I only ever come here for sam / amethyst ocean content these days and every single time I end up getting upset when I look at the tags bc a high percentage of it is hate😭 I come here for a good time and get slapped in the face bc the fandom doesn’t work w me here

Hi! Can I ask why the phandom is calling them amethyst ocean and not Halfagoth? Like i get the sentiment of it being poetic and all but its hard to use when it comes to shipping dynamic in other fandom culture

Idk shipping names can get really weird lol. It’s because Sam’s eyes are purple (amethyst) and Danny’s are either blue or green depending on what form he’s in, and the ocean is like a blue/green combo of some sort.

That’s how I interpret it anyway!

I’m enamored by the friends to lovers trope! Also, they just really balance each other out. Sam is very intense and Danny is very chill and doesn’t always have the right perspective for things, which Sam calls him out for multiple times. Sam needs to chill and compromise sometimes as well, and Danny helps her see that. They’ve shared so much of their lives together already and definitely shared trauma so that’s a bond that’s there for life. Also they’re just super cute! But ultimately, I’m a sucker for the “she’s so pretty and oh shit am I in love with my best friend?!” trope. Thanks for the ask!

Is this a safe space i just wanna know why the fandom is lowkey misogynistic to sam? i know some of them are bias to their favorite ship but that doesnt really excuse the things thats been said and accused about this girl? theres one character there thats never apologetic and is just straight out full of contempt and vengeance and yet??

I completely agree, they’re very misogynistic towards Sam. Which sucks, because she’s such a cool character with many layers to her.

I think some people take the show too seriously and read too much into it. Like, this is a show for kids, it’s not that deep lol. Every character has flaws, Sam does too, but she’s also been consistently having Danny’s back. Also, these characters were all created by white males so the women on the show especially are not entirely representative. That said, if people can get past that, they’d realize Sam is a great character.

Also there’s always internal misogyny people still need to get over and grow up, and you gotta remember that people just love to hate on women. Especially when they’re strong and dominant. Taylor Swift is the perfect example of this. She gets SO MUCH unnecessary hate for literally know reason. If you don’t like her music? Cool. It’s a matter of taste. But everything else thrown at her (particularly with dating) is absolutely nonsensical. She’s a very kind and generous person who has never really done anything really grossly wrong. So why are people hating on her? She represents womanhood. We’re still a systematically sexist society, unfortunately. That’s why it’s important to speak up when we see this happening, so good for you, anon!!! You’re already there!
