Being back at Hogwarts was a dream come true for Gideon Prewett. Over the summer he and his brother had spent a lot of time with their older sister Molly and her husband Arthur. Only a few weeks ago their third son Percy was born, and Gideon was over a lot to help babysit Charlie and Bill while they were taking care of their newborn. It wasn't any hassle to Gideon, as he absolutely adored his nephews. They spent a lot of time talking and playing games of Quidditch, all at Bill's request. And who was Gideon to refuse? As much as he loved spending time with his nephews, he was happy to be back and studying for his final year at Hogwarts. With NEWTs coming up this spring, he knew he was going to be busy studying, but he needed to plan all of his final fantastic pranks to say goodbye to Hogwarts in an illustrious way. He had to do something to show the school he was the best pranker. However, his last prank would be something to pass the torch onto the Marauders, telling them it was finally their school.

Gideon walked down the halls towards Gryffindor Tower as he thought about his next prank. He was fond of walking around when he needed to think. It was something about the constant walking motion that calmed his mind and fostered his most brilliant ideas. As he walked around he noticed a flash of blonde hair going around the corner. There was plenty of blondes in the school, all of which Gideon appreciated. Unlike most blondes at Hogwarts, this one was tall, which meant it was only one of a few blondes. Gideon bet that it was Marlene McKinnon, considering they were near Gryffindor Tower.

He turned around so that he could cut her off to see if it was in fact Marlene. After a moment of walking, he appeared in front of her and he grinned. "It's been too long, McKinnon," Gideon said, smiling lightly. "I've missed that sweet face of yours." His flirtatious demeanour was just a show to boost his own confidence, but he found it fun to act like that. "How was your summer?"

Gideon watched after Amelia as she ran off and just laughed to himself, shaking her head. "She'll do just fine," Gideon muttered to himself, turning on his heel to walk back towards Ravenclaw Tower.

"And I’m very sneaky, as well! It’s a good trait for a ‘Puff to have, ‘cause everyone underestimates us. Now, I must go before the cover of darkness leaves me and my plans are exposed!" she exclaimed, covering her face with her cloak before bounding away from him, down the corridor.

Gideon watched her quietly as she responded and did his absolute best to keep a straight face. After a few moments his face fell and he started laughing. "Wow, Bones, I didn't know you had that sort of thing in you. You'll be a fine pupil."

"So mysterious. I’ll owl you with the details. Look for my signal at midnight on the Astronomy Tower, then hoot three times like an owl. I’ll respond with a trumpet sound. Follow at a safe distance and then when you hear my sneeze, counter with two coughs and we can meet in secret to discuss."

"Not today, unfortunately. But I will owl you all of the details as soon as possible. Don't fret, Bones, it'll come soon enough," he said, mischief in his eyes.

"Then, I suppose I’m quite proud to be your honored pupil, Mr. Prewett," she replied with a slight bow, laughing. "When do these pranking lessons begin?"

"So what if I am? When I leave this school, Bones, I'll have no one to continue my legacy. My pranking rivals aren't my legacy. I need someone to carry on the Prewett pranking torch, and you're just the right bird, I think," he stated proudly.

"I do believe you’re just a bit too excited for this," Amelia replied with a chuckle.

"Oh, that and more, my young protege," he said, grinning. "So, it's settled. I shall teach you the great art of pranking, you and you alone will be my star pupil. This is actually quite exciting. I've never taught anyone who to prank before," Gideon said, smiling to himself.

Amelia mulled the thought over for a moment. “Are you saying that you could teach me your ways, and I could out-prank the Marauders?” The idea certainly appealed to her, he couldn’t deny that. And she’d be going out a way better way than Liam did three years ago. At least she’d be able to leave a mark on the school that would set her apart from her brothers. And she knew she’d be able to recruit Mary and Tabitha to help her as well. “If so, I’m definitely in.”

