Okay, so I saw a post on twitter today that made me think about my interpretation as to why Vi continued to hold on to the badge after episode 3. I was gonna qrt the person but then my rant got too long and I thought better of it. So, I'll post it here instead. Enjoy my long notes app rant of Vi R. Cane and her self-destructive tendencies:

my personal headcanon to what exactly is under cait's eye patch. I've seen a lot of people who think she basically has heterochromia with a neat lil scratch going perpendicular to her eye, even tho the spear clearly cut along the eyelid. also, a spear slashing through your eye is not gonna make it change the color of the iris. what probably happened was- the eyeball was damaged to the point of collapse, and its remains had to be removed. so what we're left with is

she's got no eyeball. i think the eye patch makes much more sense that way- for one, seeing an empty eye socket might be considered unpleasant, so she mostly keeps it covered. second, you can see how snug the eye patch is- it sits tightly on her eye socket, and i imagine that if there was an actual eye there, blind or not, it would get really irritated having a piece of fabric rubbing on it all day.

as for a prosthetic- i honestly don't think caitlyn cares about looking "normal". she probably won't get a functioning (fictional) hextech eye to fix her sight- i think she believes this scar to be a reminder for her past mistakes, so she never "loses sight" of what's important ever again. a prosthetic for aesthetic purposes feels a little ooc. caitlyn never cared about being pretty. i don't think she's shameful about her scar, nor does she wear it with pride. i think she's pragmatic and neutral about it, her biggest concern being "but can i still shoot" and the answer to that, i think, is a "yes". the rest is peanuts for her.

the upper eyelid itself is still in tact, and it healed kind of roughly, so the scar looks mingled (caitlyn could probably have surgery to fix it, but like i mentioned, she doesnt care for that stuff). i also think her tear duct is still working perfectly fine, so when she cries, she tears up on both sides.

Sleepy Comforts

It’s a cool, windy night in Piltover, the bright moon casting a glowing stream of soft light into the windows of the Kiramman estate. The largest bedroom is filled with a comfortable silence, the only sounds coming from a lightly snoring pink haired woman, her body sprawled out across the cushy bed as she hugs a pillow close.

Next to her, the heir of the aforementioned estate, Caitlyn Kiramman is equally sound asleep, the soft duvet pulled up to her chin, her long dark hair falling lightly on her silk pillow.

The two had started the night curled up together, arms wrapped lovingly around each other as they drifted off to sleep. It was how they spent every night, exchanging low whispers and soft touches late into the night until they both eventually surrender to the gentle calling of dreamland.

It’s only when Caitlyn somehow no longer senses Vi’s comforting presence holding her that she is awoken, half asleep, half aware that her wife is no longer in her arms.

With her eye still closed, trying to stay as close to sleep as possible, she reaches out a delicate hand to feel around for Vi. Her eye opens only when she feels the soft scarred skin of her wife’s bare arm.

Scooting closer to her sleeping form, Cait admires her as she lightly traces the large tattoo on her back, she had subconsciously turned to face Caitlyn in her sleep, her gorgeous face so relaxed, her mouth agape slightly as she snores on, her breath deep and even.

Ignoring how peaceful Vi looks, Caitlyn starts tapping Vi’s face with her fingers to wake her up. When that doesn’t work, she resorts to pressing gentle kiss after kiss against her face until her wife lets out a sleepy groan, signaling that she’s now somewhat conscious.

“Come, warmth.” Caitlyn half whispers, half whines, her lips hovering over Vi’s ear and Vi shutters, a sleepy grin dawning on her face at her girl’s clingy tendencies, something she found wildly adorable.

Without missing a beat, silently, eyes still closed, the soft smile still lingering on her lips, she shuffles closer to Caitlyn, wrapping her arms around her. She still doesn’t totally understand this new habit of hers that’s become an almost nightly occurrence, but the Zaunite assumes it has something to do with the way Vi always runs warmer, while Caitlyn never seems to retain enough heat herself, and the fact that Cait loves to be held in her strong arms.

Nuzzling her nose into her soft, dark blue hair, Vi presses a gentle kiss to her head with a sleepy sigh. Caitlyn smiles and snuggles deeper into her comforting hold.

“I love you.” She hums, warm, content and at peace in the safety of Vi’s arms, before drifting easily back to sleep. Though not before hearing Vi’s raspy voice thick with sleep, whisper the three little words—that fill her heart with comfort—back to her.
