware components from 2018, 2019, and 2020. Also, they are not using the Ultrathin glass on this phone. Which makes sense considering the Ultra-thin Glass is really expensive. Ross Young explains that the Samsung display actually didn't make any money on the display panels of the Galaxy Z Flip. So probably Samsung could save at least a couple of hundred dollars by not using the Ultrathin glass. And that's what they did on the Galaxy Fold Lite. Moving on, Max says the Fold Lite will have on outer display. But it won't be as big as the Galaxy Fold. Instead, it's more like the Galaxy Z Flip's outer display, which will again lower the costs. To be clear, the inner display will be similar to the original Galaxy Fold. The frame is made out of aluminum, and the back is made out of gorilla glass. The base storage is going to be 256GB. There won't be 5G, and the processor is going to be the Snapdragon 865. Max is still unsure about the processor but fairly confident it's going to the latest offering from Qualcomm. Color options could include Mirror Black and Mirror Purple. I would suggest you take this information with a little bit of skepticism for now. We heard a similar rumor a few months ago for the Galaxy Z Flip as well that Samsung could launch it for just $800. But clearly, that didn't happen. And even Max says that it's a rumor and not a leak, so treat this information for what it is. Anyway, Foldable phones haven’t taken off the way Samsung expects them to. But there's also has yet to be a foldable phone that the average consumer would consider using in place of their daily driver. The main dilemma with popular foldable phones is their cost. But the Galaxy Fold Lite may just be the affordable foldable that users have been waiting for. A foldable at this value point will be charming for a lot of users who need to attempt out the completely different of a flexible phone. But we haven't heard much since then. Until last week when a GPU benchmark leak of this new AMD GPU was leaked where the graphics benchmarks only thoroughly beat the strong Adreno 650 GPU found in Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC by displaying numbers that are almost 3 times more than Qualcomm's latest offering. The Exynos 1000 which is a 5nm processor powering the next year's Samsung flagship will have this new AMD graphics. But it looks like Samsung and AMD aren't focused on just smartphones. But they want to conquer the gaming console market as well. Yes, Nintendo is tipped to be among the first third-party partners to adopt this SoC from Samsung and AMD. Which should supply it a critical boost, not just treating performance related to the Switch current console family. But more a hugely superior graphics subsystem.

AMD RDNA Architecture The current Nintendo Switch is powered by a refreshed version of the NVIDIA Tegra X1 SoC. Hardware that first debuted back in 2015 and ever since it hasn't received any improvement in the chip department. However, Nintendo is seriously considering leaving NVIDIA behind in favor of Samsung and AMD for better performance. By the way, Sony has already selected AMD's RDNA architecture for the next PlayStation. So it kinda gives me chills thinking that the 2021 Samsung flagships will have the same graphics architecture used by the most prominent players in the gaming console market. Regardless, it’s about time Samsung ditched the Mali GPU, which was one of the biggest reasons for the inferior performance from the Exynos chips. The Samsung AMD team should bring some real competition to Apple and Qualcomm next year. And the Galaxy S21 could be the first phone in a long while to do just that. Of course, Qualcomm is not going to sit still. Their next chipset will bring improvements as well. The specifications of which have been leaked as well.

RDNA Graphics But apart from the names of the chip components. We don't have any numbers to gauge the performance gains from Qualcomm's flagship chipset next year. I guess time will tell who's going to reign supreme when the battle for the supremacy is going to take place next year with the Galaxy S21. Here's the best selling Samsung phone in Q1 of 2020. So we have sales numbers for smartphones sold in quarter one of this year. And unsurprisingly, the iPhone 11 tops the chart with sell-in shipments estimated at 18 million units. Galaxy Note 20 will have an LTPO display

Galaxy Note 20 will have an LTPO display - Ross Young, CEO and founder of Display Supply Chain Consultants, is back again with some excellent Galaxy Note 20 news. Where he's detailing the display specs of both the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Plus. And explaining how Samsung is going a step ahead of Apple in the display department in 2020. First up, there will be two Galaxy Note 20 variants this year, the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+. The display specs of Note 20 include a 6.42" display, which is a slight increase from 6.3" of Note 10 last year. The resolution will still be at 1080p Plus, though, with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Coming to the Galaxy Note 20 Plus, it will have a 6.87" display, a slight increase of .07" from last year. It will have a Quad HD+ resolution with a pixel per inch of 497.

