New art of Elliot and Caldwell! The two are bar buddies, but don’t really get along well outside of that setting. Caldwell can only tolerate Elliot’s antics when he’s drinking

This is honest to god one of my biggest gripes with the art community. Art isn’t a race, nor is it any other sort of competition. Comparisons are some of the worst way to set goal posts for yourself and others. On top of that art is such a difficult thing to set an objective better/worse due to it’s subjectivity

All that aside there’s also the ageism here. What makes this person think they can’t surpass a 16 year old but they CAN surpass a 20 year old? Is it a matter of them giving up because “oh a young artist is talented I can’t catch up” because here’s the thing: you can STILL catch up! Just because a young person is skilled doesn’t mean you have no chance to build these skills too.

Victor Ref sheet! He's a vampire who runs a "body shop" where he sells body parts for the undead and others! He also offers the service of replacing body parts himself, though it's more expensive. Right now he is in the dog house with those running the city due to him inviting a small group of humans to live with him. Which is a BIG nono. if it weren't for personal connections, he'd 100% be thrown in jail.

James! Based off of the Frog Prince fairy tale! He was cursed to slowly transform into a frog through his lifetime, and periodically temporally turn into a frog as well. He has learned to transform willingly, but it’s no way slowing the chronic part of it. One day he won’t be able to turn back human, and he’s learned to live with that

I think its funny when people try and make an objective list of the bachelors and Bachelorettes in SDV and talk about "Oh This one bad for this reason" or "This ones the best for this reason" and there's so many heated comments debating Like The Bachelor/ettes are meant to be subjective, everyone's gonna have their preferences, and there is no objective right or wrong. Like, let people have their fun. I have my own preferences for NPCS but I ain't gonna hate on people who disagree

I’m a man who will eternally be bitter about the backrooms. When I first heard of it I was (and still am) deeply fascinated with the concept of liminal horror. Specifically the horror of complete isolation and being stuck in a singular location.

But then monsters popped up in the lore, and different levels… and that just completely shifts the horror for me. The art of liminal horror to me is truly the eternal nature of it, and the inclusion of monsters and levels adds a sense of progress, which defeats the purpose of it.

It extra sucks because I ADORE the aesthetic of it, the vaguely nostalgic vibe is amazing, I just think the inherent horror of it slipped away for me.

Okay, the more I've thought about "600 strike" the more I think of re-works for it. I'm never one to do fix-it fics, but I truly do think that this song, mainly the fight behind it, could have been done differently. Thematically speaking, I don't have a problem with Ody torturing Posedien. It lines up with Jay's goal of "Ruthlessness" BUT it really dampers down Posedien's power and really makes him feel weak. Essentially a character assassination. I have a few different approaches that would make it feel, in my mind, more in line with the power level that Posedien should have, while still keeping in line with themes. 1. Ares is now Odys patron god, taking over while Athena is... compromised. I think it'd be fascinating too if there would be hints of it earlier in the musical as well, like soon after "My Goodbye". Possibly in "600 strike" its fully revealed that Ares is protecting Ody and boosting his power. and hey I know Jay likes anime powers so maybe Ares has a power where he can temporarily bring back dead soldiers to fight, or at least projections of them. this way Ody can fight alongside his brothers one last time. This one I THINK I've seen others toy with as well, but I cant think of a specific person right now. 2. This would be a bigger change, what if Posedien gets a favor from Hades and brings Odys men back to fight AGAINST Odysseus, Ody must fight and defeat all of them. Including Polites. He hammers down the ruthlessness point with that. And instead of torturing posiden, Posedien WILLINGLY lets him go. Ody learned his lesson. He now believes that "Ruthlessness is mercy upon himself" Posiden made his point and won. There's no longer a reason to kill him. He can still keep that dope "Next to my wife" line too, but this time Posedien is doing it more condescendingly. 3. Plays out a lot like 2 but now Posedin actually kills Ody and the 600-men fight takes place in the underworld, ody fighting his way through his men to return to his body. Bonus: Hades cameo. Hades is like "I respect your love for your wife, I'll give you a chance to return home" Queue the fight. Now would all these ideas work perfectly? No. But I do think its a good showcase of how I might work around my biggest hangups in the song. I hate to be so critical, I do adore the musical, but it's just a hump I can't get over.

Okay with the vengeance saga out now I gotta say that it’s probably the weakest saga of the bunch. Especially its characterization of Poseidon in 600 strike. This deus-ex-machina felt really out of left field. Honestly a better one would’ve been that “anti drowning scarf” as a reference to the old epic. Where he can evade Poseidon or something. Or or idk Zeus comes down himself and is like “bro let him go” it’d be ooc of Zeus but at least better than what actually happened

It just feels so wrong for a mortal to even stand a chance against ACTUALLY hurting a god. Not even just a god, Poseidon is one of THE BIG 3. It feels like so many loopholes were jumped through

Okay but now what if, hear me out on this, Poseidon somehow convinces Hades to allow Odys 599 man crew to come back and fight Ody themselves, like maybe projections of them or something.

Now that would be able to bring back old motifs, and SERIOUSLY show Odys turn to ruthlessness. When he wins Poseidon can be “well you learned your lesson, not like your wife’s still going to love you” and lets him go by his own choice