"So you're interested in joining the great art that is pranking, are you?" Gideon asked, nodding with an appreciative smile. "Well, since you are one of the smartest girls I know, I suppose you could definitely help me plan better pranks. As you should know by now, pranks are only as good as their planner. And with two planners for the same prank, imagine the sort of things we could do, dear Bones," Gideon said, trying his best to persuade her. "I can help you prepare for next year, when it's your last year. Those would be some interesting last-hurrah pranks, especially with those bloody Marauders in competition."

Amelia thought for a moment. “And how could one of the smartest girls you know, who wouldn’t rat on you at all might I add, go about perhaps helping in any of these last-hurrah blow-out pranks? Just wondering, of course.”

"I do indeed have a heart, dear Emmeline. I just choose when I want to use it," he said, smiling faintly. "Ah, the trick step and Peeves. Filch isn't too bad, but that trick step! Oh, it's brutal. And don't get me started on Peeves. Ruddy menace, that ghost. He's got a habit of spoiling my pranks. If I could prank a ghost, Rowena knows I would," Gideon said, speaking quickly. A ghost of a smile danced on his lips as he listened to her speaking. "Oh, that's your mission, eh? Well, I do hate to disappoint, but I'm quite the master at pranking, if you haven't noticed. I know how to avoid prefects. It's one of my few talents." The mischievous look was back in Gideon's eyes and his small smile grew to a grin. "Oh, you know me better than that, Emmeline, but not everyone does. Your special that way."

"Well, it’s good to know you have a heart. First year pranking is ridiculous, they’ve just gotten to the castle and probably don’t even know how to avoid the trick step. Or Peeves. Still get freaked out by Filch." Hell, Emmeline couldn’t even avoid the trick step. It was the one thing she hadn’t mastered yet around the castle and proved to embarrass her on many occasions.  "Poor them." she remarked half-heartedly, watching Gideon speak.  "If I catch you, I can give you detention. I think that’ll be my mission this year, to catch you in the act of pranking. —— And that’s dung, you’re not all talk. Liar.”

"A head start of sorts, yes. I think it's only kind," Gideon said, grinning. "Oh, I'd never prank the first years. They're so new and innocent. They don't deserve any pranks. But the second years, they're not safe. They've already seen what these pranks are like and should be on the lookout for 'em," Gideon warned, a glimmer of mischief shining in his eyes. "A true prankster never reveals his plans! You all know what I'm capable of, so I'd rather you just wait and see." Gideon grinned again, that mischievous twinkle back in his eyes. "I don't think you can give me a detention for that. For all you know I'm all talk."

“Ah, so a heads start of sorts, then? How kind. Please don’t prank any of the first years though, Potter’s already in the midst of doing that and while I tried to get him to not do so, he’s being a prat about it.” Emmeline stopped for a moment, before her curiosity got the better of her,  rolling up her parchment.”May I ask what it is, or is that giving away too much? And about the game? Living in fear? Christ. I wonder if I’m allowed to give you detention just for saying that.”

"Oh, you will. You're one of the smartest girls I know, Amelia," Gideon said, nodding matter-of-factly. "Oh, please don't rat on me! There's no need to rat on me if you're not being targeted, is there?" he said, laughing to himself. "I am lucky you're not a prefect. Rowena knows my life would be so much shittier."

Amelia rolled her eyes at the age-old nickname. “Let’s hope I keep it that way. I would hate to have to rat on you and get you detention or something. You’re just lucky I’m not a prefect.”

"Hey, I’m just preparin’ everyone. Last thing I want happening is someone getting randomly pranked and thinking there were undeserving of it. Usually, they do deserve it, but I like people knowing about an upcoming prank. So they can live in fear for awhile. It’s all about the game, dear Emmeline."

"You sound like one of those villains who announce their plan before they actually do them. That gets them nowhere, usually.” Emmeline rolled her eyes before going back to reading over her Transfiguration essay.

"Oh, Bones, you haven't done anything to deserve a good prankin'. Yet, that is," Gideon said, laughing. "How were your hols, future Minister?"

"Please, go easy on me."

"Oh, dearest friends, I'm so glad to announce that this year is going to be better than the rest. It's my last year, and you know what that means," Gideon said, laughing. "More pranks than usual. Be ready, Hogwarts."