Galaxy Note 20 The aspect ratio is a bit wider than the Note 20 at 19.3:9. It's the first time ever I guess a Galaxy S phone in a particular year is more significant than the Galaxy Note phone of that year. The Galaxy S20 Ultra measures at 6.9". They're almost the same size to be fair, but still, I thought it's something you should know. Anyway, Ross Young confirmed again that the Galaxy Note 20+ will indeed support 120Hz at Quad HD+ resolution, just like we discussed a couple of days ago. That's excellent news indeed, but here's where the Galaxy Note 20 family will have the upper hand this year on the iPhone 12 Pro models. Ross says both the Galaxy Note 20 models will have LTPO display technology. LTPO stands for low-temperature polycrystalline oxide display. The technology will feature a low-power backplane, and it will be able to turn off individual pixels depending on the various colors displaying on the screen. LTPO displays should be able to use up to 15 to 20 percent less power than LTPS, or low-temperature polysilicon. Which is the display Samsung and everyone currently use in their smartphones. Ross explains that the LTPO can vary the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. 1Hz for always-on display and up to 120Hz for the gaming experience. It's a massive advantage for Samsung as Apple will not feature LTPO displays up until next year. By the way, we've seen variable refresh rate displays on phones like Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7 Pro, and the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro will also have a dynamic OLED screen. But the difference is they use LTPS display, and the refresh rate adjusts between 60Hz and 120Hz. Whereas with the LTPO display on the Note 20, the refresh rate can vary from 1Hz to 120Hz there by the display will be able to automatically adjust the refresh rate for apps that support high refresh rates and those that don’t, thereby saving on battery life. Anyway, the presence of LTPO tech on the Galaxy Note 20 will give Samsung an edge over the competition. And give will enable customers to enjoy stuff like media consumption without having to plug in their devices frequently. Also, Ross Young just confirmed that there won't be an Ultra variant in the Note 20 family. Note 20 and Note 20+ are the only two variants this year, but interestingly, he says the Galaxy Fold 2 will be the Ultra model this year. This makes sense considering how the Fold 2 will have built-in S-Pen support, and at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung will name it the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra instead of the Galaxy Fold 2. I guess it's their strategy of slowly transitioning the Note lineup into the foldable lineup with the S-Pen support. By the way, this doesn't mean that there won't be 100x zoom on the Note 20+. Galaxy Note 20 Plus Have A Larger Fingerprint Recognition Area - So almost 15 months ago, Samsung launched a brand-new fingerprint sensor that applies sound waves. It was produced by Qualcomm, which is more secure than the optical fingerprint scanner. But there was one problem with it that annoyed a lot of people and still to this day. And it's the fact that the fingerprint recognition area is so small. I mean, you need to correctly place your finger on this small recognition area. Otherwise, it won't unlock the phone, which gets annoying sometimes.

Galaxy Note 20 Plus But a few months ago, Qualcomm unveiled the successor to this fingerprint sensor. And addressed the issue by making it a lot bigger - 17 times, to be exact. Not only that, but they also made it faster and more secure. By making it identify blood flow and heart rate as a different level about authentication that the thumb is located on the sensor is actually a live person's. Also, this new sensor handles two fingers at once. That means double the security or something like that. Really, I’m not positive what the benefit of scanning two fingers at once would be for most people. Anyway, Qualcomm unveiled this new sensor in December last year. We thought Samsung would equip it with the Galaxy S20, but that didn't happen. The S20 has the same fingerprint sensor as the S10. But thankfully, it looks like Samsung may finally introduce this new fingerprint sensor with the Galaxy Note 20. Ross Young did an interview where he gave some Galaxy Note 20 details. And he said Samsung may be the first company to introduce this tech to the world with the Galaxy Note 20. Which is great news if Note 20 ends up with this tech. People who got their hands on with this new scanner mentioned that it's way faster and convenient than the current Ultrasonic scanners on devices like the S10 and Note 10. So fingers crossed that this new component ends up with Note 20 in the production line. Also, Ross Young clears the doubt that some people had about whether or not the Note 20 would see an under-display camera technology. He said it will have a hole punch cutout in the middle, just like the S20. Although I'm hoping it to be a little smaller in diameter. Next, he talked about the batteries on Note 20. He expects the two phones to have batteries ranging between 4,000mAh and 5,000mAh. A few weeks ago, the battery capacity of Note 20 had been leaked, and it's 4000mAh to be exact. Although we don't about the Galaxy Note 20 Plus's battery size. It's safe to assume it should be somewhere between 4700 to 5000mAh. He also talked about the RAM count. He said both the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Plus will have 16GB RAM as standard. This is cool, But I think there should be other RAM configuration available as well to keep the cost down for price-sensitive markets. Earlier it was also said the Galaxy S20 will only be possible with 12GB as standard and S20 Ultra with 16GB. But Samsung is selling 8GB S20 and S20+ variants and 12GB Ultra variants. So expect other RAM configurations too, but it's good to know the Galaxy Note 20 series will top out at 16GB. Finally, the release date will launch the Note 20 along with the Fold 2 in early August. Result Of The US Huawei Ban - So it seems China is ready to punish Apple, Qualcomm, and other big American companies to avenge Huawei. Last year Huwaei was added to the US ‘Entity List, ’ which means American companies need to take permission to do business with Huawei. Now, after a year, the ban has been further extended for another year.

