grace!!! hello my friend! how has your day been?? <3

OH MY GOSH HELLO!!! This ask was so sweet & lovely to receive :D

I’m answering this a lil late alsgajsgjagsjsgsj but yesterday was pretty good! It felt very meaningful; I helped out at the nursery at my new church!! for the very first time!!!

I’ve been wanting to volunteer at a church nursery for years now, but living in… six different places… in two years… has made staying at any church long enough to get truly involved rather difficult! But I think (I hope) I’ll be sticking with this church for a while, so I finally got signed up to volunteer :D And it was LOVELY!!! I helped out with the toddlers, and oh my goodness they were all so sweet and precious and adorable and cute and oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh OH MY!!!!!!

It was a wonderful start to my day, but also a tiring start 😅 I spent the rest of the day in a bit of a tired haze, but it was good nevertheless! I sent an email to a friend, looked up at the stars and pondered Psalm 147:4 (I had to check the passage just now to make sure I got it right lol. It says “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” I just think that’s such a beautiful verse, and it caught my attention as soon as I read it) and also WATCHED A SPIDER USE ITS SILK TO DESCEND FROM THE TOP OF THE HOUSE??? RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES AS I STOOD ON THE PORCH??? It was very random but also extremely cool! The spider looked like it was in a spy movie or something XD

I watched a few episodes of The Bad Batch with my dad, who’s catching up on the season, which was fun :) Me and him have such similar tastes in movies/shows so it’s always fun to watch & discuss those things with him!

So if I had to describe the day in very brief terms, I’d say it was tiring, but also filled with good things :)

last song i listened to: chronically cautious by braden bales! it’s so so catchy, and despite listening to it over and over and over again, i never seem to get tired of it <3 i also personally believe that the lyrics are Hekkin Nice! a well-written breath of fresh air compared to most songs on the radio.

currently watching: star wars the bad batch!!! the finale comes out on wednesday and it’s… bittersweet :’) i’ve been watching this show for three years now. it’s gonna be so strange when it ends. i also just started rewatching an old Dream SMP episode about Ghostbur & Phil :)

currently reading: a couple books!! himawari house by harmony becker, the how & the why by cynthia hand, wild and distant seas by tara karr roberts, and i’m planning to start a new book soon!

currently obsessed with: honestly it’s Bluey lol. i wouldn’t call it an obsession per se, but the 28 minute episode made me feel so many things & made me remember really sad memories & made me feel so hopefully happy & it also made me tear up three times, soooo… i’ve been thinking about it lately.

favorite color: blue, but robin’s answer made me remember how much i enjoy cherry-blossom-pink as well!! especially after… yesterday? a few days ago? when i discovered some fallen cherry blossoms outside and tucked them behind my ears :) it’s a color that Tastes good, if you know what i mean <—no one knows what i mean

Well hello hello it’s been a while 😭 I’ve been pretty busy but here’s a thing I’ve been working on

Suddenly struck with a need to explain to you how boat pronouns work (I work in the marine industry).

When you're talking about the design of the boat, you say "it".

When the boat is still being built, your say "it".

When the boat is nearing completion, you can say "it" or "she".

When the boat is floating in the water you probably say "she", unless there is still a lot of work to be done (e.g. no engine yet) then you say "it".

When the boat is officially launched and operating, you say "she". If you continue to say "it" at this point you are not incorrect but suspiciously untraditional. You are not playing the game.

If you are referring to a boat you don't really know anything about you may say "it" ("there's a big boat, it's coming this way"). But if you know its name, it's probably "she" ("there's the Waverley, she's on her way to Greenock").

If you are talking about boats in general, you say "it" ("when a boat is hit by a wave it heels over")

If you speak about a boat in complimentary terms, it's "she" ("she's a grand boat"). If you are being disparaging it may be it, but not necessarily ("it's as ugly as sin", "she's a grotty old tub").

If she has a boy's name, she's still she. "Boy James", "King Edward", "Sir David Attenborough"? The pronoun is she.

If it's a dumb barge (no engine), you say it. But if it's a rowing boat (no engine), you say she.

I hope this has cleared things up so that you may not be in danger of misgendering floating objects.

Eret added a little “make your own flag” activity to the museum and Wilbur was so mad about it when he initially visited. Went on a whole tirade about how disrespectful it is for about 10 minutes but then once he got started he spent the rest of his time at the museum drawing up flags with 6 year olds