But Most importantly, Trump administration is blocking the shipments of semiconductor chips to Huawei from foundries all over the world. Which includes TSMC, which makes chipsets for Huawei. You see, companies like Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek design their own chipsets. But they don't have the infrastructure to produce these chips. That's where Samsung and TSMC come in. TSMC produces chips such as Snapdragon 865 for Qualcomm, A13 bionic for Apple, and Kirin 990 for Huawei. Now, Trump has issued a new rule where TSMC needs to take permission from the US government before making chipsets to Huawei. You might ask why do TSMC needs to take permission from the US since they're not an American company. True, but the machinery TSMC use is American made. And that's why they need to obey whatever Trump tells them to. And he doesn't want them to make chips for Huawei. Even after getting banned from using Google services. Huawei still managed to sell 240 million smartphones last year, most sold in China. But getting banned from TSMC or Samsung would totally cripple Huawei and will be the final nail in the coffin for this Chinese giant. By the way, Huawei has been moving the production of some chips to SMIC, which is another Chinese company. But the thing is SMIC is generations behind TSMC and Samsung. They are still at 14nm nodes, while TSMC and Samsung are making 5nm process nodes. So this is the beginning of the end for Huawei, without TSMC or Samsung. They can't stay competitive in the smartphone business. Not even in their homeland China. Now, To counterattack these harsh measures. China is readying its own ‘Unreliable Entity List’ according to a report by Global Times. Reuters reports that these are the companies the Chinese government is targeting which are mostly dependant on China. An administrative council affiliate of the China Society told the Global Times. "China should realize these countermeasures to the area that the US attempt does not ask for a mile following being provided an inch. He urged China to take out "thorough inquiries into related US businesses and "let them touch the injury." With that being said, this is, without a doubt going to be bad for Apple, Qualcomm, and other listed companies. Around 15 to 20% of Apple's revenue came from China. The majority of domestic Chinese phones use Qualcomm's processors. So these companies will take a huge hit to their revenues from this move China. But China also needs to understand that this is a double-edged sword. Because if they ban the said American companies from selling within. Then American companies will be prompted to move their production out of China as fast as possible. You see, China is a facilitator of low-cost labor. The strength of China is also its greatest weakness. If the West pulled even half their production out of China. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 - Samsung will not retain the 100x zoom - So we've been catching plenty of rumors about the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+ recently. But today we're getting an early look at the potential design of the smaller Note 20 handset. Ice universe shared a couple of images of the handset. Renders to be exact, which shows a boxy design reminiscent of the previous Note.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 In fact, the front looks relatively similar to the Galaxy Note 10 with a square shape. And a hole-punch that's centered at the top of the display. From the back, it is seen sporting a rectangular camera module featuring three big sensors and one small sensor presumably flash. More like a Galaxy S20 rectangular camera housing. One thing to keep in mind, though that it's not a precise rendering. In a follow-up tweet, Ice Universe says. "Don't believe its bezel, just a rough design preview." This render actually came from a case maker. And the thing about renders from the case makers is that they don't have the exact information. All about the bezel size or hole punch size or even the camera arrangement. So this render doesn't speak much apart from the fact. It will have a triple camera system with a rather big camera housing like the Galaxy S20. Yeah, this isn't an accurate representation of the Note 20. But rather giving us some idea of what the design Samsung is going for. Yesterday, we got a confirmation that the Galaxy Note 20+ will indeed have the 108MP camera like the Galaxy S20 Ultra even without the Ultra moniker. Samsung has pushed several patches and software fixes to the S20 Ultra to solve autofocus issues. But some aren't able to be fixed. So people were wondering whether those issues will be transferred to the Galaxy Note 20+ as well. Or Samsung is planning to do something about it. Turns out, they are. According to the ever-reliable Ice Universe, Samsung will add a new sensor to assist in focusing. And completely eliminate the focusing issue that we had on the S20 Ultra.
